Rescue You by Elysia Whisler **Audiobook Review** @harperaudio @harlequinbooks

Happy Friday friends!

Super excited to share today my review for this fun romance filled with dogs, fitness, and love.🐶

My Thoughts

Emotional and heartwarming. Comforting and raw. Healing and hurt. Elysia Whisler stole my heart with this gorgeous Romance filled with deep feelings and furry friends. Sisters Constance and Sunny have gone through a lot together. Now they’re both focusing on saving others, dogs in particular. Constance is a massage therapist but she doesn’t only work on two legged clients, but the four-legged variety as well. Sunny owns a dog shelter and is known to have “stolen“ a dog or two from a bad situation. When Constance finds herself in a hard-core gym owned by Rhett there is an instant connection. BUT the wounds in both Constance and Rhett run deep. What follows is a story filled with sweat, tears, anger, fear, regret, determination, healing, and of course dogs.

This was such an engaging Romance with so much substance and heart. The characters were so well-developed, multi dimensional with real and relatable emotion. Loved Constance as a character and was so interested in her job. I have worked all my adult life in gyms and I really enjoyed the fitness aspect of the story. And of course all the dogs added another heartwarming layer to the story. The romance was so quiet and patient, I really loved how feelings developed between Constance and Rhett in the story. There is a secondary romance going on in the story that I would love to see further explored in a future book. Lisa Larsen narrated the audiobook and did such a wonderful job. I loved the voice she gave each character especially that of Constance. You could just feel the compassion dripping from Constance when she was voiced through the narrator. If you like dogs, fitness, Romance, and emotion then this is a can’t miss.

Happy Thursday!

It’s a good day for a cover reveal and do I have a beauty for you! I loved the last book I read from Jamie Brenner and this sounds just as wonderful! Cannot wait until June 2021!🌷

About the Book

From acclaimed author Jamie Brenner comes a stunning new novel about three generations of women who discover that the “trashy” novels of a bygone era just might hold the key to saving their family’s coastal winery–and to finding the love that’s eluded them.

For decades, the lush vineyards and majestic manor house of the Hollander Estates winery made it the North Fork of Long Island’s premier destination for lavish parties and romantic day trips. Now the Hollander family fortunes have suffered, and as matriarch Vivian Hollander prepares for the arrival of her daughter and granddaughter for their annual summer reunion, she fears it might be their last. Worse, selling the family legacy to strangers might expose the dark secret she’s harbored for thirty-five years….

Visits to the winery have been bittersweet for Leah Hollander Bailey ever since her father refused to let her take her place in the family business. Now a successful Manhattan shop owner, Leah loves the life she’s built with her husband and daughter–but with her store, and her marriage, at a crossroads, she can’t help but view this year’s pilgrimage home as a sorely needed escape.

College senior Sadie Bailey has a thesis to write, and the towering shelves of the manor’s library offer endless academic inspiration. But when Sadie discovers evidence that her proper Grandma Vivian once ran a book club dedicated to the scandalous women’s novels of decades past, the shockingly outrageous tomes give her new insight into her family’s glory days.

Resurrecting the “trashy” book club begins as the distraction all three women need. But as they battle to save their birthright and heal old wounds, they just might find that the pages contain everything they need to know about how to fight for what they want–and for the life, and love, they deserve.

About The Author:

Jamie Brenner grew up on a steady diet of Jackie Collins and Judith Krantz novels. After college, she left her hometown of Philadelphia for New York City to live like the heroines of her favorite books. Her novels include the national bestseller THE FOREVER SUMMER, THE WEDDING SISTERS, and SUMMER LONGING, which People Magazine calls “a delightful escape.” Jamie divides her time between New York City, Philadelphia, and Provincetown.

Curses Are For Cads by Tamara Berry **Book Promo** @tlcbooktours

Happy Wednesday all!

Excited to share with you today a book that looks so so good! Cannot wait to finally find the time to read it!🔮

About the Book

The third installment in Tamara Berry’s charmingly quirky paranormal cozy mystery series finds Eleanor Wilde, the American scam psychic who’s set up shop as town witch in a quaint English village, summoned to a remote Scottish castle. There, an unusual assignment to locate a haunted trove of treasure threatens Eleanor’s budding romance, her livelihood…and her life!

Just as fake medium Eleanor Wilde begins falling for Nicholas Hartford III and his endearing family, she’s summoned to a remote Scottish castle where an unusual assignment to locate a haunted trove of treasure threatens Eleanor’s budding romance, her livelihood…and her life!

As Sussex’s resident witch and pseudo psychic, Eleanor has grown accustomed to somewhat strange requests for supernatural aid. So when Nicholas’s university pal, Sid Stewart, writes from the family’s remote castle in Scotland, begging for Ellie’s services as a medium, Ellie is only delighted to help.

