Field Rules by Carla Luna ☀️Book Review☀️ @rararesources

Happy hump day!

Never knew I would love an archaeological romance so much!☀️

My Thoughts

Such an engagingly sweet second chance romance! when I first read the blurb for this book I wasn’t quite sure. I know nothing about archaeology, nor do I want to know anything. Or so I thought. Olivia is thrilled to finally be out on a dig in Cypress, that is until Rick shows up. not only is Rick her ex, but he is the reason that her career has been a bit derailed. The chemistry between these two was HOT! I loved getting to know both of them and learning why they split up in the first place. The archaeology part of the story was actually quite interesting and accessible. But don’t worry it does not get bogged down in archaeological information. The secondary characters were wonderful and I’m looking forward to more stories in this series. And can I just say the setting was magnificent! Love when I can travel somewhere new in a book. A great romance that will make your heart go pitter patter.

About the Book

Field Rules

What happens in the field, stays in the field. Or does it?

After the disastrous way her first archaeological dig ended, graduate student Olivia Sanchez abandoned her dreams of working in the field. Now, thanks to a last-minute teaching opportunity in Cyprus, she’ll get another chance to explore ancient history firsthand. This time, failure isn’t an option.

But digging up the past takes on a whole new meaning when she’s forced to team up with her ex, shovel bum Rick Langston.

For years, Rick has proven his archaeological skills all over the Mediterranean. But with no graduate degree—and a habit of attracting trouble—his reputation could use a little rehab. All he has to do is play by the rules while he’s in Cyprus and he’ll secure a coveted recommendation for his next job. Until Olivia resurfaces like a cursed relic from the past.

Given that their last fling nearly led to their academic ruin, Olivia and Rick can’t afford to repeat their past mistakes. But as they work together under the scorching Mediterranean sun, the heat between them proves impossible to ignore.

The Little Theatre on Halfpenny Lane by Clodagh Murphy 🎭Book Review🎭 @rararesources

Happy Tuesday Friends!

Super excited to share with you today my review for this delightful story! A great sister story with a touch of romance! 🎭

The Little Theatre on Halfpenny Lane

My Thoughts

A sweet sister story with a dash of romance! Aoife and her sisters inherit an old theater when their great aunt passes away. they are determined to restore the theater to its former glory. However, Jonathan their great aunt’s godson has different plans. loved the lovely setting of the story, the old theater was a character itself. Aoife and her sisters were delightful, so real and relatable. I’m really hoping to see stories for her sisters in the future. The romance was sweet and satisfying, I thought it progressed at the perfect pace. Such an engaging heartwarming story!

About the Book

The Little Theatre on Halfpenny Lane

Aoife and her sisters know exactly what to do when they inherit their Great-aunt Detta’s theatre on Halfpenny Lane:

  • Restore the dilapidated building to its former glory.
  • Perform together on its stage to packed houses and rapturous applause.
  • Live happily ever after.

But they didn’t count on Detta leaving a share in the theatre to her godson, Jonathan. Now they’ll have to persuade him to buy into their vision of stardust and magic – or find the money to buy him out.

As they fight to save the theatre, Aoife also battles her growing feelings for Jonathan. Because she can’t let herself fall for the man who’s about to bring the curtain down on their dreams.

Someone Else’s Honeymoon by Phoebe MacLeod 🌴Book Review🌴 @rararesources @boldwoodbooks

Happy Thursday Bookworm!

So excited to share with you my review for this fun flirty romcom! Son, sand, book in hand!☀️

My Thoughts

What a fun flirty story! not only does Charlie get a toothbrush for Christmas from her boyfriend of 10 years, but she also finds a pair of panties that don’t belong to her under the bed. Newly Single Charlie moves back home with her parents and reinvents herself with the help of her BFF Maddie. we all need parents like Charlie‘s who take her on a all expenses paid trip to Antigua where she meets Ed. Ed was on a reality TV show similar to Married At First Sight where things did not go to plan and he is now on his honeymoon solo. Charlie was such a great character and I loved her glow up and her friendship with Maddie. I actually wish someone in her life had told her years ago that ex-boyfriend Josh was a complete tool, she was fortunate to get out of that situation. I love the part the reality TV show played in the book, I am a complete reality trash TV fan. ed was a great guy and I was definitely rooting for things to work out between Charlie and him. this was just a sweet feel good romcom that made me smile!

*** Big thank you to Boldwood Books for my gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own. ***

A Summer of Castles by Rachel Walkley 📚Book Review📚 @rararesources

Happy Thursday bookworms!

