Strong by Kylie Scott @KylieScottbooks @InkSlingerPR #PubDay

Happy Tuesday y’all!

Today is publication day for this delightful novella in the Stage Dive series💕

I have already read it and loved it! and my full review will be up on the day of my tour stop October 5!

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kylie Scott comes a new story in her Stage Dive series…

When the girl of your dreams is kind of a nightmare.

As head of security to Stage Dive, one of the biggest rock bands in the world, Sam Knowles has plenty of experience dealing with trouble. But spoilt brat Martha Nicholson just might be the worst thing he’s ever encountered. The beautiful troublemaker claims to have reformed, but Sam knows better than to think with what’s in his pants. Unfortunately, it’s not so easy to make his heart fall into line.

Martha’s had her sights on the seriously built bodyguard for years. Quiet and conservative, he’s not even remotely her type. So why the hell can’t she get him out of her mind? There’s more to her than the Louboutin wearing party-girl of previous years, however. Maybe it’s time to let him in on that fact and deal with this thing between them.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

“Ooh, busted,” said Lizzy. “The bodyguard caught you looking.”

“Shut it.” I inched my chin up a bit, trying not to frown because frowning gave you lines. “Sam and I have known each other for years and nothing has ever happened. You’re completely wrong about this.”

“Am I?”

“Yes, there’s nothing between us.”

“So that’s why you were staring at him?”

I chose not to answer that. “And you know he prefers to be called executive protection officer instead of bodyguard.”

At this, Lizzy burst out giggling, a malicious glee in her eyes. No wonder I liked my sister-in-law these days.

Ben shot us both an irritated glance. We both ignored it.

Of course, I’d known Sam would probably be here. Rock stars going out in public could be a delicate thing. People had a tendency to get overexcited. And while one person wanting an autograph wasn’t a problem, twenty or thirty of them suddenly swarming definitely could be. Having once been part of the entourage, I’d seen it happen to Ben and his fellow Stage Dive band members enough times to be wary. And you couldn’t get by with ordinary security. Rock stars needed protection from their over-zealous fans, but on the other hand they didn’t want the fans roughed up or hurt in any way. It required a delicate balance: control, experience, and a whole gamut of scary physical skills. Hence Sam.

Still, Portland seemed generally less crazy than the good old days back in LA. All of the guys seemed calmer and more settled away from the constant craziness of the party scene. Not to mention the effect of all of the wives/partners and various offspring. The biggest rock band in the world had officially been domesticated.

It was kind of cute. Or sad. I don’t know.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to stir you,” she lied. “What do you think of your brother’s new musical bromance?”

On the small stage set up in the corner of the room, a young man wailed his heart out while playing an acoustic guitar. Much angst about a girl who only called him after midnight. Trust a rockster to turn a simple booty call into a heartbreaking ballad. The song was damn good though. He had talent. If only I hadn’t had my fill of the type when I was younger. The kid looked to be in his early to mid-twenties. Lanky with lots of tattoos. Your typical rock ’n roll Prince Charming. Gag. These days my type ran more toward…actually, what I needed or wanted in a male was a total mystery.

And my gaze did not stray back to Sam. That did not happen.

Perfect Girls by Alison James@AlisonJbooks @bookouture #Bookouture

Happy Sunday and Happy Birthday to my blog partner Vicci🎉🎉🎉 hope your day is as wonderful as you are!

To celebrate I am thrilled to be part of the blog tour for the third book in this fantastic series! Thank you to Noelle for my invitation and to Alison James for her wonderful book!🚨

Perfect-Girls-Kindle

Phoebe. Tiffany. Melissa. They all made one little mistake…

When twenty-five-year-old Phoebe Stiles opens the door to her perfect apartment she doesn’t realise it’s the mistake that will kill her…

The body of the beautiful English girl is discovered months later – dumped behind the back of a department store. But who was the stranger she let into the safety of her home?

As Detective Rachel Prince pieces together the mystery surrounding Phoebe’s death, another young, blonde girl is found brutally murdered and abandoned in the grounds of an old theatre.

In the most dangerous case of her career, Rachel must track down the faceless individual to stop the body count rising. But to uncover the shocking truth, Rachel has to put herself at risk… can she catch the twisted killer, before they catch her?

A gripping page-turner that will have you completely hooked until the utterly jaw-dropping twist. Fans of Angela Marsons, Peter James and Karin Slaughter will love this crime series, featuring unforgettable Detective Rachel Prince.

