And So It Begins by Rachel Abbott **Book Review** @bookouture

Happy weekend my friends!

Wow does time fly while you’re reading good books! Cannot believe this is the last weekend of August? Although I must admit I’m waiting for the cooler weather, it’s been a very hot August for sure!🥵

My Thoughts

Masterfully manipulative. This was one twisted thriller chock-full of unreliable, unlikable, unbelievable characters. The book kicks off with a gory scene, Sergeant Stephanie King enters a residence and discovers two bloody bodies in a bed. One victim is alive and one victim is dead. Then the story bounces back two life with Mark and Evie. Mark is an eccentric photographer and Evie rescued him from his depression after the death of his first wife. Marks older sister Cleo has always been overprotective when it comes to Mark and she does not have a good feeling about Evie. A little psychological thriller… a little police procedural… a little quart room drama… a lot twisted….

This was a definite addictive read with plenty of potential bad guys. At no time during the story did I completely trust anyone, not even the detectives. The story is told from multiple perspectives so there is no doubt that each character has their own agenda going on. There is also a lot of misdirection and manipulation going on. Loved how this thriller also blended in the police investigation and the court case. I am purposely being vague because I certainly wouldn’t want to spoil this for you. A well told compelling thriller with a surprising end.

About the Book

‘A truly compelling, twisty, enthralling and satisfying read… Absolutely AMAZING!’ Angela Marsons, #1 bestselling author of Silent Scream

When I met Mark, I knew I had to make him mine. Thoughtful and sensitive, Mark lived in the most breath-taking house I’d ever seen – all glass and perched on the clifftop, with mesmerizing views across the waves below. It was where his first wife had died tragically, but it would be our promising new start.

When our gorgeous daughter Lulu was born, our perfect life was complete. But then I started having accidents at home. A broken hand… a black eye… Mark’s sister thought I was doing it for attention, but she had no idea how scared I was of who I had become.

If I told you what my life with Mark has turned into, I doubt you would believe it. But I need you to listen because you’re the only hope Lulu and I have left. And if I can make you see the truth, then maybe there’s a chance I can save my precious daughter…

A book so twisty you won’t be able to put it down. From the four-million-copy bestselling author, And So It Begins is an absolutely gripping read for fans of The Girl on the Train and The Woman in the Window.

You Lucky Dog by Julia London **Book Review** @berkleypub

Hello my book friends!

This book was SO adorable! It is the perfect book for anyone who loves romance, humor, and dogs!🐶

My Thoughts

An absolute treat!Heartwarming and hilarious. Fab characters and furry friends. Julia London has written a sweet romcom that will have you giggling, smiling, and wagging your tail. Carly is trying to stay relevant as a publicist burning the candle at both ends, so it is quite disturbing when she returns home and discovers the dog in her house is not hers. Max is a brain scientist, a Professor of neurological science at the University of Texas on the tenure track. He is equally perplexed to find that his lively Hazel has been replaced with a much more solemn dog, we later learned to find out is named Baxter. When Carly shows up at Max’s door with Hazel in tow there is an immediate connection… between Hazel and Baxter that is. OK well there might be a little bit of an attraction between Carly and Max but they are not willing to admit to that yet. On the outside they appear to be quite different Carly is quirky and free spirited while Max is A little more buttoned up and serious. However they cannot deny that Hazel and Baxter love spending time together and this offers them an excuse to also spend time together. What follows is a charming story filled with family, romance, growth, some surprises, and of course dogs.

This story was beyond adorable! I did really like Carly and Max, but Hazel and Baxter stole the show! Carly was a great strong and spunky character who I would love to have as a friend. The things she had to do for her job especially wearing those crazy high fashion outfits created by her fashion designer client had me cracking up. Max was great and I found the research he was doing involving dogs and autism really interesting. Max’s brother was autistic so he had a personal connection to this research, this also led to many heartwarming moments between Max and his brother. Carly’s family on the other hand was quite over the top. The interactions between Carly and her family generally left me chuckling. This is an absolute can’t miss for anyone who loves dogs, romance, and humor.

About the Book

An accidental dog swap unleashes an unexpected love match in this new romantic comedy from New York Times best-selling author Julia London.

Carly Kennedy’s life is in a spiral. She is drowning in work, her divorced parents are going through their midlife crises, and somehow Carly’s sister convinces her to foster Baxter – a basset hound rescue with a bad case of the blues. When Carly comes home late from work one day to discover that the dog walker has accidentally switched out Baxter for another perkier, friendlier basset hound, she has reached the end of her leash.