Do you enjoy visiting castles? Then you’ll love this book. Castles, ghosts, mystery and fun!🏰

My Thoughts

A magical summer read! Loved journeying to all these castles with Robin. Enjoyed The mystery and the super natural elements of the story. This book was not what I was expecting, but it was quite enjoyable! Ghosts, castles, photos and a secret “stalker“.

About the Book

A Summer of Castles

A Summer of Castles. A secret in ruins.

At the beginning of the sultry 2003 English summer, Robyn Yates quits her job to photograph fifteen castles for a man she’s never met. A man who won’t tell her his real name.

What motivates her is an unusual ability she can’t explain nor understand. Somebody does though and is keen to exploit her secret.

But Robyn isn’t alone on her journey. An artist is painting pictures of the same castles. Wherever she goes, so does he, like a stalker. But is he dangerous? And could this man be the same person who wants her photographs?

She decides to challenge him, never anticipating that the confrontation will change the path of both of their lives.

The stifling summer will eventually end, but will Robyn find out the truth in time?

Caper Crush by Kathy Strobos 📚Book Review📚 @rararesources

Happy hump day all!

Hope all is well! Excited and delighted to share my review of this fun romance sprinkled with a generous dose of Mystery.🎨

My Thoughts

A fun romance sprinkled with a generous dose of mystery. Miranda is a struggling artist on the verge of her big break, until her painting is stolen. Straight laced William has known Miranda most of his life. And now not only is he caught up in finding her missing painting, but he’s also getting caught up in her. Loved both of these characters! Miranda is a sassy free spirit who I would love as a friend. William has a heart of gold under his buttoned up exterior. It was a lot of fun Reading about these two solving the mystery and falling in love. A lovely story that will make you smile and want some abstract art. 💕😂🧠🐄🎨

About the Book

Caper Crush

A feel-good, opposites-attract, slow burn romantic comedy

Somebody stole my painting! The one I need for the career-defining Vertex Art Exhibit. This upcoming art show is my chance to finally be recognized as an artist—after ten years of waitressing and being asked if I still have that “lovely painting hobby.”

I have mere weeks to find my painting or lose my artist dream forever—but it’s going to mean working with William.

William Haruki Matsumura. Good-looking, if you like the Secret Service type. You know, law-abiding, protector of women and children. That’s all fine, but I can never tell what he’s thinking. Which drives me crazy.

He insists on coming along to do “damage control.” As if “accidentally” wandering into certain areas is “breaking and entering.” I may be an emotional artist, but William shouldn’t dismiss my investigative skills yet.

William is definitely my opposite, and, if there’s one takeaway from my parents’ divorce, it’s that opposites might attract, but it doesn’t last. But detecting with William is kind of fun—and fluttery. I definitely can’t trust these feelings, or can I? However this caper ends, I think this may be more than a crush.

The Sandy Cove Supper Club by Sian O’Gorman 📚Book Review📚 @rararesources

Happy Monday Bookworms!

Hope you’re having a fabulous day! Excited to share my review for this delightful book with you today!🐹

The Sandy Cove supper club book cover

My Thoughts

This book was an absolute delight! Sian O’Gorman’s descriptive writing swept me away to small town Ireland. Roisin is struggling with her self-confidence. Trapped in a deadend marriage and not quite sure what she wants to do with the rest of her life. I think most of us can relate to Roisin in one way or another. Roisin was very likable I was definitely rooting for her the entire time. Even though Roisin is married to a no good cad, she is surrounded by great friends and family. The secondary characters in the story added so much charm and whimsy. I also loved the supper club, made me hungry! This was a lovely summer read with the added bonus of a second chance romance!

*** Big thank you to Boldwood for my gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own. ***

About the Book

Working in the Council Planning office, Roisin dreams to escape the mundanity of her life. Her true passions are cooking and entertaining her family and friends but she lacks the confidence to take it any further. When a charity supper club is suggested by best friends Jools and Richard, Roisin has no choice and is reluctantly swept along to be head chef for the fundraiser.

With the help of her friends, Roisin starts to believe that there is more to life that moody writers, hamsters and poor hygiene and that maybe she has a few dreams of her own.

And that just when you think life has nothing left to give, your whole world can change.

Truly Madly Amy by Kerry Wilkinson 🎧Audiobook Review @bookouture @kerrywk

Happy hump day friends!