My Thoughts

Somebody is killing off all the “perfect“ blondes!!!

This is the third book in the DI Rachel Prince series… Rachel is an international liaison officer, this time the job takes her to Los Angeles…. ironically part of my love for the series is that it is set in the UK, but this time I found Rachel on my doorstep! Not that I did not thoroughly enjoy this book, it was quite fun watching Rachel outsmart the entire LAPD….

When the body of phoebe, a British citizen, is discovered Rachel is called to action… while Rachel is in LA another body is discovered, another “perfect“ blonde… even though the LAPD has made an arrest in Phoebe’s case Rachel is convinced they are wrong, and there is a serial killer on the loose…. obsessed with the case eventually Rachel take some time out to investigate on her own time and dime…

This is a fast paced, action packed, addictive read! Rachel is a very relatable and likable female protagonist, a little less prickly than a lot of other female detectives…. although admittedly I was hoping there’d be a little more about her relationship with Mark, maybe in the next book? Also the believability that Rachel single-handedly out detected all law-enforcement of the United States while entertaining, was unlikely, I hope!

Another fabulous installment in this detective series that is fast becoming one of my favorites! Absolutely recommend if you are a fan of the police procedural with a strong smart female protagonist…

The Lion Tamer Who Lost by Louise Beech @LouiseWriter @OrendoBooks @annecater #BookReview #RandomThingsTours

thumbnail_Lion Tamer front cover final

• A devastatingly beautiful love story with a dark and tragic heart
• Travels from Zimbabwe to England, and back into the past
• Exquisitely explores LGBTQ themes
• Louise Beech’s fiction has been compared to the early works of
Maggie O’Farrell (Irish Times) and Gail Honeyman (Red and
Prima)
• Multi-platform, buzz-building marketing & publicity campaign

Long ago Andrew made a childhood wish. One he has always kept in a silver box with a too-big lid that falls off. When it finally comes true, he wishes it hadn’t…

Long ago Ben dreamed of going to Africa to volunteer at a lion reserve. When he finally goes there, it isn’t for the reasons he imagined…

Ben and Andrew keep meeting where they least expect. Some collisions are by design, but are they for a reason? Ben’s father would disown him for his relationship with Andrew, so they must hide their love. Andrew is determined to make it work, but secrets from his past threaten to ruin everything.

Ben escapes to Zimbabwe to finally fulfil his lifelong ambition. But will he ever return to England? To Andrew? To the truth?

A dark and poignant drama, The Lion Tamer Who Lost is also a mesmerisingly beautiful love story, with a tragic heart..

My Thoughts

A beautiful and poignant love story… A real and raw tale filled with heartbreak, hope, secrets, and truth… A book that seamlessly travels between past and present, Africa and the UK….

This is the story of Ben and Andrew, a love story fraught with prejudice and secrets…. I have to admit I had a bit of a soft spot for Andrew, there was something about him that just was so sweet (for lack of a better word)…. you absolutely could feel the connection between these two and really wanted nothing but the absolute best for them! I love a book that makes you feel strongly for the characters, and this book did just that! I loved with them, I hoped with them, I struggled with them, I cried with them…. I started this book for the beautiful setting of the lion rescue, but I stayed for these amazing characters!

An evocative story that will leave you with a lump in your throat and hope in your heart 💕 absolutely recommend for those of you that love a good story that Will illicit all the feels!

Costa Del Churros by Isabella May @IsabellaMayBks @rararesources #BookReview #Giveaway #PubDay

Happy Book Birthday to this delightful story!

Excited to help celebrate publication day! Thank you to Rachel for my invitation and Isabella May for her lovely words!🎉🎊🎉🎊

Costa Del Churros

The rain in Spain doesn’t mainly fall on the plain…

Brits abroad Belinda, Julia, Laura and Georgina need more than the sweetness of churros with chocolate dipping sauce to save them from their unsavoury states of affairs.

Cue Carmen Maria Abril de la Fuente Ferrera, the town’s flamboyant flamenco teacher! But can she really be the answer to their prayers?

One thing’s for sure: the Costa del Sol will never be the same again.

My Thoughts

Churros and friendship and flamenco… oh my!

This was a fun story about four ex-pats living in sunny Spain… four very different women who bonded during an unconventional flamenco class… now I know absolutely nothing about flamenco, although I do know more now than I did before I read this book, I think?

