The Marriage Trap by Sheryl Browne @sherylbrowne @bookouture #bookreview #themarriagetrap

Happy happy weekend!

Excited to share my review for this wild thriller! Thanks so much to Kim for my invitation to the tour!📚

My Thoughts

Twisty twisty twisty! Sheryl Browne has taken me on another wild and crazy ride. This book starts out pretty straightforward. Jason is packing his bags leaving his wife Carla and their two kids. The story then jumps back to events leading up to this, and you are pretty certain you know the story. BUT then Bing bang boom things go sideways upside down and inside out! As soon as you get a handle on one twist another one comes along. And let me tell you what these twists were not for the faint of heart, they were dark and disturbing and oh so twisted! The lies did not stop with Jason and Carla they Extended to Carla’s parents Robert and Diana. The poor kids that were caught up in this large web of deceit, secrets, and lies! And the ending? All I’m going to say is WHAT!?! This was an entertaining fast-paced story that kept me glued to the pages from first page to last. Sometimes the plot was a little frantic, a little over-the-top, a little unbelievable, but I did not care because I was so very entertained! Another fantastic thriller to add to the TBR!

*** thanks so much to Bookouture for my copy of this book ***

About the Book

My husband has been keeping secrets for a long time. He thinks I don’t know what he does outside of this house. But I know everything…

Karla watches silently as Jason hurriedly packs his belongings into a suitcase. She knows that her stillness is unnerving him as she watches his every move from the doorway of their bedroom.

Clothes are screwed up and packed into the case, along with a watch she bought him for his last birthday and his precious laptop. He takes everything from his bedside table. Everything except the framed wedding photo, which now stands alone. Karla strains to see the smiling faces in the photo. If only she knew then what she knows now.

‘I’ve fallen in love with someone else,’ he’d said to her, just moments earlier. The brutality of those words hit Karla hard and she struggled to breathe as she took in each word in turn.

You may think you know what Karla will do next. But you’ll be wrong. Because Karla isn’t who you think she is. Only she knows what’s about to happen. And you will never see it coming.

An absolutely gripping psychological thriller for readers who loved The Girl on the TrainGone Girland The Other Woman. With twists you’ll never see coming, you will not be able to put this one down!

About the Author

Sheryl’s latest psychological thriller THE MARRIAGE TRAP comes to you from fabulous BOOKOUTURE. A member of the Crime Writers’ Association and the Romantic Novelists’ Association, Sheryl has several books published and two short stories in Birmingham City University anthologies, where she completed her MA in Creative Writing.

So why does Sheryl write in two genres? Quoting E. L. Doctorow, Sheryl says: “Writing a novel is like driving a car at night in the fog. You can only see as far as your headlights.” This she thinks sums up a writer’s journey, you never quite know where you are going until you get there. If Sheryl’s not sure where a character is going, she simply has to trust him to show her the way. Plus, according to one reviewer, she also has a scary insight into the mind of a psychopath. Manipulated Lies by H. A. Leuschel @haleuschel @rararesources #bookreview #manipulatedlies

TGIF friends!

Summer is coming to an end way too soon, my youngest goes back to school next Thursday! Today I am sharing with you my review for one of the short stories in this book filled with thrilling and intriguing short stories. Thanks Rachel for my invitation to this tour!🖤

Manipulated Lives

Five compelling true-to-life stories each highlighting a narcissist’s manipulative mind games

Narcissists are everywhere.

They can be witty, charming and highly charismatic.

Anyone can be their target.

At first their devious, calculating mind games can be hard to spot because they are masters of disguise, but then they revert to their true self of being controlling and angry in private. Their main aim: to dominate and use others to satisfy their needs, with a complete lack of compassion and empathy for their victim.

All stories highlight to what extent narcissistic abuse can distort lives and threaten our self-worth yet ultimately, also send a positive message that once the narcissist is unmasked, the victims can at last break free.

My Thoughts

Tess and Tatoos:

This was a short story That packed a big punch…. The characters were very well-developed especially given that it was only 53 pages…. an entertaining read that I actually read twice, because I wanted to go back and see if I had missed anything….

Tess is elderly and living in a home for the elderly when she meets Sharon a caretaker who she befriends….. The relationship between these ladies was lovely….. they both played such an important part in each others life, giving them each something they needed at that time in their lives….

Tess has a story that needs to be told…. something her son needs to know before she passes away… there are some twists, some secrets are revealed, and of course there is a tattoo….

Absolutely recommend this book to anybody that wants a quick entertaining enjoyable read and bonus it is free on Kindle….
