Naughty or Nice by Rachael Stewart @rararesources #bookreview

Happy Sunday all!

Had a nice long weekend, but I am ready to get back to my regular schedule! This is another fun festive red with a little more steam than some others!đŸ”„

Naughty Or Nice

She’s setting the terms

In business and pleasure!

Lucas Waring was my brother’s best friend—before he broke my heart and betrayed my family. Yet one glance from those dark, intense eyes, and that bolt of aching need returns. Now Lucas wants my business. But the nice Eva he knew is gone forever and naughty Eva wants her cake, and a taste of deliciously hot Lucas, too. Only my heart’s about to pull the biggest betrayal of all

My Thoughts

H. O. T. HOT! Pardon me while I fan myself off! What a scorching hot read! Fabulous characters, Sizzlin chemistry, and a fantastic storyline! This is not your grandma‘s holiday read. The book starts off with 18-year-old Eva confessing her love to Lucas. Lucas is not only her brothers best friend but also the boy her family took in. Then we jump forward and now Eva is a successful kickass businesswoman, strong, sexy, and secure. Lucas has once again entered her world, and she is determined to not go there. BUT can she resist?

told entirely in first person and primarily from Ava‘s point of view, this book really gets you inside Eva‘s head. Eva was such an amazing character, a girl we’d all love to be BFFs with! And Lucas *swoon* he puts the ho ho ho in hot! I don’t think anyone can blame Eva for struggling to resist. I really love these characters on their own, but together they were magical. So much chemistry, so many sparks, so much delightful banter! If you like some sizzle and Snark in your romance this one’s for you!

Smoke in Her Eyes by Anna Belfrage @tlcbooktours #bookreview

Happy Friday afternoon all!

Excited to share with you today my review for this sweet and steamy book. đŸ”„

My Thoughts

Imagine that someone has been searching for you for their past 50 lives? This is the second book in this steamy series, the book can definitely be read as a standalone, but will be better appreciated if you have read the first book. This is the story of Helle, Jason, and Sam Wolf three people whose lives have previously collided. This is however not a love triangle, one of these men is seeking love and the other is seeking to destroy it. The most frequent complaint I hear from people about romance is they’re too predictable, this story was not! It was unique, Creative, and clever. Reincarnation does play a part in the story, but if that’s not your jam I think the book will still work. The characters were so vividly and boldly drawn. The chemistry between Helle and Jason was off the charts HOT! If you are not someone who likes steam and sizzle with their romance, this is probably not the book for you, The door is pretty wide-open in this one! A well told romance when you’re in the mood for something a little different. Guaranteed to make you smile and swoon!

About the Book

Six months ago, Helle Madsen would have described herself as normal. Now she no longer knows if that terms applies, not after her entire life has been turned upside down by the reappearance of not one, but two, men from her very, very distant past.

Helle Madsen never believed in mumbo-jumbo stuff like reincarnation—until she came face to face with Jason Morris, a man who purportedly had spent fifty lives looking for her. Coping with being reunited with the lover from her ancient past was one thing. Having Sam Woolf, her vindictive nemesis from that same ancient past join the party was a bit too much. Suddenly, Helle finds herself the reluctant heroine of a far-flung, time-transcending epic story, one in which pain and loss seem to play a very big part.

This time round, Jason and Helle are determined to make it to the happily ever after. Unfortunately, Sam Woolf will stop at nothing to crush them. That ride into the golden sunset seems awfully far away at times

Getting Hot With the Scot by Melonie Johnson @MelonieJohnson @SMPRomance @stmartinspress #bookreview #gettinghotwiththescot

Happy Wednesday all!

Excited to share with you today my review for this book that I absolutely adored! A huge thank you to Natalie for my invitation to this tour!đŸ”„

ABOUT THE BOOK:

The first in a new series, a journalist focused on her career and a sexy Scottish comedian turn a one night stand into forever.

Cassie Crow leaves for vacation with two goals: fill up her empty charm bracelet and have a one night stand. For once, she wants to have fun instead of obsessively checking her work email. And kissing a man in a castle who’s dressed as a Scottish Highlander is the perfect solution.

