The Mix Up by Elizabeth Neep **Book Review** @bookouture

Happy long weekend!

Excited to share today my review for this fun book! This is a very appropriate title for the story there are plenty of mix ups and a lot of laughs!

My Thoughts

This book was so fun! Marley is a down on her luck actress with plenty of time on her hands. So when her Bestie Anna asks if she can check out a the venue for her she thinks “why not”? When Marley gets there she’s feeling a little inadequate so she decides to take on the persona of BFF Anna. Of course this backfires. Not only does she meet The man of her dreams Cameron but she also is given the opportunity of the acting role of her life but everyone thinks she is Anna, and engaged. Marley was a likable character even though she was frustrating at times. I mean the girl got her self into a serious mess. Her roommate Xavier and screen writer Reese were definitely my favorite secondary characters. BFF Anna was a bit of a bridezilla and we didn’t get to know Cameron love interest as much as I would have liked. A fun uplifting story filled with loads of wit and charm!

*** Big thank you to Bookouture for my gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own. ***

About the Book

What if you meet the love of your life, but he thinks you’re someone else?

Anna and Marley are best friends. So when Anna rings Marley, panicking because she has to miss a tour of an exclusive wedding venue, Marley agrees to go in her friend’s place.

After being totally ignored by the glamorous receptionist who can tell she doesn’t belong there, Marley meets handsome hotel manager Cameron. He assumes she’s Anna and instead of admitting that she’s not the blushing bride, but the unlucky-in-love single friend, Marley plays along to see what it’s like to be Anna for a day.

After all, Marley is unemployed, single and was woken up that morning by her flatmate playing the bagpipes. Anna has a high-flying career and is planning the perfect wedding. Why wouldn’t Marley want to be her?

Only she wasn’t counting on Cameron being so smart and funny. Or this spark between them that she can’t ignore. She hasn’t felt this way about a guy in forever. But he thinks she’s somebody better.

Marley needs a way out of this mix-up to get her shot at true love. But her fictional fiancé is now standing in her way and it’s harder than she thought to stop living someone else’s life…

A funny, uplifting and poignant story of friendship, love and finding your way. Fans of Dolly Alderton, Mhairi McFarlane and Holly Bourne will adore Elizabeth Neep’s wit and warmth.

Things AreLooking Up by Maxine Morey **Book Review**

Happy almost long weekend!

Excited to share with you today my review of this super fun book! 🚍

Things Are Looking Up

What if what you really need is right there in front of you, if you just take a moment to look up?

Milly has been waiting for this moment forever and finally it’s just an hour away – an interview with Vogue magazine and the opportunity to get her Louboutin-clad foot in the door.  There’s just one problem – totally engrossed in her mobile phone, Milly doesn’t see the bus that is fast approaching – until it’s too late…

When Milly next opens her eyes, the consequences of her accident become clear. Everything she has worked for and dreamed of suddenly feels out of reach. But there is one bright spot on her horizon – the reappearance of her ex Jed, in all of his six-foot-four, broad-shouldered glory, with the most piercing ice blue eyes Milly ever saw.

Once used to working in a whirlwind, Milly now has the chance to reconsider how to live. Will she rush back to the treadmill, get her head down and back to business, or is there a whole other life waiting for her, if she’ll just look up to see it?

‘Read yourself happy’ with Maxine Morrey’s latest uplifting, page-turning, heart-warming romance, guaranteed to brighten up your day.

My Thoughts

This book was SO FUN! Sometimes it takes getting hit by a bus to make you take a minute to look up and appreciate things around you. In the case of this book it was a literal bus that Milly got hit by that landed her in the hospital in a coma with multiple injuries. Lucky for Milly and us she made a full recovery. She also came to realize that she had been so consumed with her career that she had pushed everything else out of her life. Her family, her friends, the love of her life. Fortunately Millies unfortunate encounter with a bus let her to start looking up from her phone and making some real connections. Milly was a great likable character who just seem to have been caught up in the rat race of a competitive fashion business. Her brother Harry and sister-in-law Ava were a great support system and I loved how there for Milly they were. And then there’s Jed, Milly‘s ex who had been the first to be called about the accident because his name was still on her emergency contact card. Jed was perhaps a little good to be true, kind, caring, smart, handsome, wealthy, and extremely supportive. I was like OK Milly if you won’t have him I will! 🙋🏻‍♀️ There was some definite Romance peppered into the story but I’d say it was more of the story of Milly rediscovering and reinventing herself.