Apparently, the recently deceased patriarch of Sid’s family, Glenn Stewart, died before divulging the whereabouts of an important cache of family heirlooms. The Stewart clan hopes a clairvoyant can contact him from beyond the grave. Of course, Ellie can’t actually commune with the dead. But faking it is the name of her game. She’s not worried, until . . .

Aboard the train for Oban, Ellie discovers that fellow medium Birdie White is also heading to the Outer Hebrides to assist the Stewarts. Birdie is a master in the art, serving as a spiritual consultant to royalty and even assisting Scotland Yard on occasion. Ellie might not trust the woman’s motivations, but Birdie’s skills are unquestionable.

But while Birdie is busy speaking with the dead, Ellie plans to talk to living suspects–namely, the other residents and employees of the spooky Stewart estate, who know a lot more than they’re letting on. Amid swirling rumors of cursed treasure, whispered tales of ghostly pirates, and a recent spate of preternatural murders, in order to catch the killer Ellie must confront the most terrifying possibility of all–her gift may be real . . .

About Last Night by A. S. Kelly **Book Promo** @rararesources

Hello book friends!

Excited to share with you today this book that shares a title with one of my all-time favorite movies! This book looks SO good and I’m hoping to find some time to read it in the near future!

About Last Night

Allow me to introduce myself.

My name is Tyler Hayes, and I’m a fireman.

Sorry to already disappoint you, but I’m not the person you think I am.

My charming uniform and seductive smile have caused nothing but trouble, and my not-so-honourable reputation, which I used to be so proud of, has kept me away from the one person I wanted to spend the rest of my life baking cookies for; my sweet, beautiful, slightly crazy Miss White.

I guess now I need to tell the whole story.

At forty years old, following years of self-sabotage, I’ve suddenly found myself admitting that I know absolutely nothing. Maybe my friend Niall was right when he told me to accept the process and just grow up. And now it’s too late; I’ll never be able to keep her close to me. All that’s left to do is watch helplessly – but deservedly – as my world comes tumbling down around me.

Promises at Indigo Bay by Ellen Oaksmith **Book Review** @bookouture

Happy Monday all!

This is the second book and this heartwarming series that I have absolutely fallen in love with!🍇

My Thoughts

Romance, friendship, family, and wine. This is the second book in Ellyn Oaksmith’s delightful small town romance series set in Washington’s Wine country. This book can absolutely be read as a standalone, but I think once you are enchanted by these characters you will want to go back and read the first book. Stela’s Life is perfect! She lives in a gorgeous small town, owns her own business, has an amazing best friend, and is living with the man of her dreams. When her boyfriend Paolo calls her to tell her he has a surprise for her when she gets home Stella is concerned. Stella does NOT want to get married, things are perfect just as they are why do they need to change. Unfortunately it is even more complicated than all that. Now Stella is left questioning the future and that starts with facing her past.

This was a sweet heartwarming story. It was lovely to go back to this charming small town and spend time with these characters. It was fun to see what Carmen was up to, I love her friendship with Stella even though it was a little shaky at times during this book. Stella and Paolo’s Romance started in the previous book so it was nice to see how much their love has grown. We also get to meet Paolo’s Italian mother in this book, and wow is she one intimidating woman. I sure felt for Stella as she try to get this formidable woman to like her. My only tiny complaint with the story is I wish that we got to spend more time with Stella and Paolo as a couple. They were always expressing how much they loved one another, but I didn’t necessarily feel it like I wanted to. I probably classify this as more women’s fiction than straight Romance-there is a lot packed into this little gem.

About the Book

Our life together meant more to me than he could possibly imagine. I just wanted another night. I thought I knew what was coming. A proposal. If only it had been that simple.

Things are finally working out for Stella Gallagher. Unlucky in love and faced with limited options in her small town, she was beginning to give up on romance altogether, until mysterious Italian Paolo Gentillo moved to Chelan…

Paolo is smart, kind, gorgeous and, most importantly, they’re completely obsessed with each other: Stella has finally found her match. Everything would be perfect, except there are things she hasn’t told Paolo—she doesn’t know how he’s going to feel about her when he finds out about her past…

So when Paolo proposes, Stella panics: it’s way too soon. She wants to be with him, but suddenly they’re talking about forever. He doesn’t even know the real her, she’s scared to face up to her secret, and she’s never felt so alone. Is the damage from her past going to threaten her chance at a perfect future?

A heart-warming story about learning to trust in yourself and the people you love, Promises at Indigo Bay will show you that it’s never too late to try for your happy ending. For fans of Robyn Carr, Carolyn Brown and Debbie Macomber.