Except when that man turns out to be Logan Reid, the host of a popular sketch show—and Cassie has just been roped into his latest prank. She wants nothing to do with his antics, but that was a really great kiss, and one night together couldn’t hurt.

It’s clear that one night isn’t enough and when Logan’s show brings him closer to Cassie, they decide to give dating a try. Can the woman who’s focused solely on her career and the man who refuses to take life seriously make it work?

My Thoughts witty. Steamy. Sweet.

This book made me want to drop everything, pack my bags, and head to Scotland, to find me a man in a kilt. Seriously Logan f*cking Reid would probably make any girl rethink the whole kilt thing. Although apparently Cassie and her friends had a thing for kilts. Melonie Johnson has written an engaging story packed with an abundance of humor, steam, and love. This book had everything I love in a romcom; a likable female protagonist, a strong female friend group, and of course a hot guy with a heart of gold and a killer sense of humor.

Cassie and her besties are on a dream vacation in Europe. They are spending their last few days in the UK and Cassie has yet to fulfill her desire for a foreign fling. SO when she runs across Logan in a kilt, in a castle, she is willing to overlook certain things and throw caution (along with other things) to the wind. What transpires is a romance full of push and pull, and will they won’t they? Will Cassie and Logan be able to let their guards down and allow love into their lives?

This book was just so much fun! I loved Cassie and her friends, this was a group of girls I would love to hang out with. I also loved Logan‘s friend Theo, and I cannot wait for his story. Logan was a great guy a little selfish, but he came around. The chemistry between Cassie and Logan was pretty darn sizzling. Something I really appreciated about this book was the drama was pretty realistic, not too over-the-top, The perfect amount of angst. I really love romances with more humor than angst, I like to laugh more than cry.

Simply put this was an engaging story that left me wanting more! Cannot wait for Bonnie and Theo‘s book!

Making Up by Helena Hunting @HelenaHunting @smpromance @stmartinspress #coverreveal #makingup

coming July 16, 2019!!!

A new standalone, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy by New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting.

Cosy Felton is great at her job—she knows just how to handle the awkwardness that comes with working at an adult toy store. So when the hottest guy she’s ever seen walks into the shop looking completely overwhelmed, she’s more than happy to turn on the charm and help him purchase all of the items on his list.

Griffin Mills is using his business trip in Las Vegas as a chance to escape the broken pieces of his life in New York City. The last thing he wants is to be put in charge of buying gag gifts for his friend’s bachelor party. Despite being totally out of his element, and mortified by the whole experience, Griffin is pleasantly surprised when he finds himself attracted to the sales girl that helped him.

As skeptical as Cosy may be of Griffin’s motivations, there’s something about him that intrigues her. But sometimes what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas and when real life gets in the way, all bets are off. Filled with hilariously awkward situations and enough sexual chemistry to power Sin City, Making Up is the next standalone in the Shacking Up world.

Say You’re Sorry by Karen Rose @KarenRoseBooks @BerkleyPub #bookbestiessayyouresorry #bookreview #sayyouresorry #pubday

Happy Tuesday book lovers!

Excited to share with you today my review for this perfectly balanced romantic suspense story. This is the perfect story for fans of romance, suspense, and/or romantic suspense! It was also a group breed with my Besties and we all really enjoyed this one!💕💕

Say You’re Sorry by Karen Rose

My Thoughts

A Smart, suspenseful, and sexy romantic suspense story!

Karen Rose is definitely the queen of romantic suspense… I felt this book was the perfect balance of both romance and suspense… The romance was sizzling and swoon worthy while the suspense was dark and nail biting…. Karen Rose doesn’t pull any punches, both the romance and suspense in this book are gritty, graphic, and raw… this is not for the faint of heart, so if you don’t like all the intimate details, this one might not be for you….