This book was told from the perspective of each of these ladies who lead a much different life than my own…. these were characters that did not immediately speak to me, but by the end of this book I found myself completely engaged in their lives… this is a beautiful story about friendship, family, and of course food!

This book left me with a big smile on my face, a bounce in my step, and a craving for churros! Absolutely recommend for a quick escape to Spain…

Lies by T. M. Logan @TMLoganAuthor @StMartinsPress #BookReview #PubDay #BookBestieApproved

Happy Tuesday book friends!

Delighted to share my review for another #BookBestieApproved book. LIES, kept all of us riveted to those pages, we couldn’t wait to see what in the world was behind all those lies!

Lies by T. M. Logan

My Thoughts

Engrossing! Engaging! Frightening!

Lies lies lies yeah (they’re gonna get you)

Lies lies lies yeah (they won’t forget you)

Lies lies lies yeah (they’re gonna get you)

Lies lies lies yeah

Oh you know I know

This song went through my mind every time I picked up this book, so I thought I’d share with you all! And you’re welcome if this song runs through your head the rest of the day…

This book pulled me in right from the start and did not let go until that unpredictable ending! One small inconsequential decision can alter the course of a life irreparably… if you go to Red Lobster instead of Red Robin perhaps you Will meet the man of your dreams… if you had made a left instead of a right perhaps you would not have got in that car accident… or in the case of this book perhaps if Joe hadn’t followed his wife’s car when he saw it, he wouldn’t have ended up in the middle of a murder investigation….

Joe has the perfect life I loving wife, and an adorable little boy, but as an all good psychological thrillers things aren’t always as they seem…. One day on the way home from picking up his son William from school they see his wife’s car turning left ahead of them… prompted by his son who is eager to share his recently acquired award with his mom, Joe chooses to follow his wife…. and his life will never be the same again!

This book kept me on the edge of my seat and had me quickly turn in those pages, I just had to know what in the world was going on! And the ending? Did not see that coming… all my speculating never took me in the direction that this book ultimately went in… but the scariest thing in this book was the part that technology and social media played…. how hard it is to dispute something that has been posted on social media… or your location when a cell tower pinged when a message…. was sent from your phone…. in this book technology and social media both helped and hurt Joe, and I’m not sure what the ultimate pay off was… but it did truly make you think about social media and how much that has altered today society and our perceptions….

Absolutely recommend two fans of good suspenseful edge of your seat psychological thrillers!

I Do Not Trust You by Laura J Burns & Melinda Metz @TwoHeadedWriter @WednesdayBooks #BookReview

Happy Monday book lovers!

Delighted to be on the blog tour and share with you today my review for this intriguing book! Many thanks to Brittani Hilles for my invitation!💛

37638243

Memphis “M” Engel is stubborn to a fault, graced with an almost absurd knowledge of long lost languages and cultures, and a heck of an opponent in a fight. In short: she’s awesome.

Ashwin “Ash” Sood is a little too posh for M’s tastes, a little too good looking, and has way too many secrets. He desperately wants the ancient map M inherited from her archeologist father, believing it will lead him to a relic with the power to destroy the world. M obviously can’t trust him.

Equally desperate to find the relic for reasons of her own, M forms an uneasy partnership with Ash. From the catacombs of Paris, to a sacred forest in Norway, to the ruins of a submerged temple in Egypt, together they crisscross the globe in their search. But through it all, M can never be sure: Is she traveling with a friend or enemy?

My Thoughts

Intrigue! Mythology! Distrust!

Laura Croft move over and make some room for Memphis! This book was filled with mystery, intrigue, mythology, Magic, and travels, and it was a lot of fun! This book takes you all over the world from the US to Norway to Paris to Egypt…. this book is a little step out of my usual reading but I’m glad I read it! I think I would classify this more as a mystery rather than adventure?

Memphis was a witty, Independent, and intriguing young lady. With a propensity for languages and a skill for the martial arts… grieving the death of her father Memphis is dealing with day-to-day teenage life until…Ash…. Ash is smart, good looking with abs of steel and a heart of gold…. well maybe not a heart of gold, but apparently he’s got those abs! He also has some information for Memphis… Memphis’s father is not dead, he is being held by a cult… in order to save her father and armed with an ancient map, Memphis and Ash travel near and far to find the “key“ to it all…. but is Ash friend or foe? Can he be trusted or not?

