High Heels in the Highlands by Liz Hurley **Book Review** @rararesources

Happy Monday all!

Have you read this series yet? It is so fun they can all be read as standalone’s but I’m sure you’ll want to get to know all the sisters!👠

High Heels In The Highlands

Clementine’s swapped a London flat for a Scottish castle – but will she get her fairytale ending?

After discovering they were heirs to an enormous fortune, the lives of the five Hiverton sisters have never been the same.

While oldest sister Ariana settles in Norfolk, Clementine heads up to the remote Scottish Highlands to move into the castle that forms part of their estate. Not bad for a girl brought up scrabbling for money in a tiny house in East London…

However, Clem quickly finds out that Ruacoddy Castle is falling apart, the neighbours – especially grumpy young farmer, Rory – are suspicious of her and the eccentric housekeeper, Ottoline, is still in residence.

But as Clem finds herself growing closer to the village community, even growing closer to Rory and forming an alliance with Ottoline, she realises that life in the Highlands might just be the change she needed.

She just needs to find out if Manolo Blahnik make wellies…

Take a trip to the gorgeous Scottish countryside with this utterly feelgood, romantic and hilarious read – fans of Jenny Colgan, Holly Martin and Cressida McLaughlin will love this!

My Thoughts

A fun feel good frolic in Scotland.I’ve enjoyed all the stories in this series about these sisters who have inherited titles and property. This is Clem’s story… Clem is a fashion designer in London who now finds herself in the middle of nowhere Scotland. She has been sent to Scotland to see if it is worth the money for the family to hold onto the property. While there she meets all kinds of colorful characters including Otto and Rory. I really loved the setting of Scotland and the town. The story was filled with loads of laugh out loud and feel good moments. My only teeny tiny complaint is there wasn’t quite as much romance as I would’ve liked. Looking forward to what these sisters get up to next.

Summer Kisses at Mermaid Point by Sarah Bennett **Book Review** @rararesources

Happy Sunday all!

Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend? Do you believe in mermaids? This was a sweet small-town Romance that made me smile and believe in mermaids! 🧜🏻‍♀️

Summer Kisses at Mermaids Point

‘Delightfully romantic and touching.’ Phillipa Ashley

Laurie Morgan runs a café in the small seaside community of Mermaids Point, named after the beauties rumoured to live in the waters a few miles off the top of the point. When a hazy image is posted online of what appears to be a mermaid, the café and the village are soon full to bursting with curious sightseers.

The most eye-catching of the new arrivals is handsome author, Jake Smith, who has rented a cottage for the summer while he works on his new book. Or so he says. In fact, he is a journalist, burned out and disillusioned with life, whose editor has sent him on a crack-pot hunt for mermaids…

Jake quickly finds himself drawn to village life, and to the gorgeous woman who runs the local café. But he soon suspects there’s trouble lurking beneath the idyllic façade, and when it looks like Laurie’s family might be involved, Jake faces a difficult choice. Pursue the truth, or protect the woman he’s beginning to fall in love with…

My Thoughts

Do you believe in mermaids? Such a fabulous escape! A small town Romance peppered with mystery. Laurie runs her family‘s café in the small town of Mermaid Point. The town is dependent on tourism that hasn’t been quite up to par in recent years, due to poor weather. Then some blurry photos of a supposed Mermaid citing go viral and the town is inundated with mermaid seekers. This includes handsome Jake who has been sent there to investigate these mermaid sightings, but Laurie knows him as an author. Will jake solve the mystery of Mermaid Point and will this stop Laurie and he finding their happily ever after? Or will it be his own secret that halts the path to love?

This was such a great story filled with such wonderful characters. Laurie and Jake were great. I was hoping that their secrets would not interfere with true love, they just seemed so well suited for one another. I also really loved all the secondary characters especially Laurie‘s family her parents and her brother. The mystery kept me intrigued I liked sussing out what was going on in this small town. A delightful read, looking forward to future books set in this charming town.