This book my friend is PERFECT for summer! A delightful coming of age story set at summer camp.☀️

Truly Madly Cover

My Thoughts

4 Nostalgic Summer Stars! ☀️

Title: Truely Madly Amy

Author: Kerry Wilkinson

Narrator: Joe Jameson

Story Rating: 4/5

Audio Rating: 4/5

📖 why you need to read this book!

• The book is jammed packed with nostalgic summer vibes.

• The summer camp setting was great.

• there really is nothing sweeter than first love!

• Joe and Amy are likable relatable characters.

🎧 why you need to listen to this book!

• I just love when a book set in the UK is told to me in an English accent.

This was a fun feel good coming of age summer read. I would say it is more of a book about Joe finding himself than a romance, but The innocence of first love is definitely present. I’ve seen other reviews that mention that there was “excessive teenage drinking“ in the story. I have no idea what the drinking age is in the UK, but as an American I didn’t find it excessive, just realistic. This is a very sweet summer story that will make you smile and want to fall in love for the first time again!💜

*** Big thank you to Bookouture & Bookouture Audio for my gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own. ***

About the Book

We all remember that one magical summer that changed our lives.

For Joe, it’s 1999. School is over, and with zero idea of what he’s meant to do for the rest of his life, he’s reluctantly accepted a job at the local summer camp. Anything to drown out the sharp grief of missing his dad and move on from what school calls his ‘anger problems’. But getting screamed at by hyperactive ten-year-olds is almost enough to make him quit on day one.

Almost.

Then he sees Amy Ashworth for the very first time, her black hair shining in the sun – and learns that nothing hits harder than first love.

She’s the only person he knows who reads for fun, or who’s seen Titanic fourteen times. But there’s another side to Amy. Soon, she’s the only person he’s ever been to a wild house party with, or kissed under the twinkling stars. It’s the happiest Joe has ever been… until the terrible day when what’s left of his family fractures into a million pieces.

Caught up in Amy’s whirlwind, Joe can’t bring himself to tell the truth about his life. Would his dad have wanted him to fight for the girl he loves, or protect his family, no matter what?

Only one thing is certain: this is the summer Joe will grow up. But when he looks back decades later, will he be ashamed of his choices? And will Amy still be by his side?

Heart-warming, hilarious, nostalgic, and bittersweet, Truly, Madly, Amy explores first loves, last chances, and the summers that shape us. Perfect for fans of David Nicholls, Mike Gayle, and anyone who remembers the carefree days of being just sixteen, when the world was full of possibility.

Happy Tuesday Readers!

Happy PubDay to this fabulous story!🪡

The Edge of Summer cover

My Thoughts

5 BIG BEAUTIFUL BUTTON FILLED STARS!🪡

5 reasons you should read this book.

1️⃣ Viola Shipman is a brilliant storyteller.

2️⃣ this is a beautiful yet heartbreaking story about the love of a mother, and a daughter beginning to understand.

3️⃣ Sutton is a likable relatable character. Her growth throughout the story was wonderful to see.

4️⃣ buttons! You will never learn so much about buttons and you will never have realized that you wanted to know all there is to know. I will honestly never look at a button the same way again.

5️⃣ The setting of Lake Michigan scream summer and the romance is slow and sweet.

2 reasons you should listen to this book.

🎧 Nancy Peterson did an amazing job bringing Viola Shipman‘s storytelling to life.

🎧 Nancy also set the perfect tone and pacing for this beautiful story.

It never fails to amaze me that Viola Shipman is a pen name for a male author. He really has such a firm grasp on the female psyche. I also really appreciated how the subject of Covid and the pandemic was handled and addressed in this book. I completely empathize with Sutton as she tries to navigate her “new normal“. The role that buttons played in the story was so unique, well done and interesting. This book seriously made me want to start sewing, something that has never happened before. Tug The love interest in the story is fabulous, you’ve got to love a man that loves baseball and fabric. Another beautiful story from this exceptional author set against the backdrop of Lake Michigan. A definite can’t miss summer read.

About the Book

Bestselling author Viola Shipman delights with this captivating summertime escape set along the sparkling shores of Lake Michigan, where a woman searches for clues to her secretive mother’s past

Devastated by the sudden death of her mother—a quiet, loving and intensely private Southern seamstress called Miss Mabel, who overflowed with pearls of Ozarks wisdom but never spoke of her own family—Sutton Douglas makes the impulsive decision to pack up and head north to the Michigan resort town where she believes she’ll find answers to the lifelong questions she’s had about not only her mother’s past but also her own place in the world.