When Max Sheffington finds a depressed male basset hound in place of his cheerful Hazel, he is bewildered. But when cute, fiery Carly arrives on his doorstep, he is intrigued. He was expecting the dog walker, not a pretty woman with firm ideas about dog discipline. And Carly was not expecting a handsome, bespectacled man to be feeding her dog mac and cheese. Baxter is besotted with Hazel, and Carly realizes she may have found the key to her puppy’s happiness. For his sake, she starts to spend more time with Hazel and Max, until she begins to understand the appeal of falling for your polar opposite.

Under a Siena Sun by T. A. Williams **Book Review** @rararesources

Happy Thursday and happy birthday to this beautiful book!🎉🎉🎉

Under a Siena Sun

Lucy needed a change of scene. She didn’t expect the change of a lifetime.

Doctors Without Borders has been Lucy Young’s life for the past four years. After being rescued from a conflict zone, she’s making a change from saving lives under gunfire to practising medicine in safe, serene Siena.

Now treating wealthy patients at a private clinic, she’s never felt less comfortable. She’s used to helping those in dire need – not those in need of a nip and tuck. Her turmoil grows when she encounters injured tennis star David Lorenzo, whose smiles make Lucy forget her aversion to the rich.

She’s soon falling for the sportsman but is she losing herself in this world of excess? All she’s ever wanted was to help the underprivileged, so can her future lie in Siena at the clinic – with David?

This sunny romance is the perfect summer escape for fans of Lucy Coleman and Alex Brown.

My Thoughts

This book started with a BAM and ended with an AWW! Lucy is working with Doctors Without Borders when she is dramatically evacuated from Africa. Lucy is in need of some R&R so it is perfect timing to head off to her friends wedding in Siena. While at the wedding she is called upon to use her medical skills and this leads to a job offer at a upscale clinic in Siena. Lucy is torn… does it go against her code of ethics to work with the wealthy? Lucy takes the job but she is still conflicted and then she meets pro tennis player David….

OK Lucy is a great character with a huge heart. I appreciated her passion and struggle with the medical treatment for the haves versus the have Nots. I especially appreciated that this was addressed in such a thoughtful way in the book never getting preachy or cliché. David was a fun love interest. From grump… to lovable grump… to just plain lovable… There are also some adorable lovable dogs in this story. lastly but not leastly I thoroughly appreciated the vivid descriptions of the food and the setting. If I could I would pack my bags and head to Italy tomorrow, but sadly they won’t allow Americans in at the moment!

Author Bio – I’m a man. And a pretty old man as well. I did languages at university a long time ago and then lived and worked in France and Switzerland before going to Italy for seven years as a teacher of English. My Italian wife and I then came back to the UK with our little daughter (now long-since grown up) where I ran a big English language school for many years. We now live in a sleepy little village in Devonshire. I’ve been writing almost all my life but it was only seven years ago that I finally managed to find a publisher who liked my work enough to offer me my first contract.

The fact that I am now writing romantic comedy is something I still find hard to explain. My early books were thrillers and historical novels. Maybe it’s because there are so many horrible things happening in the world today that I feel I need to do my best to provide something to cheer my readers up. My books provide escapism to some gorgeous locations, even if travel to them is currently difficult.

Her Aussie Holiday by Stefanie London **Book Review** @tlcbooktours @entangledpub

Hello book friends!

This was such a sweet story! The perfect holiday Romance with a chance for more.🏖

My Thoughts

A sweet small town summer romance. Cora needs a break and Liv needs a place to stay in New York, so the two decide to do a house swap. Cora is so elated when she gets to the little isolated cottage in Australia, that is until she starts the shower and the water starts going everywhere. Fortunately for her Liv’se older brother Trent missed the memo that his sister was letting someone stay at her house. Thinking he will camp out on his sister’s couch He is surprised to find someone in the cottage and even more surprised to see the water spraying everywhere. But Trent acts quickly gets the water shut off and the two of them begin to clean up the damage. I’m sure you know where this story is going, but the journey getting there was so fun. A gorgeous setting, charming characters, adorable banter, all the feels, what more can you ask for from a romance?