Loved the relationship between Memphis and Ash, loved watching them trying to figure out if the other was trustworthy or not… also I really enjoyed all the mythology and the supernatural elements…. The book started pretty ramped up but then it fell into a more steady pace, admittedly it almost stalled at a point, but fortunately it picked up again….

This was a fun read that I recommend if you enjoy mythology, intrigue, teenage angst, the supernatural, and exciting travels!

5 Stunning Stars🌟 Sadie by Courtney Summers @courtney_s @WednesdayBooks #BookReview

Happy Sunday book lovers!

I have a real treat for you today! Grill to share my review for this stunning and powerful book! 💕💕

Sadie by Courtney Summers

My Thoughts

Stunning! Powerful! Uncomfortable!

WOW! Courtney Summers…. you pulled out my heart, ran it over a few times, and put it back, never to be the same again! This book was so ugly and yet so beautiful… so difficult and yet so easy… so heartbreaking and yet so hopeful… A book that will stay with you long after you finish reading the last page…. sadie is a girl that will not allow you to ever forget her! She is your sister, she is your daughter, she is your best friend, she is you!

Sadie is 19 and has not had the easiest of lives… she never knew her father and her mother abandoned her leaving her to take care of her younger sister Mattie… after Mattie is murdered Sadie is devastated and determined… determined to find and kill the man who killed her sister, because her sister was her whole world… told in alternating narratives from Sadie in the first person on her quest to find the man who killed her sister… and also from West McCray A radio personality recording an investigative podcast on the disappearance of Sadie…. I thought this was a very impactful way to structure the story…. we got the real and raw look into the mind of Sadie along with a look at how others saw her through West’s investigation…. and what we learned from this was that Sadie was an edgy, unforgettable damaged soul with a big heart…

Sadie’s story is riveting, but not easy to digest… this book took me a little longer to read then most, it took me some time to internalize some things… and sometimes I needed to just put the book down and take a few breaths…. sadie broke my heart and I just wanted to reach through those pages give her a big hug and let her know there was someone out there that did care….

Absolutely recommend! This is a hyped book that deserves every bit of the hype it is getting!

*** many thanks to Wednesday Books/St. Martin’s Press for my copy of this book ***

About the Book

Sadie hasn’t had an easy life. Growing up on her own, she’s been raising her sister Mattie in an isolated small town, trying her best to provide a normal life and keep their heads above water.

But when Mattie is found dead, Sadie’s entire world crumbles. After a somewhat botched police investigation, Sadie is determined to bring her sister’s killer to justice and hits the road following a few meagre clues to find him.

When West McCray—a radio personality working on a segment about small, forgotten towns in America—overhears Sadie’s story at a local gas station, he becomes obsessed with finding the missing girl. He starts his own podcast as he tracks Sadie’s journey, trying to figure out what happened, hoping to find her before it’s too late.

I Give You My Heart by SarahJane Ford @sjfordauthor @rararesources #BookReview #Giveaway

Happy Saturday book lovers!

Excited to share with you today my review of this beautiful and emotional book! Many thanks to Rachel for my invitation to the blog tour and to SarahJane Ford for her beautiful words💔💗💞

I Give You My Heart

I Give You My Heart

𝗔 𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘀. 𝗔 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲. 𝗔 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁.

Alice Richards looked forward to watching the seeds of love she and her husband planted bloom and grow well into their old age. But her plans for the future shrivel up and die when she learns she has an inoperable brain tumour.

Determined that she won’t die in vain, she decides to become an organ donor. With a few precious months left, Alice begins documenting her fairytale romance—from their first meeting to the children they dreamed of having. She’ll pass on every detail to her heart’s next owner… along with careful instructions to send her husband reminders of her undying love. Before her time runs out, Alice must find the perfect candidate to guide her husband through unimaginable grief and hold the memory of their love in her heart.

I Give You My Heart is an emotional romantic fiction novel with an uplifting message. If you like strong-willed women, undying love stories, and honest portrayals of coping with a terminal illness, then you’ll love SarahJane Ford’s heart-warming epic.

An unmissable love story full of warmth, beauty and with a huge, beating heart. Perfect for fans of Cecilia Ahern’s ‘P.S. I Love You’ and Jojo Moyes’ ‘Me Before You’.

My Thoughts

Beautiful! Heartwrenching! Hopeful!

