Hope you all had an amazing weekend! Today I am sharing with you a book that I loved, the perfect fall read!🦉

My Thoughts

Hauntingly beautiful and exquisitely told. Hester Fox’s Second novel is as stunning and atmospheric as her first. The perfect story to kick off your fall reading, an absorbing tale full of mystery and gloom with a Gothic vibe. Miss Fox’s elegant and descriptive writing completely transported me too 1840s Pale Harbor, Maine. A small town brimming with Mystery and secrets. When Gabriel arrives in town determined to redeem himself, he finds himself caught up in The town’s gossip, rumors, and accusations. Sophronia has been a reclusive since the death of her husband, a death that the town seems to blame her for. When Gabriel meets Sophronia he is immediately taken with her and when strange things start happening and Sophronia is blamed he is determined to prove the town wrong.

I was completely swept away by this mesmerizing story. Sophronia was such a remarkable character, A beautiful soul with a quiet grace that completely drew me in. Gabriel was wounded and flawed as well as strong and supportive. All the creepy happenings around town were somehow tied to the writings of Edgar Allan Poe. I was not previously tremendously familiar with Poe’s works, but WOW he was so twisted! I thought this was done so well and added an additional haunting layer to the story. An evocative story, equal parts mystery and romance with a satisfying ending.

This was a delightful story about family, friendship, and forgiveness. Wendy Wax write stories about strong dynamic women and their complex unbreakable bonds. Lauren and Bree were best friends until Lauren went off to New York and Bree didn’t come as originally planned, instead she stayed home and ended up marrying Lauren’s ex. What stings even more is that Kendra, Lauren’s mother, thinks of Bree as a daughter. 20 years have passed and Lauren returns home to introduce her mother to her fiancé and maybe even try on the family wedding dress. Kendra is so excited to see her daughter, she wants to try to repair things between Lauren and Bree. She also has a BIG secret she needs to tell, a Secret that will change everything. So will Lauren ever make it to the altar? and will it be in the family gown?

The story jumps between the perspectives of Lauren, Bree, and Kendra. All of these characters were so real, so relatable, and so likable. They all have made mistakes, they all have done questionable Things, but haven’t we all? Getting the story from the three different women’s perspectives really let you see the full picture and what everyone’s motivations were. Sometimes we do stupid things with the best of intentions. Throughout this book I kept putting myself in each of these characters positions and tried to figure out what I would do. And if I’m being honest I have no idea. So it’s a good thing I did not have to come up with a resolution to this story, which I thought was perfection! The setting of the story was the Outer Banks of North Carolina, sounds simply beautiful. I loved how we got to see this beautiful place through the eyes of Lauren‘s fiancé a lifelong New Yorker.

This is the perfect book to read at the beach or when you wish you were at the beach. The characters were colorful and compelling, the story was engaging and complex, and the setting was gorgeous. I love books about strong women and all the women in this story were strong, and I saw a little piece of myself in each of them. This story made me smile and crave Kendra’s chocolate cake!

Emma Davies writes books full of charm and wit. This book is no exception, probably the best book I have read from her so far! Flora and Ned have a whirlwind courtship. Flora sells her flower business and they head to Ned‘s hometown to live on the family farm with his parents. Living the farm life isn’t as simple as flora thought, especially when Ned‘s parents have definite opinions on how things are done. So can this free-spirited city girl find her place in the country? Will Flora and Ned get there happily ever after? Even if they have a few secrets left to tell?

Flora was such a fantastic character! She brought so much joy and color not only to the pages of this book but to this family farm. I loved the clash between this modern girl and this old-fashioned family. Ned’s Parents Hannah and Fraser, are very traditional in their thinking, the man works hard and the woman works hard to take care of him.🙄 Flora definitely held her tongue and try to learn Hannas ways. I love the way that flora related to both Hannah and Fraser, the girl had such a huge heart and so much respect for her potential future in-laws. Flora and Ned‘s connection was very sweet, although she out shown him a bit. I’d imagine that be the case if you were with a person that was as dynamic as Flora. Don’t think I would classify this as a romance, more like women’s fiction with a peppering of romance.

This was the perfect escapist read, I enjoyed every minute I spend with these characters on this lovely farm. Emma Davies descriptions of this farm were so vivid, I feel as though I’ve been there and it was gorgeous! Such a sweet story full of so much heart, hope, and flowers!💐

Time flew this week, I guess time flies when you’re reading good books! Excited to share with you today my review for this fun beach Mystery that I think will appeal to everyone!🏖

My Thoughts

ꜰᴜɴ. ʙᴇᴀᴄʜʏ. ᴍʏꜱᴛᴇʀʏ.

This was an entertaining beach read packed with Mystery and an added splash of romance and family drama. Mary Kay Andrews has written one heck of a perfect beach Mystery. When I pick this up I was expecting a bit more of a contemporary beach romance, but I was pleasantly surprised buy this charming Mystery. I loved being dumped into the middle of Druze messy life and watching her pick up the pieces and solve a couple mysteries. So pick up your detective hat, grab your bikini, and settle into your favorite beach chair for this fun ride.