This book is over 600 pages, but it certainly did not seem that way… I flew through those pages and never did I think when does this end? In fact I wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye to these characters yet…. Daisy was a fabulous protagonist and Gideon wasn’t too bad either😉 The chemistry between these two was off the charts…. hotđŸ”„ and what I really appreciated is they not only connected on a physical level but also on an emotional and intellectual level, bravo to that! Also the fact that these two found time for romance and sizzle was quite impressive with all that was going on… A crazy creepy serial killer, A connection to a cult that’s part of Gideon’s past, well that’s it, but there is a lot to both of those! Two seemingly separate stories that thread together perfectly!

We got many different perspectives in this book including that of the demented killer… and can I just say this guy was creepy squared! But I love that… I love getting into the mind of crazy and this guy definitely fit that bill…. along with Daisy and Gideon we had a cast of very well drawn secondary characters… my hope is the next book is about Gideon’s sister….

A well-crafted story that will make you sweat, swoon, and squirm! An intense fast pace story bursting with romance and suspense! Recommend!

He escaped the violence of his cult upbringing when he was just thirteen, and since then routine and discipline have been his way of making sense of the world. But when a petite blonde woman crashes into his life, he begins to realize that a little bit of chaos might not be so bad.

Excerpt

: This is an unedited excerpt and is subject to change.

I’m startled out of my thoughts when my brother jumps up and shouts a bunch of profane nonsense, hands flailing like he’s trying to swim on land, or approximate the chicken dance while on an LSD trip.

“You can’t do this! It’s absolute bullshit!” Armstrong yells.

I look around the table, trying to piece together what I missed.

“I’m sorry, Armstrong. I know this is a shock, but we feel it’s in the company’s best interest to put Lincoln at the helm during this transitional stage,” G-mom says firmly.

At the helm? I look to G-mom who’s busy not looking at me.

Armstrong jabs at finger at himself. “But I’m the one who’s put in all the time here! I deserve to run the company! Lincoln doesn’t know the first thing about Moorehead. All he knows how to do is dig wells and forage for food in the wilderness. How are those valuable assets here?” He turns his attention to our mother. “Did you know about this? How can you let this happen? Look at him. How can that be the face of our company? He looks like he crawled out of a gutter and mugged a twenty-year-old college kid on a bender. How is this better for our bottom line?”

My mother clasps her hands in front of her. “I’m sorry, Armstrong, but this decision wasn’t mine to make. I know this is hard for you, but your grandmother and fath—”

Armstrong stomps his foot, exactly as a toddler would. “The company is mine! Lincoln can’t have it!”

I raise a hand, half to quiet my brother and also to find out what the freaking deal is. “Whoa, let’s back this bus up. Can someone explain what’s going on?”

“You’ve been appointed as the CEO of Moorehead Media, according to the will,” Christophe—no R, because that would make it far too pedestrian a name—my father’s lawyer says.

I’m working on trying to remain calm as I address my grandmother. “You didn’t say anything about me being CEO. You said you needed my help.”

“Running the company, yes,” she says through a practiced, stiff smile.

It’s her warning face, but seriously, when she said she needed my help for a few months I figured it meant I’d be keeping Armstrong in line while she sorted out who was going to take over the company, which I realize now was a stupid assumption.

“I didn’t think that meant CEO. How am I going to run a company with this dickhead on staff?” I motion to my brother.

“The name calling is unnecessary,” G-mom replies.

“Lincoln’s not even part of this family! He hasn’t attended one event in the past five years except for Dad’s funeral. He didn’t bother coming to my wedding and now he’s going to run the company? How is that fair?”

I snort. “Your wedding was an expensive joke.”

He crosses his arms over his chest. “I was set up. Amalie had cold feet and made me out to look like the bad guy.”

The woman beside him shoots him disgusted look.

Armstrong clears his throat and tugs at his collar. “My wedding is not the real issue. The point is that you’ve never involved yourself in any part of this family and now you think you can come in and take over. I will not stand by and let this happen!” He keeps jabbing his finger at me, as if he’s engaged in a finger sword fight.

I lean back in my chair and lace my fingers behind my neck. Armstrong has always been reactive. And self-absorbed. For a while it seemed like he finally had it together—back when he was engaged. But ever since that fiasco of a wedding he seems to have come completely unglued. Again. But worse this time. “Someone needs a timeout.”