Under the Italian Sun by Sue Moorcroft **Book Review** @rararesources

Happy Thursday!

It is starting to heat up and that means time for all the summer Reads! Loved this book at my virtual trip to Italy through its pages!

Under The Italian Sun

The #1 bestseller is back with an uplifting, escapist read that will brighten the gloomiest day!

A warm, sun-baked terrace.

The rustle of verdant green vines.

The sun slowly dipping behind the Umbrian mountains.

And the chink of wine glasses as the first cork of the evening is popped…

Welcome to Italy. A place that holds the answer to Zia-Lucia Costa Chalmers’ many questions. Not least, how she ended up with such a mouthful of a name.

When Zia discovers that her mother wasn’t who she thought she was, she realises the time has come to search out the Italian family she’s never known.

However, as she delves into the secrets of her past, she doesn’t bargain on having to think about her future too. But with local vineyard owner, Piero, living next door, Zia knows she has a serious distraction who may prove difficult to ignore…

This summer, join Zia as she sets out to uncover her past. But can she find the future she’s always dreamed of along the way?

My Thoughts

A beautiful story filled with family secrets, sizzling romance, and a gorgeous setting. Zia discovers that she is not who she always has thought she was. SO she packs her bags and heads to Italy with her best friend Ursula, to track down her father. The story took me on an emotional journey right alongside Zia. There were some light hearted whimsical moments as well as some very emotional parts. I was so grateful that Zia had her Bestie Ursula for support who was a great character. I also was thrilled to see the chemistry that developed between Zia and Piero. But boy oh boy were things complicated in this book both Ursula and Piero had some pretty major things going on in their own lives. The setting of the story was absolutely divine and so vividly described. I seriously felt like I was right there in Italy with these characters thanks to Sue Moorcroft’s descriptive storytelling. Another wonderful story from this prolific author.

A Secret Scottish Escape by Julie Shackman **Book Review** @rararesources

Happy hump day all!

I have been so busy over on Instagram with my new book promo company that I’ve kind of neglected my blog. I promise I am really going to try to get the balance back sooner than later. Thank goodness for great books and great opportunities to keep me on my toes and needing me to post on my blog!

A Secret Scottish Escape

Escape to the beautiful Scottish Highlands for a heartwarming and feel good cosy romance that will whisk you away from lockdown!

When Scotland’s sleepiest hamlet becomes the centre of hot gossip, Layla Devlin finds herself caught in a mystery…

When Layla’s fiancée has an unexpected heart attack and dies – in another woman’s arms, no less – Layla is determined to pack up and leave Loch Harris, the village she’s always called home. But an unexpected inheritance and love for her quiet corner of Scotland send her down a new path.

Now Layla finds herself facing a whole new kind of drama. Rumours swirl that a celebrity has moved into Coorie Cottage and Layla is determined to have him headline her opening night at local music venue The Conch Club. But the reclusive star is equally determined to thwart Layla’s efforts. Rafe Buchanan is in hiding for a reason, and soon his past comes to Loch Harris to haunt him…

My Thoughts

A perfect escape to Scotland filled with secrets, Romance, music, and family. Layla is blindsided when she finds out that her fiancé died in the arms of his ex-wife. Devastated and wanting a new start Layla is determined to leave town until she decides that she would love to give back to her community with the money she has inherited from her deadbeat fiancé. Layla has a great relationship with her dad who was in a band in the 70s, in fact Layla is named after the iconic Layla in the Eric Clapton song. Music plays a huge part in this book and Layla is determined to bring music to this sleepy Hamlet and figure out what’s going on with the mysterious new musician in town. The story was a bit of a genre potpourri there is some romance, some mystery, some family drama. Layla was a great character and I really wanted her to find some peace and happiness. The story had a great sense of community I just loved the setting of this small town in Scotland. A great story that gave me all the feels and left me with a smile on my face.

The Inn at Tansy Falls by Cate Woods **Book Review** @bookouture

Hello book people!

