Beneath Cornish Skies by **Book Review** @rararesources

Happy Thursday all!

Whenever I see Cornwall or Cornish in the title I always jump at the chance to read the book. This book brought this area of the UK to such vivid life for me I now feel like I’ve actually been there.🐚

Beneath Cornish Skies

To an outsider, Cassandra Shaw‘s life looks perfect. She lives in a beautiful, luxurious house in the English countryside, with a handsome, wealthy boyfriend who insists she needn’t do a day’s work in her life. But Cassie knows that something is not right. Her boyfriend has grown colder, treating her more like a housekeeper than a future wife. And her time feels empty and purposeless.

Cassandra has always been riddled with insecurities and self-doubt, but, just for once, she decides to take a chance on a new beginning. She answers an advert for a live-in nanny, dog walker, cook and all-round ‘Superhuman’ for a family living in a rambling manor house on the rugged North Cornish coast. The work is hard and tiring, but Cassie has never felt so fulfilled.

As Cassie learns to connect with the natural beauty unfolding around her, Cornwall starts to offer up its secrets. Soon, Cassie starts wondering if she was drawn to this isolated part of the coast for a reason. Why was she guided to Foxcombe Manor? What are the flashes of light she sees in the valley? Is it her imagination or does someone brush past her? And who is the mysterious man living deep in the woods?

A beautiful romance with a hint of ghostliness, Beneath Cornish Skies is for anyone who has ever longed to start their lives again.

My Thoughts

Atmospheric and magical. Kayte Ryder’s beautifully vivid storytelling swept me away to the Cornish coast. Cassondra is tired of her controlling relationship and finding out her partner is cheating on her is the final straw. she applies for a job as a dog walker/horse wrangler/nanny/house manager for a family in Cornwall and is delighted to get the job. The work is hard but rewarding, different than her pampered past. as Cassondra becomes more and more comfortable with the change of lifestyle she ventures out. when she crosses paths with Luke she is intrigued. She loves his passion for the land and loves learning about the area’s beauty and history.

There was something so elegant about this book. I know that might sound a little strange, but I just found it classy, not even sure how to explain that. In all honesty the Romance part of the Story might have been my least favorite bit. I really liked both Cass and Luke and I definitely wanted them to end up together. But I wish Luke had not been married, that bothered me a little. what really drew me to this story was its sense of place. I seriously felt like I was in Cornwall. I also really appreciated the supernatural elements of the story, I thought that added the perfect touch. A lovely Romance with a lot of heart and a wisp of a ghost.
