A Scandinavian Summer by Helga Jensen ☀️Book Review☀ @rararesources

Happy Monday friends!

Today is Labor Day in the US, the unofficial end to summer. What better way to celebrate then review a fabulous summer read! If you’re anything like me you want to hold onto summer as long as possible!☀️

My Thoughts

The perfect book to end summer with! Martha has focused all her energy on her daughter Rosie, after her husband passes away. now Rosie is heading abroad and Martha realizes that there is something missing in her life. Even though she enjoys her job at the library, she knows there is more to life than the current life she’s living. Martha does enjoy her Scandi noirs and this inspires her to book a trip to Denmark. i’d like to add right here that this book inspired me to want to book a trip to Denmark! The cottage and island where Martha stays are simply delightful. not to mention Lars. I wonder if the travel agent could guarantee I’d meet a Lars if I were to go to Denmark? Anyways I digress… I truly enjoyed this book, I love a romance that involves a woman of a certain age *my age* I also found Rosie‘s idea of her mother’s life tremendously relatable. Lars was a great love interest and I really loved how the relationship developed between Martha and him. This just really was a fun feel good romcom filled with quirky characters.☀️

About the Book

A Scandinavian Summer

It’s the right time for love, but is it the wrong place?

After the tragic, premature death of her husband Anthony, Martha has spent all her time focused on her teenage daughter Rosie in their small Welsh village.

But with Rosie leaving the nest, and Martha’s own job on the line, it feels that life is passing her by.

Inspired by her love for Scandi-noir dramas, Martha impulsively books a trip to Denmark, determined to push herself out of her comfort zone – even if the thought terrifies her…

Her trip to the tiny island of Fano becomes something much more: in the form of handsome stranger, Lars. Can Martha find love under the Scandinavian skies… but more importantly, can she find herself?

A romantic, warm and uplifting read, guaranteed to leave you smiling. Fans of Jenny Colgan and Kathryn Freeman will adore this feelgood read!

The Wedding Cake by Isabella May 👰🏻‍♀️Book Review👰🏻‍♀️ @rararesources

Happy weekend!

This weekend I’m doing something kind of crazy the Goggins challenge. What is this? I am cycling for 45 minutes every four hours for 48 hours, along with a few other fitness nuts. between rides I am reading! The perfect weekend my two favorite things working out and reading!🚴🏻‍♀️📚

My Thoughts

A perfect summer read! Romance, wedding plans, scrumptious cake, bridezillas. told from three alternating perspectives: Freya, Alice, and Tim. i’ve just loved everything about this book and enjoyed spending every minute with (almost) all of these characters. I was a little concerned I wasn’t going to like how things played out between Freya and Tim (it was complicated) but I have to say I like how things came together. then we had Piper who was a great character that I loved to hate. all the food descriptions in this book especially of the cakes made me so hungry. and the setting was chef’s kiss. A beautiful story with a gorgeous setting, delicious food, and delightful characters.

About the Book

The Wedding Cake

One summer in Spain.

One accidentally double-booked eight-tier wedding cake that needs to put in a same day appearance at a rustic countryside finca AND a beachside villa.

My Thoughts

🚚

About the Book

Summer Showers at Elder Fell Farm

A simple holiday just got complicated …

Single mum Amy has been struggling since her mother’s death and now her son, Harry, has been accused of bullying schoolmate Oliver — giving Amy’s dictatorial ex-husband yet another reason to criticise her parenting.

All Amy wants is the chance to spend time with her son. Where better to escape all her troubles than camping at the remote but beautiful Lake District farm where she spent idyllic summers with her mother when she was a little girl?

Her tranquil escape seems doomed when Oliver, and his widowed dad, Matt, turn up on the neighbouring pitch — but at Elder Fell Farm, unlikely friendships can be forged. Are Matt and Amy ready to fall in love again? And will their boys bring them together – or drive them apart?

Author Bio –

Liz has always surrounded herself with books.

As a child, she was always to be found with her head in one and she still has a bookcase full of her childhood favourites to this day. She went on to work in a library cataloguing early printed books – but as most of the books turned out to be volumes of sermons, she wasn’t tempted to read them all!