Small Town Secrets by Alys Murray **Book Review** @bookouture

Happy Thursday all!

Nothing warms my heart quite like a book set in a small town! If you are in the mood for an emotional pick me up story then this is the perfect read!🌻

My Thoughts

women needed for the Fortune Springs Town Improvement Initiative. One year’s room and board provided.”

Any takers? Virginia is desperate to escape her life so when she sees this ad for A small town needing more women she jumped at the chance. Hops on a Greyhound. with everything she owns in her backpack. When she first reaches the town she runs into firefighter Owen who is less than pleased about this ad campaign drawing women to the town. Lucky for Virginia not all the town feels this way and she is welcomed with open arms by Calla Who is in charge of the women during their first year in town. What follows is a sweet occasionally emotional romance with a hint of mystery.

This was such a sweet somewhat predictable story that made me smile. Virginia was a great character and I really wanted her to find her forever home and her happily ever after. Cala was a great character and I loved the relationship that grew between Virginia and her as well as the relationship between Virginia and Willow. Now Owen was quite frustrating at times although just as he did Virginia he grew on me throughout the course of the story. When you’re in the mood for a delightful story to escape into this is the perfect read.

About the Book

“Young women needed for the Fortune Springs Town Improvement Initiative. One year’s room and board provided.”

I should have known it was too good to be true when I first saw the ad. It turns out that Fortune Springs, Colorado isn’t just a one-horse town, it’s a two-woman one, and this is their attempt to keep the community alive. I want to say the scheme is ridiculous, totally outdated, but I’m carrying everything I own in my canvas backpack and the greyhound I stepped off this morning is long gone. If this is my chance at a fresh start, I’d better grab it with both hands.

I know I should feel guilty about pretending to be a lonely heart willing to help repopulate this rural logging town, but all I feel is relief at having escaped the apartment in Savannah. And after all, what’s one more secret to add to the pile? I only hope I’ve hidden my tracks well enough, and that the kind Fortune Springs locals who’ve opened their doors to me will never find out what made me run away in the first place…

An emotional, gripping story full of family drama. Fans of Carolyn Brown, Robyn Carr and Debbie Macomber will be hooked.

Dating the IT Guy by Krysten Lindsay Hager **Book Review** @rararesources

Happy Sunday all!

Yesterday was the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere. Hope the weather is beautiful in your neck of the woods! ☀️

Dating the It Guy

Emme starts dating a popular high school student who happens to be from a famous political family. It seems like everyone at school either wants to be Brendon Agretti or date him. Emme feels out of her comfort zone in Brendon’s world and it doesn’t help that his picture-perfect ex seems determined to get back into his life, along with every other girl who wants to be the future Mrs. Agretti. Emme is already conflicted due to the fact her last boyfriend dumped her and her whole world is off kilter with her grandparents’ health issues. Life suddenly seems easier pushing Brendon away and relying on her crystals and horoscopes to guide her. Emme soon starts to realize she needs to focus less on the stars and more on her senses. Can Emme get over her insecurities and make her relationship work? Life sure is complicated when you’re dating the it guy.

My Thoughts

A totally adorable YA contemporary romance. This was a cute story that made me smile. Emme finds her self in summer school after her summer internship falls through she is conflicted when she is partnered up with the hi school IT guy. Brandon is hot, but she cannot imagine they have anything in common. *Spoiler alert they end up having a lot in common.* I’m sure you’re thinking this story sounds predictable and cliché but there was some definite depth to the story. Emme was coping with ailing grandparents, her grandmother just had a stroke and her grandfather was dealing with dimension. I thought this was handled in a very realistic and thoughtful way. Emme also has some kind of sixth sense and follows a lot of superstitions. I liked both Emme and Brendan as characters and thought the romance was sweet but frustrating. They really had some major communication breakdowns. I also liked Emme’s friends, although I’m not sure one of them gave her the best advice. This was a sweet story perfect when you want a little comfort read.