CHAPTER 3

SCREW YOU, AWESOME KISSER

RUBY

I eat an entire Listerine PocketPak on the subway ride home to kill any lingering germs in my mouth from Awesome Kisser. I’m annoyed by the whole thing, but at least he apologized and seemed sincere about the acci- dental tongue invasion. Too bad the hotness of the mem- ory is marred by raging Brittany and the hack in the face.

After getting home, I rinse with mouthwash, down six vitamin C capsules and some anti-flu holistic stuff, and then I go ahead and make myself my customary before- bed, pre-audition nighttime drink of hot honey-lemon water, and pray I’ve done a good enough job of ridding myself of cough germs.

I climb into bed, note my sheets lack a fresh scent, question when I last washed them, then I set my alarm and close my eyes. Behind my lids appears the hottie— whose name is apparently Banny, or maybe I misheard and it’s Danny. It’s not really a hot guy name. I’m going to stick with Awesome Kisser.

Now that I’m past the shock-and-awe factor I can fully

26 H EL EN A HUN T IN G

appreciate that man’s hotness in the shouty caps sense of the word. It’s unfortunate he dates vapid, self-absorbed model-y types and not starving artists. I have a feeling “date” isn’t the appropriate word anyway. It’s also unfor- tunate that he has poor coughing manners.

I consider that he was likely a guest at the engagement party and he very well may be a guest at the wedding as well. If I’m still dateless by then he could make an ex- cellent potential dance partner, depending of course on how tight he is with Armstrong. If they’re close friends I don’t think it’s advisable to get involved in any semi- unclothed dancing outside of the wedding celebrations, no matter how hot he is. I don’t want to run the risk of encountering him again should things not go as well as one hopes.

Eventually I stop fantasizing about what’s under his suit and pass out.

I’m about to find out exactly what’s in Awesome Kiss- er’s designer pants when a repetitive, annoying sound dis- tracts me. I pause just before I smooth a hand over the amazingly prominent bulge while he tilts my head back, his soft lips brushing mine, his hot tongue sweeping . . .

The wisps of the dream fade and I crack a lid. The fantasy breaks with the obnoxious sunlight screaming its wake-up call, along with my stupid phone. Sometimes I’m slutty in my dreams.

I reach for the phone, remembering that Amie prom- ised me a morning call, just in case I messed up my alarm, which has happened in the past. I was on the ball last night, though. I set three alarms, all within five min- utes of each other so I wouldn’t have an opportunity to fall back asleep.

“Rise and shine, Ruby! I’m your wake-up call!” How

SH ACK I N G U P 27

she manages to sound so damn chipper at seven-thirty in the morning after her engagement party is beyond me.

A seal-like bark comes out when I attempt to grum- ble hello and tell her off for interrupting my dream.

“Ruby? Are you there?”

I make a second attempt at speaking but all I manage is another bark.

“Do you have a bad connection? I told you not to go with the cheap provider. You know how terrible the re- ception is.”

I clear my throat and immediately regret it, as it feels like knives are traveling up my esophagus.

“Ruby?” Amie asks again and then sighs. “I’m hang- ing up and trying again.”

Once the line goes dead I immediately hit the video call. Amie picks up right away. She’s wearing a white robe with her wavy hair pulled up into a ponytail, look- ing as fresh as baked bread out of the oven. I on the other hand, look like yesterday’s garbage based on the small image in the corner of my phone.

“Oh my God. Are you okay?”

I motion to my throat and shake my head. I give speak- ing another shot, just in case my inability to make more than random, audible sounds is a result of waking up. I usually don’t have to use words until after my morning coffee. All I get is another one of those squeaky moans and more sharp pain in my throat.

Amie sucks in a gasp and slaps her hand over her mouth. “You have no voice!”

I nod.

“How are you going to audition?”

The final dregs of sleep slip away. I mouth oh God. A mime is the only part I can audition for with no voice, or one of the dancer roles with no lines. They don’t make

28 H EL EN A HUN T IN G

nearly as much money as central, or even secondary character, roles—which is what I’m hoping to score. The pay scale for that is far higher than for a lineless role. It definitely won’t cover the basics, like rent and food, let alone the minimum payments on my credit card. I’ve been banking on this audition to get me out of the hole I’ve dug for myself over the past few weeks.