Children interrupted her bibliographic career, and Liz started writing fiction and hasn’t stopped since, joining the Romantic Novelists’ Association New Writers’ Scheme in 2015 to try to learn how to write novels properly.  This led to publication of her first romantic novel, The Little Church by the Sea in late 2017, followed by The Manor on the Moors in 2019.

When Covid struck, Liz was working on a novel set in the 1990s, but sadly research proved difficult when she could no longer access the microfilm readers at the reference library. Instead, she wrote Summer Showers at Elder Fell Farm which relied largely on her own experiences of campervans, campsites and noisy children.

Field Rules by Carla Luna ☀️Book Review☀️ @rararesources

Happy hump day!

Never knew I would love an archaeological romance so much!☀️

My Thoughts

Such an engagingly sweet second chance romance! when I first read the blurb for this book I wasn’t quite sure. I know nothing about archaeology, nor do I want to know anything. Or so I thought. Olivia is thrilled to finally be out on a dig in Cypress, that is until Rick shows up. not only is Rick her ex, but he is the reason that her career has been a bit derailed. The chemistry between these two was HOT! I loved getting to know both of them and learning why they split up in the first place. The archaeology part of the story was actually quite interesting and accessible. But don’t worry it does not get bogged down in archaeological information. The secondary characters were wonderful and I’m looking forward to more stories in this series. And can I just say the setting was magnificent! Love when I can travel somewhere new in a book. A great romance that will make your heart go pitter patter.

About the Book

Field Rules

What happens in the field, stays in the field. Or does it?

After the disastrous way her first archaeological dig ended, graduate student Olivia Sanchez abandoned her dreams of working in the field. Now, thanks to a last-minute teaching opportunity in Cyprus, she’ll get another chance to explore ancient history firsthand. This time, failure isn’t an option.

But digging up the past takes on a whole new meaning when she’s forced to team up with her ex, shovel bum Rick Langston.

For years, Rick has proven his archaeological skills all over the Mediterranean. But with no graduate degree—and a habit of attracting trouble—his reputation could use a little rehab. All he has to do is play by the rules while he’s in Cyprus and he’ll secure a coveted recommendation for his next job. Until Olivia resurfaces like a cursed relic from the past.

Given that their last fling nearly led to their academic ruin, Olivia and Rick can’t afford to repeat their past mistakes. But as they work together under the scorching Mediterranean sun, the heat between them proves impossible to ignore.

Someone Else’s Honeymoon by Phoebe MacLeod 🌴Book Review🌴 @rararesources @boldwoodbooks

Happy Thursday Bookworm!

So excited to share with you my review for this fun flirty romcom! Son, sand, book in hand!☀️

My Thoughts

What a fun flirty story! not only does Charlie get a toothbrush for Christmas from her boyfriend of 10 years, but she also finds a pair of panties that don’t belong to her under the bed. Newly Single Charlie moves back home with her parents and reinvents herself with the help of her BFF Maddie. we all need parents like Charlie‘s who take her on a all expenses paid trip to Antigua where she meets Ed. Ed was on a reality TV show similar to Married At First Sight where things did not go to plan and he is now on his honeymoon solo. Charlie was such a great character and I loved her glow up and her friendship with Maddie. I actually wish someone in her life had told her years ago that ex-boyfriend Josh was a complete tool, she was fortunate to get out of that situation. I love the part the reality TV show played in the book, I am a complete reality trash TV fan. ed was a great guy and I was definitely rooting for things to work out between Charlie and him. this was just a sweet feel good romcom that made me smile!

*** Big thank you to Boldwood Books for my gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own. ***

Caper Crush by Kathy Strobos 📚Book Review📚 @rararesources

Happy hump day all!