Mine to Five by Tara September **Book Review** @rararesources

Hello my bookish friends!

This was such a short, sweet, and festive story!🎄

Mine to Five

Working beyond nine to five and barely getting by, Melanie Thomas is eager to celebrate the impending holiday season and to toast the start of her dream marketing job over drinks with her boyfriend. Unfortunately, he has different plans—like seeing other women.

Indulging in a pity party with tequila, Melanie confides in a sexy stranger at the bar. It’s almost Christmas. One night of letting go won’t hurt anything, right? Turns out it just might—when the stranger is her new boss. Determined to succeed at her job, Melanie won’t be scared away. This is her chance, even if her hot boss has her feeling all merry and bright and wishing for a less-than-professional relationship.

Matthew Ryans is burned out and on thin ice at the company he helped build unless he gets his head back in the game. Yet his head, both upper and lower, are quickly becoming obsessed with his new assistant. Still, he can’t seem to fully begrudge Melanie’s distracting presence and the Christmas joy she brings with it. Especially considering that her enthusiasm has him reenergized. For once, he is longing for Mondays, but with his heart and job on the line, he can’t risk blurring the lines no matter how strong the lure of holiday mistletoe is.

Will their holiday passion be able to fuel mutual career success, or will it only get in their way in the New Year?

My Thoughts

A festive little gem! Four hours on audio and packed with Romance, humor, steam, and holiday cheer. Melanie is looking hot and feeling good. Her spirits are high and she’s ready to have the time of her life the night before she starts her new dream job, and then… another woman answers her boyfriend’s phone. Melanie is devastated and decides to drown her sorrows in tequila. One shot leads to another… the man next to her is buying her drinks… next thing she knows she wakes up the next morning with a raging headache in bed with the man at the bar… Melanie does the walk of shame, but no big deal she will never see him again. Well at least not for a few hours until he shows up at her new job as her new boss. Whoops 😬

This was a short, sweet, and cute story. Both Melanie and Matthew were great characters who I immediately liked. The story primarily takes place in November and December so there’s lots of holiday cheer sprinkled throughout the story. This would be the perfect book to listen to on the road two family’s for Christmas or Thanksgiving. Just make sure there’s no little ears in the vehicle there is some definite steam in the story.

The Housewarming by S. E. Lynes **Book Review** @bookouture

Happy Sunday all!

Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend! This was a slow burn tense thriller about parents living through all parents worst nightmare.

My Thoughts

Ava and Matt are living every parent’s worst nightmare. You run upstairs to grab your phone before you leave the house. You know your child is safe because they’re buckled in their stroller and they can’t undo the latch. You take a minute to fold some sheets and scroll through Facebook- you finally have a minute to yourself and the baby is being quiet. And then… you go back downstairs and there is no baby in the stroller- and even worse… the door is wide open. Where is your baby? She couldn’t have gone far, could she have? Terrifying right? That is what happens to Ava, her daughter Abi is nowhere to be found. The story begins with Ava and her husband Matt frantically searching for their toddler Abi. Then the story jumps forward a year. Ava cannot let go of the guilt. How could she have left her little girl alone? How could she have not close the door? Why did she need to scroll through her phone? There was no body, there were no answers, there was no closure. Matt has finally talked Ava into going to the neighbors housewarming party and while there Ava overhears something that will change everything.

This was a slow burning emotional character driven thriller. This couples grief and guilt was dripping off the pages. The tension in the story was understated and the twists were quiet. I knew the truth was going to be sinister… but as things began to be revealed it was so much worse than I had anticipated. This was truly a heartbreaking tale about the lengths we go to protect ourselves and in doing so we hurt others.

About the Book

Everyone is going to the housewarming party.
All the same people who lived on the street the day Abi vanished…
Will her mother finally learn the truth?

Ava only left her daughter in the pushchair for five minutes. The buckle was fastened, and she was sure it was safe. But when she came downstairs, the door was open and Abi was gone – she walked down the road, past the Lovegoods’ house, and was never seen again.

A year later, the Lovegoods are planning their long-anticipated housewarming party. Ava doesn’t want to go. She can’t bear to look down that end of the road, to see the place where Abi vanished, and she doesn’t want to spend time with people who don’t share her grief. Her husband Matt persuades her: he’s worried about her. A night out might do her good.

But as her friends and neighbours chat, and the drink and gossip flows, Ava learns something new about the day she has re-lived a thousand times. A throwaway comment which could change everything.

Ava thought she knew every last detail of that day.

She’s about to find out she was wrong…

Brilliantly dark and moving suspense fiction for fans of Gillian Flynn, Claire McGowan and Lisa Jewell, The Housewarming will have your pulse racing and your heart in your mouth from start to finish.