The phone conversation is pointless since Amie can’t read lips and I can’t respond. She tells me she’s coming over. I try to tell her not to bother, but again, with the lack of words it’s impossible to convey. I wait until she hangs up and text her to tell her it’s not necessary. Besides, this thing I have is clearly contagious since I must’ve gotten it from Awesome Kisser, and I don’t want to pass it on to her. Damn Awesome Kisser—ruining the already ques- tionable state of my life.

I roll out of bed, the full-body ache hitting me with the movement. I must be dying. And I’m not just being dramatic. Every cell in my body hurts. I drag myself to the kitchen and fill the kettle. Maybe a lemon-honey hot water toddy will help restore my voice. Based on my re- cent unlucky streak, I have my doubts.

I shuffle to the bathroom, turn on the shower, and root around in the medicine cabinet for some decent drugs. All I have is regular-strength Tylenol, so it’ll have to do. I climb into the shower without checking the temperature first—it takes forever to heat up and then fluctuates be- tween lukewarm and scalding. I step under the spray during a scalding phase and huddle in the corner until it’s bearable.

I’d like to say the shower helps me feel better. It does not. The warm water also does little to help my voice. Although I’m past just squeaking to barely audible one- word phrases, such as “ow.” I’m praying to the voice-

SH ACK I N G U P 29

miracle gods that the honey-lemon combo will further improve my ability to speak.

Once out of the shower I doctor up my water, adding extra lemon and honey. Not only do I burn the crap out of my tongue, it feels like serrated blades coated in acid sliding down my throat. Still, I get dressed in basic black tights and a black tank with a loose, gauzy gray shirt over top. I dry my hair and put on makeup in hopes that ap- pearing put together will make it so. I have to double up on powder when the effort to prepare my face causes me to sweat.

I take a second hot lemon-honey toddy with me on the subway and arrive for my audition half an hour early. Not that my promptness matters. I’m still unable to speak above a whisper. My despair balloons like a marshmal- low in the microwave at the mass of people performing voice warm-up exercises around me.

I make an attempt to do the same, but the hoarse, croaklike sound is drowned out by the crystal clear voice of the perfectly gorgeous woman standing next to me. As I listen to the sound of a thousand soaring angels spew out of her mouth, I shiver with what I fear is the begin- ning of a fever. Sweat breaks out across the back of my neck and travels down my spine, along with a violent shiver. As if today could be any worse than it already is, my stomach does this weird, knotting thing.

“Ruby Scott.”

I glance at the director, who’s thankfully still looking fresh, and not beaten down by hundreds of craptastic au- ditions. Those are yet to come. I shoulder my bag and follow him to the theater.

“You’re auditioning for the role of Emma today, cor- rect?” He doesn’t give me a chance to confirm. “I’d like you to start with the song at the beginning of act two.”

30 H EL EN A HUN T IN G

“Okay,” I croak feebly, cringing at the raspy sound. At least I can speak, even if I sound like a prepubescent boy with his nuts caught in his zipper.

The director looks up from his clipboard, his frown an omen.

“I seem to have lost my voice.” He has to strain to hear me.

He heaves a frustrated sigh. “You can’t audition if you don’t have a voice.”

“I didn’t want to miss it. Maybe I could audition for a dancer part?” Fewer words are better.

He purses his lips. “Auditions for dancer roles aren’t until later in the week.”

“I understand, but I’m here and if you can’t hear me sing, at least you could see me dance?” I fight the gag reflex as another wave of nausea hits me.

He sighs and relents, gesturing to the stage. I thank him, then drop my bag at the edge of the stage and get into first position. My brain is foggy and my body aches horribly, but I can’t pass up this opportunity for a mod- est, yet steady income for a few months. I can’t afford to rack up additional credit card debt, and I don’t want to ask my father for more money, because that will make him aware of how much of a struggle this is. Then he’ll make his case for me to come work for him, as is his mas- ter plan. I know I can do this.