Hope you had an amazing weekend! I try to be as unplugged as possible this weekend and get some quality reading time in! So you might ask why did you not get this review up until now? Well I have loads to catch up on, but I think I’m finally there! And I have to say this book was definitely worth the wait!🌸

My Thoughts

A cozy feel good heartwarming small town tale. Mell finds her self on a plane heading to Vermont from the UK to fulfill her best friend Megan’s final wishes. Megan used to spend her summers at the small town of Tansy Falls in Vermont. Not only is Nell there to spread her friends ashes but she has a two week itinerary written by Megan that she has been “ordered“ to abide by. The itinerary leads Nell to meet many lovely colorful characters and takes her out of her comfort zone. This was such a wonderful story about Nell and her really learning to trust herself again. She was such a fabulous character just so authentic and kind. I really loved how well her friend Megan knew her and understood what she needed and what she would gain from her time in this special town. There is a tiny sprinkling of romance in the story but it really is more a tale of self discovery. A charming story that made me happy!

About the Book

Dearest Nell, if you’re reading this letter, I’m already gone. You’re my best friend in the world, and as my last request I’m asking you to lay me to rest hundreds of miles away, in my crazy gorgeous, totally one-of-a-kind hometown of Tansy Falls. I know you’re a born-and-bred city girl, but hear me out. After first losing Adrian, and then me… I know your heart is hurting, Nell. I think you’ll find that you need Tansy Falls as much as I do.

So, I’ve got it all planned out. For two weeks, you’ll be staying at the sweet, local inn and every day you’ll be trying something new. And if you follow my instructions to the letter, you may discover there’s more to my story than you think. A surprise something… or someone at the end of it? Only you can find out!

Some last advice before you set off, Nell. Don’t forget your sturdy boots and make sure to give Boomer, the inn’s resident dog, a belly rub from me. Stay well away from former quarterback Brody Knott (boy, do I have some stories about him!). And finally, let the future bring what it brings. While Tansy Falls may look small, I know better than anyone that new beginnings can be found in all kinds of places. That little Vermont town you’d never heard of? Well, it might suddenly begin to feel just like coming home…

If you love feel-good love stories by ReaAnne Thayne, Debbie Macomber and Robyn Carr, you’ll adore this gorgeous, heart-warming novel about starting over.

A Borrow-a-Bookshop Holiday by Kiley Dunbar **Book Review** @rararesources

Hello book friends!

How would you like to run a book shock for a couple weeks while on vacation?📚

A Borrow-A-Bookshop Holiday

The Borrow-A-Bookshop Holiday

The Fully Booked Bookshop Café invites literature lovers to run their very own bookshop … for a fortnight.

Spend your days talking books with customers in your own charming bookshop and serving up delicious cream teas in the cosy café.

Bookworms, what are you waiting for? Your holiday is going to be LIT(erary).

Apply to: The Fully Booked Bookshop, Down-a-long, Clove Lore, Devon.

Jude Crawley should be on top of the world. She’s just graduated as a mature student, so can finally go public about her relationship with Philosophy professor, Mack.

Until she sees Mack kissing another girl, and her dreams crumble. And worse, their dream holiday – running a tiny bookshop in the harbour village of Clove Lore for two weeks – is non-refundable.

Throwing caution to the winds, Jude heads down to Devon, eager to immerse herself in literature and heal her broken heart.

But there’s one problem – six foot tall, brooding (but gorgeous) Elliot, who’s also reserved the bookshop holiday for two weeks…

As Jude and Elliot put their differences aside to run the bookshop, it seems that Jude might be falling in love with more than just words. Until she discovers what Elliot is running from – and why he’s hiding out in Clove Lore.

Can Jude find her own happy ending in a tiny, tumbledown bookshop? Or is she about to find out that her bookish holiday might have an unexpected twist in the tale…

My Thoughts

As a book lover it would be such a lovely vacation to work in a bookshop in a quaint small town. June is looking forward to her holiday with her boyfriend Max. That is until she finds him in a compromising position and heads out on vacation on her own. When June reaches her book shop destination she finds that she is not the only one working the book shop. There appears to be a dark brooding man named Elliot that she will be sharing her holiday with. June is less than pleased until she isn’t. This book was so fun and will totally resonate with all bookworms! June and Elliot were great characters and I loved the romance that developed between them. I also absolutely adored the setting of the story. So many colorful quirky characters resided in this lovely small town. Another charming tale from this amazing author!

Life’s A Beach by Portia MacIntosh

Hello book friends!