This book was pure magic. I adored both of these characters so much. Cora was just so kind and caring, I felt for her and her insecurities. Her parents were not very supportive and her mother was despicable. Trent on the other hand comes from a loving supportive family, but he’s got a secret. He’s also got rock hard abs and a heart of gold. Now I have to admit it was a little awkward for me reading about a male love interest named Trent because that is my oldest son’s name. Of course I do think Trent was a great guy, because you know his name is Trent. LOL! But seriously these two were adorable together and I was really rooting for them the entire time.

Summer at Hope Haven by Kristin Harper **Book Review** @bookouture

Happy Wednesday all!

This was such a beautiful story with such a gorgeous setting. I would love to visit Dune Island one day.🐠

My Thoughts

Beautiful story. Gorgeous setting. All the feels. Kristin Harper has vividly woven together a tale of grief, hope, and heart. Emily has lost her family to tragedy and her fiancé to another woman. Faced with a long summer away from her job in academia she decides to return to her family cottage on Dune Island. She begins to regret her choice when the cottage starts bringing up too many painful memories. BUT Emily decides it is time for her to face her past not to mention she has volunteered to paint a mural in the local hospital. When she meets the affable good looking doctor Luke there is a definite attraction, but Emily is not ready to open her heart to anyone.

This was a sweet emotional slow burn romance, but the setting stole the show. This gorgeous island was so vividly described I could… feel the sand between my toes… smell the allure of the sea… hear the crash of the waves… taste the salt in the air…. Emily was such a lovely character. My heart broke for her for what she had gone through and my heart sword for her as she fought to get her life back. Lucas was a great guy and I really was hoping Emily and he would find their way to one another. The side characters were great and there were a few secrets and twists that were unexpected. This book was an absolute treat packed with all the feels.

About the Book

Making her way up the cedar-lined driveway, tears fill her eyes at the sight of the cottage’s faded trim and peeling turquoise shutters. Taking a deep breath, she grasps the heart-shaped iron door handle and steps inside the once-happy childhood home she’s been avoiding. It is time to face up to the past…

When Emily’s fiancé walks out on her while she’s still grieving the loss of her family in a terrible accident, she escapes back to Hope Haven on the remote Dune Island, where her family vacationed every summer. Emily hopes that fixing up the house will also mend her broken heart, but the cottage holds more than just bittersweet childhood memories. Emptying her father’s antique writing desk, Emily finds a letter that reveals a devastating secret about her parents.

With a head full of questions that can never be answered, it seems like returning to the island was the worst decision Emily ever made… until she meets Lucas Socorro, saltwater dripping from his dark curls after a surf session. As they take long walks on the soft sand, and talk late into the firefly-lit night, Emily wonders if Dr Luke—as the kids in the hospital call him—could be the one to help her heal. With Luke holding her hand, delving into her family’s painful past is a little easier.

Painting the gloomy cottage walls the colour of seashells, and revamping her grandmother’s flea-market furniture, Emily starts to feel she might call Dune Island home for good—and that she could build that home right here with Luke. But when Emily’s family secret spreads through a network of local gossips, her fragile heart breaks all over again. Luke is the only one who could have started the rumours. Was she wrong to trust him so easily?

As the sun sets behind the dunes, Emily has a difficult decision to make. Does she pack her bags and leave the island for good? Or take a risk that Hope Haven has everything she’s been looking for?

A beautiful and emotional read that will make you long to feel the sand beneath your feet. Perfect for fans of Nancy Thayer, Tracy Brogan and Mary Alice Monroe.

About the Author

Ever since she was a young girl, there were few things Kristin liked more than creative writing and spending time on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, with her family. Eventually (after a succession of jobs that bored her to tears), she found a way to combine those two passions by becoming a women’s fiction author whose stories occur in oceanside settings. While Kristin doesn’t live on the Cape year-round, she escapes to the beach whenever she can.

Starcross Manor by Christie Barlow **Book Review** @rararesources @onemorechapter

Happy happy Tuesday!

Love this series! It was so fun to once again visit this charming small town, see old friends, and make new ones.🦌

Starcross Manor

Dying to know more about the brooding and mysterious Flynn Carter and the secrets behind his plans for Starcross Manor?

You won’t want to miss the next spellbinding chapter in the Love Heart Lane series – where friends are there for you no matter what.

When Julia Coleman meets Flynn Carter again in the cosy village of Heartcross it can only mean trouble. Flynn might be rich, brooding and sexy, but Julia knows first-hand he’s ruthless and she plans to watch his every move.

When Julia discovers Flynn’s plans for beautiful Starcross Manor her greatest fears come true.  Because Flynn’s dreams of turning Starcross into a luxury hotel could ruin Julia’s dreams…and finish off the community of Heartcross for good.