The music cues up, and as I start to move my stom- ach does that rolling-heave thing again. There isn’t any food in it, but all of a sudden the honey-lemon water I consumed this morning decides to stage a revolt. I’m in the middle of a spin—not the best idea when nauseous— and the next wave hits me; violent and unrelenting.

And thus ends my audition.

For the price of a Subway sandwich you could read this book, it is quite fabulous! Berit☀✚

Synopsis

Faking it never felt so good in this red-hot new standalone by New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg — available in audio first!

Zane Phillips mistook me for his dog walker. It shouldn’t surprise me that the man with a suit more expensive than my rent would assume that I was there to serve him. The positive? I put him in his place. The negative? I missed my job interview because of it.

Now I find out he’s a rich Australian entrepreneur, and he wants to make up for tanking my interview. Yes, he’s impossibly hot — but he’s also an arrogant jackass — so… no thanks.

But after a little white lie I tell spirals out of control, I’m somehow offered the chance to play Zane’s girlfriend to help promote his new dating website — and the best part? He can’t say no because he’ll get caught in his lie too.

Little did I know this would entail sharing a tour bus with him for the next few months. The fact that the bus has just one bed isn’t the most ideal of circumstances, but this spokesperson gig might be the kick in the pants my career needs, so why not take a chance?

Famous last words.

Now I’m crisscrossing the country — and sharing that bed — with the one guy I can’t stand. And even worse, my traitorous body is wondering at every turn what it’s like to be down under the gorgeous Australian. But as the miles unfurl, so does our passion
and if I’m not careful, I might end up believing that fairytales really do come true.

My Thoughts

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5 Faking It stars

Oh my goodness, if I couldn’t love Erin Mallon any more, she goes and narrates this book, i don’t think my Girl Crush can take much more!

I think this has to be one of my favourite K Bromberg books to date, the story, the characters…everything!!

Harlow is off to a job interview, of course being nervous she writes the address etc onto a piece of paper, which is then smudged, no problem…but is it office 303 or 308??

After knocking on the door and mentally preparing herself, she has a quick barrage of abuse from the man opening it, about her her being late, and a dog lead shoved into her hand, oh and a door slammed in her face, the dog runs off down the corridor and her heel brakes on her shoe.

And that ladies and gentleman is all i am going to tell you about this book…well apart from the MC Zane is Australian, and Erin Mallon’s Australian accent made me swoon…..a lot!!

This story is to do with a Badass woman, a Douchebag of a man, a “Relationship” a Dog and a Website.

🎧🎧 Narration – This is what made the book for me, We have new to me narrator Rupert Channing, who i will certainly be looking for again, and my #GirlVoiceCrush Erin Mallon.

Her Australian accent was enough to make me swoon…a lot!

Drop what you are doing and grab yourself a copy of this brilliant story!

Happy Listening

Happy Tuesday y’all!

Today is publication day for this delightful novella in the Stage Dive series💕

I have already read it and loved it! and my full review will be up on the day of my tour stop October 5!

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kylie Scott comes a new story in her Stage Dive series

When the girl of your dreams is kind of a nightmare.

As head of security to Stage Dive, one of the biggest rock bands in the world, Sam Knowles has plenty of experience dealing with trouble. But spoilt brat Martha Nicholson just might be the worst thing he’s ever encountered. The beautiful troublemaker claims to have reformed, but Sam knows better than to think with what’s in his pants. Unfortunately, it’s not so easy to make his heart fall into line.

Martha’s had her sights on the seriously built bodyguard for years. Quiet and conservative, he’s not even remotely her type. So why the hell can’t she get him out of her mind? There’s more to her than the Louboutin wearing party-girl of previous years, however. Maybe it’s time to let him in on that fact and deal with this thing between them.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

“Ooh, busted,” said Lizzy. “The bodyguard caught you looking.”

“Shut it.” I inched my chin up a bit, trying not to frown because frowning gave you lines. “Sam and I have known each other for years and nothing has ever happened. You’re completely wrong about this.”

“Am I?”