Hope all is well! Excited and delighted to share my review of this fun romance sprinkled with a generous dose of Mystery.🎨

My Thoughts

A fun romance sprinkled with a generous dose of mystery. Miranda is a struggling artist on the verge of her big break, until her painting is stolen. Straight laced William has known Miranda most of his life. And now not only is he caught up in finding her missing painting, but he’s also getting caught up in her. Loved both of these characters! Miranda is a sassy free spirit who I would love as a friend. William has a heart of gold under his buttoned up exterior. It was a lot of fun Reading about these two solving the mystery and falling in love. A lovely story that will make you smile and want some abstract art. 💕😂🧠🐄🎨

About the Book

Caper Crush

A feel-good, opposites-attract, slow burn romantic comedy

Somebody stole my painting! The one I need for the career-defining Vertex Art Exhibit. This upcoming art show is my chance to finally be recognized as an artist—after ten years of waitressing and being asked if I still have that “lovely painting hobby.”

I have mere weeks to find my painting or lose my artist dream forever—but it’s going to mean working with William.

William Haruki Matsumura. Good-looking, if you like the Secret Service type. You know, law-abiding, protector of women and children. That’s all fine, but I can never tell what he’s thinking. Which drives me crazy.

He insists on coming along to do “damage control.” As if “accidentally” wandering into certain areas is “breaking and entering.” I may be an emotional artist, but William shouldn’t dismiss my investigative skills yet.

William is definitely my opposite, and, if there’s one takeaway from my parents’ divorce, it’s that opposites might attract, but it doesn’t last. But detecting with William is kind of fun—and fluttery. I definitely can’t trust these feelings, or can I? However this caper ends, I think this may be more than a crush.

The House Swap by Jo Lovett **Book Review** @bookouture

Happy weekend book friends!

This was such a fun story, the perfect little escape!🏡

My Thoughts

Super cute! This was the sweet lighthearted story I was in the mood for! Cassie is a free spirit living in a beachside cottage in Maine. James is more buttoned up living in a flat in London. The two of them meet on a house swap website when both of them are in need of a change of scenery. Cassie is less than pleased when she is confronted by James’s stalker ex-girlfriend. And James doesn’t know what to think, he was not expecting alpacas and a bunch of nosy neighbors. I know it sounds somewhat predictable, but the journey was so fun!

Loved how Cassie and James got to know one another through messages and phone calls. It was a definite sort of enemies to lovers slow burn Romance and I was here for it. Now I think if I had to choose Maine or London I’d probably choose Maine? Cassie was a fabulous character from the get go James on the other hand… He did however have quite a bit of character growth throughout the story and I did like him by the end. I really really liked Cassie and James together. This was just a totally adorable story that put a BIG smile on my face!

About the Book

Island house off coast of Maine, with private beach, sea views and the occasional farmyard animal, seeks super swanky Central London penthouse overlooking Holland Park, complete with concierge service and spurned ex-lovers…

When thirty-somethings Cassie and James find each other on a home swap website, it feels meant to be. City hotshot James needs a bolthole after a relationship goes sour and Cassie needs to leave the comfort of her little island to research her new book.

Soon, James is living in Cassie’s cute but ramshackle beachside cottage, and Cassie’s living in James’s luxurious London apartment. It’s the perfect solution.

Except James didn’t imagine he’d be sharing his home with eleven chickens and three alpacas, not to mention the unusually friendly neighbours, who seem to find any excuse to drop by. And Cassie is less than impressed when James’s ex-girlfriend turns up at his door, demanding to know where he’s gone.

The more Cassie and James talk, the more the tension between them mounts. But as the insults fly so do the sparks, and when the time finally comes to swap back, Cassie and James find they aren’t quite ready to give each other up.

But there’s more than just distance between them – and when Cassie makes a surprising discovery, the pair are forced to confront their feelings and decide what kind of life they really want.

An utterly heart-warming love story that will make you laugh and cry, fans of The FlatshareThe Hating Game and movies like The Holiday will fall head over heels for The House Swap.

❤️The Love Proof by Madeleine Henry **Book Review** @atriabooks

happy Valentine’s Day!

Excited to share with you today my review for an extraordinary Romance unlike any you’ve read before!💕

My Thoughts

Love+Physics+Time=THE LOVE PROOF

What a book! Madeleine Henry started with a love story, mixed in a generous drop of science, and the result is a Romance like no other. Sophie Jones is brilliant. She spent her childhood voraciously reading and Digesting endless amounts of knowledge. Now she is starting her collegiate career at Yale and studying her prime passion time. When Sophie meets Jake her first week of Yale she is overwhelmed by the power of first love. For the first time in Sophie‘s life there is a distraction to her thirst for knowledge and she’s here for it. That is all you’re getting about the plot, because the true magic of the story is the unexpected direction it takes.