Flynn makes it clear he doesn’t want trouble, and he’s not the man Julia thinks he is.  As he sets about convincing the community he’s changed, he hopes he can convince Julia to give him another chance too…

My Thoughts

Lovely and lavish. Sweet and sassy. Charming and cozy. Christie Barlow once again captivated me with her delightful storytelling. Loved returning to the darling village of Heartcross. This is the fourth book in the series, but each book without a doubt can be read as a standalone. In this book we get to know Julia the owner of the B&B better. Owning a B&B is a dream come true for Julia, her business is flourishing and she is about to add on an extension. Things could not be going better until Flynn Carter breezes into town. Not only did Flynn take advantage of Julia when she was selling her grandfathers land, but he also jilted one of her friends at the altar. When Julia finds out Flynn is opening a five-star luxury hotel in her village she is determined that he must be stopped. The thing is Flynn seems to be a genuine guy really wanting to fit into this village. Could Julia be wrong? Could things be not quite as they appear? And to make things even more confusing Julia is definitely attracted to the handsome Flynn.

This was so fun! Julia was such a great character. I loved how thoughtful she was and how willing she was to admit when she made a mistake. I also loved all the strong female friendships in the story and the sense of community. Flynn seemed like such a great guy and it was hard to reconcile him with the guy that Julia previously knew. Starcross Manor and the surrounding property were so vividly and beautifully described I felt like I was there. I seriously would not mind actually being there it sounded so glorious every little detail. Loved how lush an opulent it all was and yet still down to earth and authentic. The romance was a sweet very slow burn and I’m hoping we see more of this couple in the next book.

Snowflakes Over Bay Tree Terrace by Fay Keenan **Book Review** @rararesources @boldwoodbooks

Happy Monday all!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Well maybe not it has been HOT here over 100° almost every day wouldn’t mind a little snowflake or two.🗽❄️

Snowflakes Over Bay Tree Terrace

As the snowflakes fall, new love blossoms…

When teacher Florence Ashton receives a surprise inheritance, she decides to make the life-changing decision to up sticks to the charming town of Willowbury in Somerset. With a new house and a new job, she’s too busy putting down roots to think about love.

Air Ambulance pilot Sam Ellis is definitely not looking for romance either, especially not on his doorstep. When Florence, his new neighbour, complains about his noisy housemate, he feels more cross than star-crossed.

But as the nights draw in and both find themselves thrown together in Willowbury’s seasonal drama production, will they overcome their differences and allow a little bit of winter magic to fall along with the snow? And what secrets will be revealed by the box of memories Florence finds in the attic at Bay Tree Terrace?

Let Fay Keenan transport you to the perfect country winter wonderland, with roaring fires, spectacular scenery, and unforgettable characters.  Perfect for all fans of Cathy Bramley, Fern Britton and Katie Fforde.

My Thoughts

A fun, festive, and feel good story. Is it ever too early to be reading Christmas books? Of course not, but I have to admit it was a little strange reading this when it’s over 100° out. Florence makes a life change after inheriting a cottage in A small town from her aunt. Sam is Florences new neighbor a little grumpy and too busy worrying about his brother Aiden to get involved in a relationship. But there is definite chemistry between Florence and Sam and after they are cast to perform in a Christmas play together it is harder to resist. This was an engaging will they won’t they romance. I loved the small town setting and the festive feels. Florence was such a kind character and Sam was such a good guy I really was routing for them. I also really liked Sam’s brother Aiden, I thought his PTSD was thoughtfully woven throughout the book. This was a delightful Christmas read that put me in a festive mood in the middle of August.

Summer at My Sisters by Emily Harvale **Book Review** @rararesources @emilyharvale

Hello my book friends!

Excited and delighted to share with you today my review for this sweet small town story from one of my favorite authors 🏖

Summer at my Sister’s

Twin sisters. One scorching summer.

A bucketful of secrets.

Diana’s life is perfect. Her twin sister, Josie’s – not so much.

Diana has a rich and successful husband, two talented youngsters and an adorable dog. She always looks as if she’s stepped from the cover of a magazine. Her immaculate second home by the sea, for idyllic summers with her perfect family, was actually featured in one.

Josie has a messy, compact flat, dates, but not relationships, and she can’t even keep a houseplant alive. She moves from job to job, goes clubbing with her friends and often looks as if she’s fallen through a hedge.