“Yes, there’s nothing between us.”

“So that’s why you were staring at him?”

I chose not to answer that. “And you know he prefers to be called executive protection officer instead of bodyguard.”

At this, Lizzy burst out giggling, a malicious glee in her eyes. No wonder I liked my sister-in-law these days.

Ben shot us both an irritated glance. We both ignored it.

Of course, I’d known Sam would probably be here. Rock stars going out in public could be a delicate thing. People had a tendency to get overexcited. And while one person wanting an autograph wasn’t a problem, twenty or thirty of them suddenly swarming definitely could be. Having once been part of the entourage, I’d seen it happen to Ben and his fellow Stage Dive band members enough times to be wary. And you couldn’t get by with ordinary security. Rock stars needed protection from their over-zealous fans, but on the other hand they didn’t want the fans roughed up or hurt in any way. It required a delicate balance: control, experience, and a whole gamut of scary physical skills. Hence Sam.

Still, Portland seemed generally less crazy than the good old days back in LA. All of the guys seemed calmer and more settled away from the constant craziness of the party scene. Not to mention the effect of all of the wives/partners and various offspring. The biggest rock band in the world had officially been domesticated.

It was kind of cute. Or sad. I don’t know.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to stir you,” she lied. “What do you think of your brother’s new musical bromance?”

On the small stage set up in the corner of the room, a young man wailed his heart out while playing an acoustic guitar. Much angst about a girl who only called him after midnight. Trust a rockster to turn a simple booty call into a heartbreaking ballad. The song was damn good though. He had talent. If only I hadn’t had my fill of the type when I was younger. The kid looked to be in his early to mid-twenties. Lanky with lots of tattoos. Your typical rock ’n roll Prince Charming. Gag. These days my type ran more toward
actually, what I needed or wanted in a male was a total mystery.

And my gaze did not stray back to Sam. That did not happen.

and her heart.

Just when Catherine is ready to fully trust Elliott, he becomes the prime suspect in a local tragedy. Despite the town’s growing suspicions, Catherine clings to her love for Elliott. But a devastating secret that Catherine has buried could destroy whatever chance of happiness they have left.

Review

Well i certainly didn’t see that one coming in this one!

All the Little Lights is a YA book with a cracking little twist in it, the book is based around Catherine and Elliot.

Friends since they were young children, Catherine and Elliot spent every minute they could together, walking and talking, and Elliot taking pictures with his camera that he seems to be surgically attached to.

They were very sweet together, and they made plans to travel the world together when they grow up…..except that doesn’t happen, Elliot’s mother hates the town, and the people in it, she grew up there and was bullied because of her heritage, her family are Cherokee and she was not made welcome in the town.

She doesn’t want this happening to her son (even though he’s quite popular) so she literally drags Elliot to the car one day and takes him away, the thing is that she doesn’t give him a chance to say goodbye, and on this particular day Catherine really needs him.

With no access to phones and his father taking away his car, Elliot has no way of getting in touch with Catherine to apologise, and it stays this way for 2 years!

In the meantime Catherine is helping her Mother keep their guesthouse in shape by working herself to near exhaustion with the cleaning / cooking etc, as well as keeping up with her schoolwork.

The guests are very “in-your-face” and won’t hardly leave her alone, and some of them downright scare her.

Catherine has never forgiven Elliot for leaving her, so when he shows up out-of- the-blue asking for forgiveness she has to make a decision on whether she wants to spend time with him, or help out at the guesthouse where her mother is slipping into a more depressed state.

In the middle of this story pops up another one, a girl in Catherine’s class goes missing, and the finger seems to be pointing in Elliot’s direction…….

With a twist that i actually didn’t see coming for a change, i thoroughly enjoyed this book.

The reason why i didn’t 5 star it, is because it was very lengthy, there was a lot of mundane information that i feel could have been skipped that wouldn’t have impacted the story at all, and still kept me interested.

🎧🎧 Narrated by 2 new narrators for me Karissa Vacker and Darrell Dennis, both did a great job but i think Karrissa may have stolen the show on this one, she was excellent.

Happy listening