Do not read this book without a huge box of Kleenex nearby! This book doesn’t evoke just settle tears running down the face… no, it evokes that ugly cry you know that makes your nose run! From the blurb you know this book will touch on some pretty emotional subjects, but the execution is simply beautiful… it is quite amazing this is a debut because it was just so well crafted from beginning to end…

Alice and Alex have a fairytale relationship, unfortunately they won’t get to live happily ever after… Alice is diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, and rather than wallowing in self-pity… she takes it upon herself to ensure that the love of her life will be OK without her…. Alice was such a remarkable character, strong-willed, selfless, caring, someone you would want to be friends with….Determined to make something positive out of her death she is determined to donate 22 organs, with her heart being the most precious out of these…. her plan for her heart is to give it to somebody who is very deserving someone who will help her husband remember and move on…. I have to admit I did think to myself I’m not sure if I could take on such responsibility…. Alice was going to leave some pretty big shoes to fill never mind her heart! And her instruction manual was a bit well… specific and bossy….

We also got a look into the beautiful love story of Alice and Alex… how they met to present day…. their story was quite epic… the kind of love we all dream of when we are little girls, that some of us are lucky enough to find…

This is such a beautiful book filled with so much heart and hope… absolutely recommend when you need a little dose of reality… seriously, if Alice could find a bit of a Brightside in the dark, then so can we all!

4.5 Startling Stars🌟 When the Lights Go Out by Mary Kubica @MaryKubica @HarlequinBooks #BookReview #PubDay

Happy Tuesday that seems like a Monday! Those long weekends always throw me off!

Thrilled to share with you my review for this suspense filled book with a bit of a controversial ending, that I personally loved!💕

When the Lights Go Out by Mary Kubica

My Thoughts

4.5 Startling Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟💫

WOW! Whether intentional or not this book definitely has an ending that has caused some controversy… for me the ending was absolute PERFECTION! It made every piece of the puzzle in this book fall into place and make complete sense….I’ve read other reviews and people described their reaction to the twist as a gasp, or frustration, or pure hatred… not me… my reaction was…. AHA! now I understand….. now I get what ____ was,And why ____ happened! This is not to say I don’t understand why this ending did not appeal to everybody, because I do… but I think everyone needs to read the book and figure out if it works for them or not….

This was my very first Mary Kubica Book… and I’m not sure why, but I can guarantee I will remedy that real quick…. her writing was so beautiful and smooth, almost lyrical…. even though this was a slow burning suspense I found the pacing perfect… The characters were so well drawn and relatable… I empathized with Eden’s struggles and felt Jessie’s grief…. all the little hints sprinkled throughout this book that made that ending so perfect for me, were just brilliant….

Told from Jesse’s point of view in the present and Eden’s point of view in 1996…. Jesse is a young 20-year-old grieving the loss of her mother and trying to figure out who she really is… literally trying to figure out who she is, after finding out that her Social Security number belongs to a dead girl… eden is a young wife struggling with infertility…. my mind ran through so many scenarios as to who Jesse really was and what Eden had done…. both mother and daughter had tremendous love and respect for one another… you just wanted there to be a good answer for all of your questions….

Absolutely recommend to those who enjoy a good suspense thriller filled with some surprising twists….

About the Book

1996. The year the Tamagotchi was born, Charles and Diana divorced, England reached the semi-finals of the World Cup and five British women told the world what they really, really wanted.

Sarah, Laura, Gemma, Benny and Carmen have been best friends all their lives. They have survived high school, finding salvation in their friendship and through the guidance of their ringleader Carmen. However, the year they turn 13 is the year everything changes. In order to find love Carmen enters the group into the school talent show, thrusting her reluctant friends into the limelight. Forming a Spice Girls tribute act called The Spice ack, Carmen assigns each of her friends a role in the band. The gig is a disaster, and the group never speak again.

2018. The year the Tamigotchi is reborn on iOS, Harry and Meghan get married, England crash out of the World Cup and five women put aside their differences and reunited for a Goodbye tour.

Carmen tracks down Sarah, Laura, Gemma and Benny on Facebook and in an attempt to rekindle their friendship invites them to a school reunion to perform as The Spice Rack. The easy friendship they once shared returns, and whilst the costumes are a little less forgiving they comfortably settle back into the roles of their childhood. But on the morning of the reunion disaster strikes. Will they be able to put aside their differences? Or will things never be the same again?