Recalling Miss Mabel’s sewing notions that were her childhood toys, Sutton buys a collection of buttons at an estate sale from Bonnie Lyons, the imposing matriarch of the lakeside community. Propelled by a handful of trinkets left behind by her mother and glimpses into the history of the magical lakeshore town, Sutton becomes tantalized by the possibility that Bonnie is the grandmother she never knew. But is she? As Sutton cautiously befriends Bonnie and is taken into her confidence, she begins to uncover the secrets about her family that Miss Mabel so carefully hid, and about the role that Sutton herself unwittingly played in it all.

The Christmas Caroline by Camilla Isley **Book Review**

Happy Wednesday evening friends!

Hope you had an awesome day! So excited that it is now officially Christmas reading season! Loved the charm and the whimsy in this lovely festive story!🎄

A Christmas Caroline

A modern-day retelling of A Christmas Carol…

Caroline is a cynic career woman living the high life in Manhattan where love and relationships are but a distant memory of the past.

But after a freak accident on Christmas Eve, Caroline receives a visit from a cheeky spirit of Christmas Past, Present, Yet to Come, and—most importantly—Christmas That Could Have Been. When she wakes up on Christmas Day suddenly married with three kids and living two doors down from her parents in New Jersey, Caroline has a chance to experience the life she would’ve had if she’d made a different choice.

Will small-town life as a mother and a wife make her rediscover what’s really important in life?

My Thoughts

A fun festive modern retelling of A Christmas Carol. Caroline is a workaholic more focused on finances then festivities. After a spill on the ice while dipping early from her families Christmas Eve. Caroline finds herself not only facing Christmas past, present, and future, but also Christmases that could have been. Caroline now finds herself married to the one that got away, living in suburbia and the mother of three. So much fun! Loved watching Caroline navigate motherhood. I can’t even imagine waking up and finding yourself with three kids one of them being an infant. I thought this was such a fabulous twist on a classic. I loved watching Caroline grow throughout the book. We all have those choices in our lives that we wonder about. How would things have gone had I made a different choice? Another festive fantastic story from Camilla Isley.

Twelve Days to Save Christmas by Elizabeth Neep **Book Review**

Happy Thursday all!

Hope life has been treating you well! Cannot believe it is so close to Christmas! This was such a sweet story 10/10 recommend! 🎄

My Thoughts

This was such a fun festive read! Poppies boyfriend of five years George dumps her right before Christmas. Poppy is devastated, who is she without George? Determined to show George that she is still the upbeat independent girl he fell in love with Poppy makes a 12 day plan to get him back. Loved Poppy she was so sparkly and authentic. Quite honestly I think George did Poppy a huge favor by breaking up with her. He and his friends seem so superficial compared to poppies authenticity. The break up gave Poppy an opportunity to really find herself. She joined a choir, volunteered at the community center, and maybe met a man more suited to her. This book would make a perfect hallmark Christmas movie, it gave me all the festive feels. Another amazing story by Elizabeth Neep.

About the Book

On the first day of Christmas, my true love… dumped me.

Poppy loves Christmas and always goes all out to make this magical time of the year extra special for her boyfriend George. But George is strangely not in the Yuletide spirit this year. As Poppy wrestles him into her Christmas jumper built for two for a holiday snapshot, she finds out why.

He’s leaving her. With only twelve days to spend together until Christmas.

Poppy is heartbroken. George is the love of her life, and what would Christmas be without kisses under the mistletoe, his mum’s delicious homemade gingerbread or their super-competitive games of Pictionary?

She’s determined to win George back. So, anxious to prove to him she can be spontaneous, she signs up as a Christmas volunteer at the local community centre. What she doesn’t know is that there’s a festive surprise coming her way…

As Poppy throws herself into her new role – mulling vats of hot cider and hanging fairy lights off everything within reach – she discovers an inner strength she never knew she had. And there’s also Theo. Her new boss. Grumpy and opinionated, he’s everything she doesn’t want.

But as the snow starts to fall, she begins to notice other things about him – like his twinkling green eyes, how he makes her laugh, and how much he cares about the people he’s trying to help.

As the twelfth day approaches, Poppy might be about to discover that the most perfect Christmas might be the one that she didn’t plan at all…

Fans of One Day in December, Beth O’Leary and Mhairi McFarlane will be completely enchanted by this witty and warm festive story about friendship, love and finding yourself.