Sophie is such a sympathetic and lovable character. She is quirky, intelligent, insecure, and kind. Her motives were always so pure and true, she did not have a manipulative bone in her body. Jake I am conflicted about. On one hand I think he was a really good person that perhaps got a little caught up in his own ambition. But on the other hand…. there is a lot of science/time theory dropped into the story, but I think it was done in a very accessible way. Admittedly I’m not a big science person and I *think* I understood what was being said. At the heart of the book though this is truly an epic love story. I would have never thought a book with so much science in it would evoke so much emotion. If you are a fan of romance or good storytelling I cannot recommend this book enough.

About the Book

“Henry has done a masterful job…. This book is academic and heartfelt and tender and loving. It is worth every minute spent reading it.” (Kirkus Reviews, starred review)

A brilliant physicist studying the nature of time embarks on a journey to prove that those we love are always connected to us, leading to surprising revelations in this fresh and unique love story.

Sophie Jones is a physics prodigy on track to unlock the secrets of the universe. But when she meets Jake Kristopher during their first week at Yale, they instantly feel a deep connection, as if they’ve known each other before. Quickly, they become a couple. Slowly, their love lures Sophie away from school.

When a shocking development forces Sophie into a new reality, she returns to physics to make sense of her world. She grapples with life’s big questions, including how to cope with unexpected change and loss. Inspired by her connection with Jake, Sophie throws herself into her studies, determined to prove that true loves belong together in all realities.

Spanning decades, The Love Proof is an unusual love story about lasting connection, time, and intuition. It explores the course that perfect love can take between imperfect people, and urges us to listen to our hearts rather than our heads.

Have a day filled with love and books! XOXO Berit💛

The Little Swiss Ski Chalet by Julie Caplin **Book Review** @rararesources @onemorechapter

Happy Friday all!

What a week! This was such a wonderful story that left me craving chocolate and cheese!🧀🍫

The Little Swiss Ski Chalet

It’s time to pack your bags and head to the breathtaking, snow-covered peaks of the Swiss Alps for velvety hot chocolates, delicious cheeses and a gorgeous love story…

Food technician Minna has always believed that chocolate will solve everything – and it’s just what she needs when her latest relationship mishap goes viral!

So with her bags packed and a new determination to sort her life out, Minna decides to drown her sorrows with the best hot chocolate in the world at her godmother’s cosy Swiss chalet. Chocolate: yes. Romance: no. Until she has a run in on an Alpine train with a mysterious but oh-so-gorgeous stranger…

My Thoughts

Chocolate, cheese, and serendipity! Julie Caplin’s vivid storytelling transported me to the snowy Swiss Alps. Mina is a fun loving, impetuous, free spirited Woman. when Mina‘s impetuousNess leads to an over-the-top impromptu proposal to her boyfriend things don’t go quite to plan. The bad news, the video of this humiliating moment goes viral. The good news, this leads to Mina heading to Switzerland. In Switzerland Mina stays in a charming chalet owned by her godmother where she meets all kinds of wonderful characters, including a hottie named Luke. even though Mina cannot deny her instant attraction to Luke she is putting on the breaks. Luke is way too much like her and that is NOT what she needs in her life right now. but the more time Mina spends in this gorgeous setting and with this gorgeous man the more she thinks maybe what she thought she needed is not what she needs at all.

Such a heartwarming and delightful story! I just loved everything about this book, even all the snow! mina was such a likable carefree character I just loved her spirit. She was seriously up for anything skiing both downhill and cross country, snowboarding, you name it she did it. Luke was such a charmer and there were so many moments between these two characters that so pulled at my heartstrings. One of my favorite parts of this book was the cheese and chocolate Train, cheese and chocolate are two of my favorite food groups it sounded like heaven to me! A stunning setting. Heartwarming characters. Sweet romance. Delectable goodies. A perfect escapist read.