The First Man by Alex Kelly **Book Spotlight** @rararesources

Happy Thursday book people!

This time change has completely thrown me off this entire week. I am behind on absolutely everything, I need my hour back!⌛️

The First Man

Shane

Do you want to know what it means to live like me?

It means being forced not to look at him, not to touch him, not to be left alone in the same room as him.

Not to seek him out. Not to want him.

Not to love him.

Do you know how it feels to spend your entire life pretending to be someone else? Do you know what it’s like to love someone who doesn’t want to be loved?

I’ll tell you how it feels.

It feels as if you’re living in constant torment: you know which path you should follow, but you also know that, if you follow that path, you can never turn back.

And I can’t do that to him.

Every day I come back, because I know that he’s waiting for me.

Every day I promise him that he will never have to live without me.

Andy

Do you know what it means to live like me?

It means being forced not to touch him, not to kiss him, not to be able to leave the room while he’s still in it.

Not to breathe him in, not to lust after him.

Not to love him.

Do you know how it feels to spend your entire life pretending to be someone else? Do you know what it’s like to love the only person you’re not allowed to love?

I’ll tell you how it works.

You can’t seem to feel anything other than him; when you walk away, you know that you’re turning your back on the only thing that’s good in your life.

Yet you still walk away.

Every day I leave, knowing that he will be standing there, watching.

Every day I ask him to promise me that I will never have to live without him.

The Secrets of Meadow Farmhouse by Katie Ginger **Book Review** @rararesources

Happy Wednesday all! This was such a fun book! The perfect Country escape!🐑

The Secrets of Meadow Farmhouse

Escape to the countryside with a heart-warming new novel from Katie Ginger, author of Snowflakes at Mistletoe Cottage.

Amelia loves her life in Paris. But with the surprise inheritance of her childhood home, Meadow Farmhouse, she has no choice but to return to the small village of Meadowbank to restore her great-aunt’s old farmhouse. However returning to Meadowbank means she has to confront her past, including old flame Adam.

When Amelia discovers a locket hidden in the farmhouse, containing the picture of a mysterious World War Two soldier, she starts to uncover the secrets of her great-aunt’s past and is drawn further into village life. Shocked by the warm welcome from the villagers and her own surprising feelings for first love Adam, Amelia is suddenly confused as to where she truly belongs.

Can Amelia finally confront her own past and find where her heart truly calls home?

Fans of Rachael Lucas, Cathy Bramley and Jenny Colgan will fall in love with Katie Ginger!

My Thoughts

A sweet second chance small-town Romance! Katie Ginger once again charmed me with this delightful story. Amelia believes she is living a happy life working as an interior designer in Paris. When she is summoned home two do something About the old farmhouse she has inherited from her aunt. Emilio‘s plan is to get the house into selling condition, sell it, and return to France. What she was not planning on was how welcoming the small town community was. She had never thought any of them thought anything of her one way or another. She is also surprise how strong her feelings still are for her first love Adam. I am sure you’re thinking,” OK I know where this is going” and you’d be right. Sort of. There is so much more to the story. Amelia also discovers that her aunt Vera who she never felt a connection to has a big secret that might explain a lot.

As in all Katie‘s books this was perfect escapism. The setting was delightful, the characters were colorful, the story was engaging, and the romance was sweet. I was seriously ready to pack my bags and move to a farm, sheep and all. Amelia was just such a likable character and I loved her and Adam together. I really understood why she left and I was glad to see her come to terms with some of the issues of her past. So grab your Diet Coke cuddle up with your pup and escape to this lovely small town.

The Choice I Made by Cynthia Ellingsen **Book Review** @bookouture

Hello book friends!