Drew is recovering from a knee injury, working as a cocktail waitress in a beach bar, and missing being able to participate in her favorite activity, kite boarding. Drew’s beloved mother has just passed away when out of the blue Bryce her estranged father shows up. She is less than thrilled, but when she gets fired from her job she begrudgingly takes her father up on his job offer. Drew soon finds herself working for her father, a personal injury attorney and guess what? Her boss is her old eighth grade BFF turned enemy. Even better Wendy is now also Drew’s new step mommy. The silver lining to all of this is that Drew has inherited her grandparents beach bungalow and even though it is in need of much TLC it is a sanctuary from this crazy storm. Drew is not wild about her new job so she is easily distracted when Mystery comes a knocking. What follows is Drew’s involvement in two murder cases. One involves one of her father’s cases and the other is over 40 years old.

Loved Drew she was sassy, smart, strong, and a little salty. I loved solving these mysteries right along side her. Both these mysteries were compelling with outcomes that took me by surprise. The family drama was engaging and I liked how Drew and Bryce’s relationship evolved. The romance was subtle, sweet, and satisfying. This was an entertaining book that will be enjoyed on the couch just as much as at the beach.

🎧🎧🎧 Kathleen McInerney does a brilliant job bringing Drew to life in this book. She gave each character their own distinct voice and that really added an additional layer to an already wonderful story. Another book I feel that was enhanced by the listening experience.

Excited to share with you today my review for this dark, obsessive, chaotic book! Thank you so much to Justine at harlequin for my invitation to the tour.🖤

My Thoughts

scandalous. Compulsive. Chaotic.

Jason Allen has written an addictive, frantic, fast-paced thriller that will completely suck you in. This book takes you to the Hamptons and shows you the dark side. The book is completely disturbing, highly absorbing, and left me feeling a bit dirty. All the characters in this book are pretty much a HOT mess! It was one of those books that completely consumed me, then when I was done I started thinking, what the **** did I just read? Screwed up people, doing messed up things, and it was oh SO entertaining!

This book really highlighted the Socio economic disparities in the Hamptons between full-time residence and vacationers. The story was told from multiple perspectives and I found this extremely impactful. Cory is a full-time resident who gets his kicks from breaking into the big fancy mansions. Not to steal things, just to mess with the occupants, and for a bit of an escape. Gina his mother works as a housekeeper. She is a recovering alcoholic on the verge of falling off the wagon. Leo is a owner of one of the ritzy mansions a billionaire CEO. He arrives in the Hamptons with his elicit male lover. After a night of drugs and drinking a terrible accident occurs. BUT Leo is not the only witness, Cory had been carrying on his late night activity and saw everything happen, along with Leo’s daughters BFF. What transpires is disturbing, diabolical, and extremely absorbing. This was not the book I was expecting when I pick this up, but I have to admit I enjoyed every single page! 7/10

🎧🎧🎧 I was fortunate enough to have an audio copy of this to review and can I just say BRAVO Angelo DI Loreto! He really added so much to the story. His voice has a bit of an ominous quality to it that just really emphasized the disturbing nature of this book. He is really one of those narrators I could listen to all day!

So excited to share with you today my review for this delightful book that published yesterday! If you like sweet romances with fantastic characters and lots of heat this one is perfect for you!💕

My Thoughts

Sweet. Steamy. Diverse.

So over this past weekend I read both The Kiss Quotient and The Bride Test. Helen Hoang completely stole my heart with her delightful characters and enchanting storylines.The Bride Test was so charming it read like a fairytale, a more diverse much steamier fairytale. I like my romances with strong males and sassy females and this book checked both those boxes off. I also like my romances to be more than just a romance (if you know what I mean) and this one definitely was that! Miss Hoang has a new fan in me, I will absolutely read anything she writes.

Once upon a time… Khai, Who is on the autism spectrum was convinced he could not love. His mom was convinced he could, so she traveled to Vietnam to find her son a wife. Esme was a hard-working single mom. When Khai’s mother runs across Esme working as a maid in a hotel she knows that she is the ONE. So Esme boards a plane to America to seduce the prince, oh I mean Khai. BUT will Khai learn to love? And what will happen when Esme’s secrets come out? Will these two be able to conquer the cultural differences, the language barriers, Khai’s fears and live happily ever after? You’re going to need to read this to find out!

Both Khai and Esme were delightful characters that I completely adored.Esme was so spunky and sassy and I found her strength admirable. Khai, I really had a soft spot for him he was so vulnerable, it was tough to watch him struggle with certain things so much. The chemistry between these two was off the charts, they were definitely physically attracted to one another. This book has a lot of sizzle, steam,. and heat. If that’s not your thing I’d skim those parts, because this is a book not to be missed. I’d also suggest you read the authors note at the end it was so interesting how so much of this book related to her own life, a definite tribute to her mother. I like the trend toward more diverse books, but sometimes it seems a bit forced. This was a perfect example of a diverse book done extremely well. I cannot wait to see what Miss Hoang has in store for us next, might I suggest Quan’s story.😉

Happy Tuesday book lovers!