Hope life is treating you well! Portia MacIntosh is a definite auto read author for me! I love her stories they’re filled with just so much whimsy, charm, and fabulous characters!🏖

Life’s A Beach

Life’s A Beach

Sun, sea and inescapable exes…

Peach is excited to hear that her sister, Di, is getting married. Of course, she would have preferred her little sister to be engaged to someone she’s known longer than a week – and the fact that his name is Charles doesn’t bode well – but who is she to judge?! Afterall, her own love life is non-existent, and who doesn’t love a destination wedding…?

Whisked away to the gorgeous Italian coast, Peach assumes her role as chief bridesmaid and, despite her reservations about the groom, she tries to ensure everything goes to plan.

But weddings are never straightforward affairs… throw in some unexpected guests in the form of ex-boyfriends and one night stands, and soon enough there is more drama than a reality tv show.

Can Peach keep the show on the road, or might she end up in a whirlwind romance of her own…?

Escape to the stunning Italian coast with bestseller Portia MacIntosh. Perfect for fans of Sophie Ranald and Mhairi MacFarlane.

My Thoughts

Romcom perfection! That’s it, that’s the review!

I’m kidding, but seriously that’s all you really need to know. Portia MacIntosh writes such whimsical stories filled with such fabulous characters and this might be her best yet! Peach is heading to her baby sister‘s destination wedding when she learns that the best man is someone she knows intimately. Not only that it appears as though she has accidentally invited her sister’s ex-boyfriend to the wedding. And that’s just the Half of it. Additionally little sister Di is marrying a man she’s only known for a week named Charles, nonetheless. At least the wedding is taking place in Italy at a gorgeous villa. But as the guests start arriving the entanglements get Wilder. This was just SO much fun! Peach was such a great character I adored her and I loved her job. Seriously the girl was a secret shopper and got to go visit fancy hotels and eat at five star restaurants for work. The setting of the story was Beautiful! All the characters were so dynamic and well-developed, I’d love to get to know most of them. The story had so many laugh out loud moments, i’m still laughing thinking about it. A perfect beach read that I cannot recommend highly enough!

🦔 Family Secrets at Hedgehog Hollow by Jessica Redland **Book Review** @rararesources

Happy Sunday all!🦔🦔🦔

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms in the US! This is the perfect day to grab this book hide away from the family and escape to Hedgehog Hollow!

Family Secrets at Hedgehog Hollow

Family Secrets at Hedgehog Hollow

Every family has its secrets, and at Hedgehog Hollow there is no exception…

It was always Samantha’s dream to run her beautiful rescue centre, Hedgehog Hollow, full-time. But just as her wish comes true, she becomes a victim of her own kindness when she finds herself with a house full of guests – all with their own problems and secrets – looking to her for support.

When her self-absorbed cousin, Chloe, unexpectedly turns up at the farm – swiftly handing over her baby to Samantha to care for – trouble is definitely brewing. Especially as Chloe won’t tell anyone why she’s left her husband, James…

As Samantha juggles new hedgehog arrivals, family dramas and her own health challenges, it soon becomes clear that she needs to start putting herself first for once. Little does she know that life-changing secrets from the past are about to unravel and turn their lives upside down…

Return to glorious Hedgehog Hollow with top 10 bestseller Jessica Redland for a heartwarming, emotional but uplifting story of family, friendship and moving on from the past.

My Thoughts

A lovely story filled with hope, heart, and hedgehogs! This is the third story in this wonderful heartwarming series. While it can be read as a standalone I am certain you will want to read them all! Hedgehog Farm is filled to capacity with both people and hedgehogs. The latest arrival is Chloe, Samantha‘s selfish witch of a cousin. Don’t want to give up anything from the previous books, but what Chloe did to Samantha was terrible. I’m still impressed that Samantha was able to forgive her. Anyways Chloe has recently left her husband for a reason she has not divulged to anyone. Josh‘s dad and stepmom and their two kids are in residence as well. Josh‘s dad is still looking for a bone marrow donor. The hedgehog sanctuary is running at capacity and Samantha is hosting school trips and volunteers. She also is still very affected from things that happened in the past books. Thank goodness she has such a strong character and such a great support in boyfriend/fiancé Josh.