Although Josie loves Diana deeply, each year she declines the invitation to spend the summer with her sister. Or any other family holiday. Because Josie has a secret.

But is Diana’s life so perfect? Or is she also hiding something? When secrets are revealed this summer, everything will change. Josie could finally have the life she’s always wanted … if she’s brave enough to take a chance.

My Thoughts

A sweet small town story with a splash of sizzle. Emily Harvale never fails to completely suck me into her stories filled with charming characters and delightful settings. This is the first book set in the adorable seaside town of Seahorse Harbor. Josie and Diana are twins, but they could not be more different in both luxe and temperament. Josie is free spirited, fun loving, and single. Living in New York, traveling around the world, never staying anywhere too long to commit to anyone or anything. Diana is the responsible twin. She is married to a handsome rich Doctor, has two beautiful children, a gorgeous home, and a rambunctious dog. When the twins mom is convinced something is going wrong in her perfect Diana‘s life she asks Josie to go see what is going on. The thing is Josie has not been back to Seahorse Harbor since she was a teenager when her life changed forever. But after a quick phone call to Diana Josie is convinced that her sister needs her so she hops a plane to the UK to see her sister and face her past.

this was such an engaging story! I just loved everything about it! Josie and Diana were both great characters and I loved their sister bond. Now I have to admit Diana would be a friend you’d want in an emergency and Josie is a friend you’d want to go party with. Although there is much more to Diana then it first appeareds and Josie could be a bit much at times. Their Aunt Elsie was great and added the perfect amount of color to the story. Also adored Diana‘s kids Toby and Becca and of course Henry the dog. There are also three hot available men in Seahorse Harbour that have caught Josie‘s eye. All three men were really great guys, I was curious as to who Josie would end up with, and I am happy to say I liked her choice. Although I have to say I was seriously frustrated with the girl( and the guy) many times throughout this book. Another stellar story from one of my favorite authors, can’t wait to visit Seahorse Harbour again.

Excerpt

Thank you so much for allowing me to share a little extract from my new book, Summer at my Sister’s.

This is where Josie Parnell is on her way to her twin sister, Diana’s house but stops for a while and meets up with Liam Fulbright – a man she hasn’t seen since he married the most beautiful girl in the world (in Josie’s opinion) when he was just nineteen.

I decided to sit for a while beneath the ancient Oak in the centre of the village, and right in front of the church. From here there was a view directly out to sea and I watched a yacht bob along in the distance and seagulls soar and swoop low over the glass-like, turquoise water. I breathed deeply, pushed my sunglasses onto the top of my head, shoving back the tumbles of wavy red hair and closed my eyes, suddenly remembering long-ago summers. I heard someone walking past but I kept my eyes closed. Until I heard my name.

‘Josie? Is that you?’

My eyes shot open at the sound of a man’s voice. It sounded a lot like Liam Fulbright’s had all those years ago, only deeper, stronger and more commanding somehow. But the man standing in front of me looked nothing like the Liam I remembered. Liam had been tall and gangly and never quite as tanned as everyone else. His hair was always short, as if the scissors had taken fright and cut off far too much. Bits of it stuck out everywhere, a bit like a porcupine. His eyes were dark blue, but nothing to write home about, especially as they appeared more bulbous thanks to the thick glasses he wore. But I had always thought there was something simmering just beneath the surface and that one day, whatever it was, would burst forth and Liam would be transformed.

It seemed I was right. Unless this wasn’t Liam Fulbright.

‘It’s Liam. Liam Fulbright. I don’t suppose you remember me? We spent several summers together, a lifetime ago. Becca told my daughter, Orla you were coming. You haven’t changed a bit. Except, perhaps your hair. I think it was chestnut brown in those days.’ His smile was warm and friendly.

I shaded my eyes from the sun.

‘Liam Fulbright? Really? Wow.’

I put on my sunglasses so that I could see him better and got to my feet. He towered over me. But then so did everyone. Diana and I stopped growing when we reached five foot three.

‘Don’t tell me you’ve walked from the station?’

‘What? Oh. Er. No. I took a taxi but stopped for a quick drink at The Seahorse Inn.’

‘And ended up on the bench here? Just the one drink? Or did you have several?’

I didn’t answer immediately. I was still trying to take in how much he had changed.

‘Er. No. Just one. But I think the jet lag and heat is getting to me.’

‘So you stopped to admire the view.’ He half-turned to look at the sea and then his eyes focussed on me again.