Today I have a review for this beautiful book about love with a dash of magic! Thank you so much Anne for my invitation to this tour!🌼

My Thoughts

Enchanting. Haunting. Magical.

Daniela Sacerdoti has written a lyrical story that will completely captivate you. Her words had such a musical quality to them. This is a story that gets into your heart, your bones, your soul. I had no idea what to expect when I picked this book up, but it exceeded all my expectations. This is the third book in the Seal Island series, but it can absolutely be read as a standalone. And can I just say I was thoroughly bummed out when I found out this is a fictitious location?

Beautifully told the story has an element of magic to it that will require you to suspend belief a bit. Three characters find themselves on Seal Island, all of them dealing with their own guilt and grief. Mathew has recently been released from jail, convicted of manslaughter. He is riddled with guilt for causing the car accident that killed his wife. Grace has taken a job as a doctor on the island, she is single, childless, and convinced that it is too late for her to find love. Grace and Matt are neighbors on the island and forge a friendship. I think they both saw a kindred spirit in their grief. The third character in this book is Rose. Rose is in a coma and reliving events that led up to the accident that put her in a coma. Rose had a complicated relationship with her brother who had some anger management issues that impacted Rose’s life and her family. Now as intriguing as I found Rose’s story I had no idea how it fit into the rest of this book. I knew the story threads connected I just didn’t know how, but all is tied up in a beautiful bow at the end of the book.

The book is full of emotion and vivid language that fully immerses you in these characters lives. The grief was palpable, but the hope was imminent. I really loved all these characters but I think I connected to grace the most I really felt for her and her desire to be loved. This book ended perfectly and left me with such a warm feeling in my heart. I noticed that this is not publishing in the US, and I think that needs to be remedied! This is a well told story that will appeal to people on both sides of the pond!

Hope you had a fantastic weekend! Went a little too quickly for my liking! Delighted to share with you today my review for this book that will appeal to those of you who enjoy a well told character driven story! Thanks to Lisa for my invitation to this tour!🌼

My Thoughts

Hmmm… where to start? This was a well done character driven women’s fiction story. This was not a thriller, and I along with many other readers (I think) went into this with that expectation. So when you pick this one up please keep in mind this is a slower story that is all about the characters. There is a bit of a mystery but it’s not twisted or jaw dropping or anything like that. Marybeth Mayhew Whalen did a great job of creating that southern small town vibe.

Three days before Annie is supposed to get married she disappears. Is it cold feet? But how could that be she is marrying the perfect man. Does it have something to do with her mother’s murder over 20 years ago? Especially now that the convicted murderer has been found to be wrongly accused, and is being let out of jail?The book bounces around between multiple characters, all of them with a connection to Annie. We also get Annie’s perspective before she disappears. What transpires is a complex web of lives that intersect and intertwine. Reading this book was like unraveling these characters secrets and guilt.

Even though I guess you would say Annie is the main character of this book, I was much more drawn to Faye and Clary. Faye is Annie’s aunt she owns a beauty shop and I thought this gave the book a bit of a Steel Magnolia vibe. I found her unconventional relationship both touching and heartbreaking. Clary was a bit odd but endearing, I liked her bond with the doves. There really was a lot going on in this book, and we only scratched the surface on a lot of it. I did truly enjoy this book, however I believe that if there were fewer characters and a little less going on I may have enjoyed it even more. Simply put this was a well told character driven story with a dab of Mystery and a heap of heart.7/10

Excited to share with you my review for this book that kept me on my toes! I loved trying to figure out what was going on throughout this engaging story!💜

My Thoughts

riveting. Tense. Consuming.

Wow! What a ride! This book kept me on my toes, kept me guessing, and then second-guessing. I’d imagine having a sick child would be devastating and having a sick child without a definitive diagnosis would be frustrating. Throughout this book I did feel for Becky, but in the back of my mind I kept thinking is this Munchausen by Proxy? Is she making her child sick? Is Megan really sick? Or is something else going on here? So many questions so few answers.

The book starts off with Becky on a plane to LA about to take off. When she receives a message from her husband that Megan is in the hospital becky demands her way off the plane. Medical exam after medical exam, test after test, and still no answers to what is wrong with Megan. Megan was once an active soccer star who excelled in school, now she is too tired to even make it to school most days. You know Megan is hiding things, keeping secrets, but does that have anything to do with her illness? Is it stress induced? Is it all in her head? Or is it really her mother who is causing all this? I truly had no idea, but boy oh boy did I want some answers!

This book had some pulse pounding moments, with some over-the-top antics. Admittedly this book wasn’t always believable and sometimes I did question the judgment of the medical professionals and the parents, but for me none of that mattered because this was just so entertaining. I liked how it really kept you trying to guess the outcome until almost the bitter end. Even though I figured some of it out, I certainly did not figure it all out. Simply put this was an engaging story that kept me guessing. The ending was satisfying and the getting there was a lot of fun! 8/8
