happy Saturday everyone!
this book was so wild! I’m still trying to digest the ending. If you like twisted books with wild slightly unbelievable endings, this one’s for you!
Cross Her Heart
My Thoughts
Cross My Heart, Hope To Die.
This book is wild! I’m still trying to wrap my head around how we got from the beginning of this book to the end? Sarah Pinborough Has once again left me reeling and thinking WTAF? This book started off simply enough. We have Lisa the helicopter mother, Ava The rebelling daughter, and Marilyn the devoted friend. We know Lisa has a bit of a past, because she is hesitant to start a new relationship with Simon. We also know that Ava has started an online correspondence with an older man. Then one day Eva is at the beach, a child goes into the water and she jumps in and saves him and gets some media attention. Then the book goes off the rails. Secrets are revealed, lies are told, feelings are hurt, trusts are betrayed, revenge is seeked. The story is told from the perspectives of Lisa, Ava, and Marilyn, and all three of these ladies have secrets to hide. Twists and turns, zigs and zags, I didn’t know if I was coming or going. Seriously the last 40% of this book I spent with my jaw on the floor. The story and these ladies lives were spinning out of control. This is a story that will definitely make you stretch your mind and if you’re all about believability, this might not be the book for you. Miss Pinborough has spun a disturbing tale with a deranged ending.

“Sarah Pinborough is about to become your new obsession.”—Harlan Coben
Lisa is living a lie and everyone is about to find out.
Lisa lives for her daughter Ava, her job and her best friend Marilyn.
But when a handsome client shows an interest in her, Lisa starts daydreaming about sharing her life with him, too. Maybe she’s ready now. Maybe she can trust again. Maybe it’s time to let her terrifying secret past go.
But when her daughter rescues a boy from drowning and their pictures are all over the news for everyone to see, Lisa’s world explodes.
As she finds everything she has built threatened, and not knowing who she can trust, it’s up to Lisa to face her past in order to save what she holds dear.
But someone has been pulling all their strings. And that someone is determined that both Lisa and Ava must suffer.
Because long ago Lisa broke a promise. And some promises aren’t meant to be broken.

I don’t know if this one would be the right one for me, because me and believability are on a complicated relationship, sometimes it’s important sometimes not so much but it all depends on the context… But after reading your review I have to give this one a try!

Excellent review, Berit! I’m on the fence about the believability part though. I think I prefer plausibility. But since you loved it so much I’ll take your word for it. 😉