‘Well, it is a rather gorgeous view,’ I said, scanning him from the tips of his black, Converse trainers to the roots of his lustrous chocolate-brown hair.

Gone was the spiky haircut and in its place, soft, natural waves sat around a deeply tanned and exceedingly handsome face. The firm jaw held a hint of stubble, the dark blue eyes, sparkling in the bright sunlight were free of glasses and when he smiled, his sensuous-looking lips parted to reveal perfect, naturally white teeth. He was at least six foot or more and his legs were long in his jeans. His pale blue cotton shirt, although not tight, showed that his chest and shoulders were broad and his forearms, where the sleeves had been rolled back, were certainly toned. Not in a body-builder way, but in a way that made it clear Liam Fulbright was no slouch.

‘I agree with you on that,’ he said. ‘I couldn’t imagine living anywhere but here and seeing that view every day.’

‘No. I could easily get used to a view like this. I mean, like that. The sea. The sea view is gorgeous. Er … I was so sorry to hear about Una. I should’ve sent a card or something. Sorry. I’m a terrible person, I know.’

He reached out and touched my shoulder and I swear to you, my skin seared beneath his hand. Or perhaps my shoulders had got sunburnt. I was wearing a sleeveless blouse and I’m not sure how long I was sitting on that bench in the full midday sun.

‘No you’re not, Josie.’ His voice changed tone. I could detect a hint of anger. ‘To be honest, I wouldn’t have known if you had or not. I was in a bit of a state and didn’t really take in anything at the time. Everything was a bit of a blur.’

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson @HoJay92 #bookreview

Hello book friends, I hope you are all doing well?

Let me introduce you to your new obsession!!

40916679._SY475_

My Review

Pippa (Pip for short) is working on a school project for her final year, choosing a topic is difficult and she is finding it really hard. She wants to be a journalist when she leaves school, so wants to really prove her worth.

So what is the best thing to do as a budding journalist? Well investigate a crime of course! But not any old crime, she decides to investigate a crime from 5 years ago, where a young girl in the town was murdered by her boyfriend, only she thinks that he didn’t do it, and she’s going to prove it!

A body was never found, and some blood in a car, and a text on the evening of the murder was all the police needed to pin the murder on Andrea Bell’s boyfriend Sal, but little things seem to be out of place for Pip, because Sal then killed himself in the local woods, which then adds to the guilty verdict.

And so her final year project is chosen, Pip along with the help of Sal’s younger brother Ravi, start to investigate the murder, but not everyone wants her to interfere into something that is already closed!

For a debut novel this was such a fun read, and I’ve already bought book 2, although I’m holding out for the audiobook.

Narration was so brilliantly done, it is a full cast, and done exquisitely, if you loved Sadie last year, then you’ll love this one too.

Enjoy

When she chooses the case as the topic for her final project, she starts to uncover secrets that someone in town desperately wants to stay hidden. The Last Charm by Ella Allbright **Book Review** @rararesurces @onemorechapter

Happy weekend all!

This book my friend! Hit me right in the heart! This is when I definitely recommend to anyone who likes an emotional heartfelt story.

The Last Charm

A moving and heartwarming love story perfect for fans of Me Before You and One Day in December…

Leila’s charm bracelet tells a story of love, a story of loss, a story of hope.

This is the story of her … and the story of Jake.

When Leila Jones loses her precious charm bracelet and a stranger finds it, she has to tell the story of how she got the charms to prove she’s the owner. Each and every one is a precious memory of her life with Jake.

So Leila starts at the beginning, recounting the charms and experiences that have led her to the present. A present she never could have expected when she met Jake nearly twenty years ago…

My Thoughts

Beautiful and emotional. Tender and touching. Heartwarming and heart wrenching. Ella Allbright’s enchanting storytelling hit me right in the feels. This is the story of Leila and Jake. The story spans 15 years and highlights the events that the charms on Leila‘s charm bracelet represent. A heart, a key, a dog, a car, a rainbow, a champagne bottle, A pencil, a book…. The story is told linearly so we really get to watch Layla, Jack, and their friends and family laugh, cry, and live through the years. The story has such a raw and authentic quality and I was completely invested in the lives of these characters. Leila was a great character, but wow did that girl frustrate me. Jake I just loved him he really was an honorable man. All the secondary characters added so much heart and charm to the story. This book really took me by surprise, it exceeded my expectations, and will stay with me for a long time. A stunning heartfelt story.