The story bounces back-and-forth between the perspective of Samantha and Chloe. We really get to dig into Chloe‘s past and get to know her better as a character. I’m still not completely sure I like Chloe but I do understand her a lot better. Samantha is just such a warm caring person it’s hard not to be a little protective of her. We also get lots of fun informative times with the hedgehogs who are now being named after famous authors. Would’ve liked a little more time with Fizz, maybe next book? Although I’m thinking next book is going to be about a younger character? This was just such a fun feel good heartwarming story that made me smile and want a pet hedgehog.

The Single Moms’ Book Club by Victoria Cook **Book Review** @rararesources

Hello book friends!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend! This was such an amazing book the perfect way to end my weekend and kick off my week!💜

About the Book

It’s 8:30am and I’m already utterly exhausted. My son has lost his football boots, my daughter is ready for school dressed only in her vest and knickers, and of course, my 1-year-old has filled his nappy for what feels like the tenth time this morning.

As for my husband? He’s decided marriage doesn’t suit him, and well… buggered off.

All hope of ‘me time’ has but dwindled to sipping half a glass of wine whilst shouting after the kids. But everything is about to change.

I’m taking control of my life! I’ve joined… a book club.

Yes, I know what you’re thinking. ‘Wow… live a little.’ But my fellow book clubbers, Amanda and Janey, are my lifelines. They understand the daily struggle because they’re mothers too.

And in between the prosecco, Doritos and googling everything about Mr Darcy on SparkNotes, they’ve convinced me to go on a date with my boss.

A single mum of three looking for romance… what could possibly go wrong?

A gloriously funny and relatable read for anyone who just needs a little more ‘me time’. Fans of Why Mummy Drinks and Has Anyone Seen my Sex Life? will snort with laughter at this utterly hilarious and heart-warming read.

My Thoughts

SO MUCH FUN! Victoria Cook never disappoints! I said this about the last book I read from her and I’ll say it again, this is the best book I’ve read from Victoria yet! Stephanie is a single mom to three young kids just coming to terms with her year long divorce. After a major breakdown at the grocery store she befriends her neighbor Janey. Out of this friendship a book club is born. Shortly after Amanda and Emily join and the group is dubbed the Single Moms’‘ Book Club. Not only has Stephanie made new friends, but she has also started a new job as a bookkeeper at the local Vet’s office. There appears to be an instant connection between Stephanie and Edward the Vet even though he prefers tweed. But it’s complicated! Stephanie isn’t ready to introduce a new man into her kids lives and it appears as though Edward is taken.

Loved everything about the story! The book club moms were great. I loved their friendships and the way they supported one another. I was even OK with the fact that they didn’t always read the book. The romance was a slow burn, sweet and somewhat awkward. Stephanie was extremely relatable, as a mom and a single mom at that I found her character extremely authentic. Edward was a great love interest a little goofy, but so caring and kind. This was just such a wonderful heartwarming story that made me feel all warm and gooey inside.

Dead Secret by Noelle Holten **Book Review** @botbspublicity @nholten40

This new WordPress format has me pulling my hair out! I no longer have a choice so bear with me as I learn an entirely new way to post.🤬

Excited to share today my review for this excellent crime thriller! I truly believe this is the best of the series yet and I look forward to what’s next from Noelle!

My Thoughts

DC Maggie Jamison is back! Love this crime thriller series and this might be the best book yet! Each book is a self-contained case and can be read as a standalone, but once you’ve read one you’re going to want to read them all! Maggie is working on a seemingly innocuous murder case until a photograph is discovered that changes it’s trajectory. Lucy Sherwood plays a bigger role in this story then she did in the previous two. I have to say I was really thrilled to see more of her character after getting to know her so well in the first book. Lucy is opening up a home for victims of domestic abuse and her first resident is a bit of an enigma. Now I knew somehow these two storylines had something to do with one another, and I had so much fun trying to puzzle it out. I also really liked getting to no Maggie a bit better and enjoyed her flirty banter with reporter Julie. As always I was completely fascinated by the politics and inner workings of the police department and enjoyed that aspect of the story. This was such a well told fast paced thriller that had me completely invested! I did figure out who the culprit was slightly before the reveal in this book, but wow so well executed! And that ending?!?! That ending has me salivating for the next story in this excellent series!

About the Book

‘Enthralling from the first page to the last. Devoured in one sitting. Noelle Holten has become one of my must-read authors’ Angela Marsons, bestselling author of the Detective Kim Stone series

Psychopaths can take root in the unlikeliest soil…