This was such a wonderful story with a great setting and a boat full of secrets!🛶

My Thoughts

A compelling family drama with a gorgeous setting and a boat full of secrets. Julie returns home to Wood Violet (a resort in Wisconsin), after her mother has a stroke. Julie and husband Tristan are only planning on being there for four days, they both have high power jobs back in Chicago. Julie feels so rejuvenated being home in the Wisconsin fresh air, she also realizes that her family needs her more than they’ve lead on. Her husband Tristan is not pleased with this decision, but Julie needs to do this for her family and herself. Julie’s summer is filled with family secrets, old friends, reconnections, and second chances.

This was such a beautiful and emotional story. The setting was stunning and peaceful. The characters were engaging and real. I just really loved the journey that the story took me on. It completely captured my heart and my sense of adventure. I wanted to be out in the fresh air of Wisconsin with these characters canoeing, sitting by the campfire, hiking, and even dancing. A lovely feel good story with a couple twist and turns.

The girl, Margaret, seems lost in the world and Julie wants to help her—but when she finds letters in the girl’s backpack, Julie realizes Margaret isn’t telling the whole truth about why she’s here.

If Margaret finds what she’s looking for, it could expose a long-buried secret that could destroy the resort’s reputation and tear Julie’s family apart. And as the summer draws to a close, Julie must make a choice: will she return to Chicago with the man she married, or stay and fight for her parents and the home she loves?

Amelia Unabridged by Ashley Schumacher **Book Review** @wednesdaybooks

Happy Tuesday y’all!

This was such a wonderful story that every book lover will adore! Have some tissue handy!📚

My Thoughts

WOW what a book! A true gem! This book absolutely exceeded my expectations. I’m not certain what I was anticipating but I wasn’t expecting such a beautiful story that pulled on my heartstrings. Amelia and Jenna are BFFs who bonded over their love of books. For their graduation trip the friends go to a book festival with the hopes of meeting the author of their favorite fantasy series. When Jenna happens to meet the enigmatic Author and Amelia doesn’t it causes a rift in the friendship. Jenna is killed in a car accident while visiting Ireland and Amelia is heartbroken that they never really set their friendship right. When Amelia received a mysterious book in the mail from their favorite author she goes on a quest to Michigan to find out how Jenna sent her this book. And more importantly what is the message behind this unexpected gift.

Such a gorgeously told story filled with grief, hope, resilience, and love. Amelia was such a wonderful character I was completely captivated by her story. The bookshop that she travels to in Michigan was serious book heaven. I just loved all the vivid descriptions of the shop I felt like I was right there alongside Amelia. The Romance in the Story was so touching it hit me right in the feels. The connection between Amelia and Nolan was emotional and real. I could go on and on but I will spare you all. If you are looking for a stunning story that will make you smile, swoon, sigh and cry, then this is the book for you!

About the Book

Eighteen-year-old Amelia Griffin is obsessed with the famous Orman Chronicles, written by the young and reclusive prodigy N. E. Endsley. They’re the books that brought her and her best friend Jenna together after Amelia’s father left and her family imploded. So when Amelia and Jenna get the opportunity to attend a book festival with Endsley in attendance, Amelia is ecstatic. It’s the perfect way to start off their last summer before college.

In a heartbeat, everything goes horribly wrong. When Jenna gets a chance to meet the author and Amelia doesn’t, the two have a blowout fight like they’ve never experienced. And before Amelia has a chance to mend things, Jenna is killed in a freak car accident. Grief-stricken, and without her best friend to guide her, Amelia questions everything she had planned for the future.

When a mysterious, rare edition of the Orman Chronicles arrives, Amelia is convinced that it somehow came from Jenna. Tracking the book to an obscure but enchanting bookstore in Michigan, Amelia is shocked to find herself face-to-face with the enigmatic and handsome N. E. Endsley himself, the reason for Amelia’s and Jenna’s fight and perhaps the clue to what Jenna wanted to tell her all along.

Ashley Schumacher’s devastating and beautiful debut, Amelia Unabridged, is about finding hope and strength within yourself, and maybe, just maybe, falling in love while you do it.