The Girl She Wanted by K. L. Slater **Book Review** @bookouture

Happy weekend all!

If you are looking for a quick addictive thriller do I have the book for you!

My Thoughts

Tense and addictive. K L Slater has once again grabbed my attention with her gripping storytelling. Alexa and Carrie are sisters. Carrie has moved in with Alexa, her husband, and little girl Florence after her divorce. Alexa is a little more dependent on her sister Carrie then husband Perry would like. When Carrie who is a nurse is accused of wrong doings at the hospital Perry is more convinced than ever that she needs to leave the home. But Alexa knows that her sister would never do anything hurtful or harmful, that is until…..

The story bounces between the perspectives of several different characters keeping you informed and continually suspicious of everyone.. I really enjoyed getting to know all these characters and found the family dynamics intriguing. The more the layers of the story were peeled away the more unsure I was as to what was going on. There were definitely some twist at the end that I did not see coming. The original title of this book was DEAR DAUGHTER and I have no idea why they changed it because I cannot for the life of me figure out what this new title means? A quick absorbing thriller.

*** Big thank you to Bookouture for my gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own. ***

About the Book

What if my sister is unstable and everyone can see it but me? What was she really doing standing over Florence’s cot in the middle of the night?

Alexa has always looked up to her older sister Carrie. Carrie lives in Alexa’s family home, and adores her one-year-old niece Florence. Alexa doesn’t know how they would cope without her. So when Carrie is suspended from her job as a senior nurse, accused of the most terrible crime, Alexa reels in disbelief. Alexa knows how caring Carrie is, and as she watches Florence gurgling and cooing whenever Carrie is around, she knows her little girl is in safe hands.

Alexa’s husband doesn’t trust Carrie. He wants her out of the house, unable to ignore what people are saying about her. But when he suggests that Carrie could be a danger to their daughter, Alexa shuts him out. Nobody will ever come between her and her sister.

Then Florence is hurt while in Carrie’s care and Alexa at last starts to wonder. Alexa has always wanted to protect Carrie from the past they have hidden. But does Alexa know what Carrie wants? And will the secret that has kept the sisters together now destroy her little girl?

A completely gripping rollercoaster of a read about the darkness families hide behind closed doors. Fans of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train will be hooked on The Girl She Wanted.

The Christmas Swap by Sandy Barker **Book Review** @rararesources @sandybarker

Happy Thursday lovely people!

Hope life is treating you well! I just loved everything about this fun Christmas book filled with friendship, Romance, and holiday cheer.🎄

The Christmas Swap

Christmas is coming and best friends Chloe, Jules, and Lucy are needing change… so swapping homes for the holidays could be the perfect present for all of them!

Australian Chloe spends her Christmas in a sleepy village in Oxfordshire, England. She is totally star-struck when she discovers who lives across the road.

Lucy, who has jetted off to snowy Colorado for her dream-come-true white Christmas, is taken into the fold of Jules’s loud and brash family, discovering more about herself in a few short days than she has in years.

And Jules leaves the cold climes of Colorado to spend her Christmas on a beach with Chloe’s friends in Melbourne, finding that time away is just what she needed.

The only thing better than one Christmas romance is three, and this wonderful festive novel is perfect for fans of Sarah Morgan, Holly Martin and Karen Swan.

My Thoughts

A fun feel good festive Christmas swap. Three lovely romances for the price of one. Chloe, Lucy, and Jules met when they were 11 while they were on vacation with their families in Hawaii. The girls formed a fast friendship dubbing themselves the May Ladies since they all have May birthdays. Through the years the girls’ friendship has strengthened through video chats and vacations spent together. This year however they are planning something a little different Chloe is heading to Lucy‘s home in the UK for a traditional family Christmas. Lucy is heading to snowy Colorado for a white Christmas at Jule’s family ski cabin. And Jules is heading to Australia to spend time in the sun with Chloe‘s friends at their orphan’s Christmas. The book bounces around between the three girls adventures with periodic video calls between the three woven in. Love spending time with these three ladies in these three gorgeous locations. Also loved getting to know the three men they all get involved with-seriously Will, Matt, and Asher were three of the greatest guys ever. The chemistry was instant, the angst was minimal, and the romance was sweet. Admittedly I enjoyed Chloe and Lucy‘s stories a tiny bit more than Jules, probably because in California I’ve spent many a hot Christmas. Love how the book highlighted the different cultures and food when it comes to celebrating Christmas in these three locations. Snowboarding, winetasting, fair planning. Sun, snow, rain. Christmas cake, hot chocolate, shrimp. Three friends… three men… three Christmases… one great book!
