Happy Thursday all!
When you get to be a certain age you get really excited when a book has a character that is the same age as you! This was a fun story that made me glad I’m not married anymore! Thanks Noelle for my invitation to the tour!🏡
My Thoughts
Debbie Viggiano has written a clever and humorous story about the realities of life and marriage. Lucy has been married to husband Leo for 25 years and things are starting to get to her. Toothpaste in the sink, laundry on the floor, and just being completely taken for granted. So when Leo decides they should downsize to a charming cottage in need of renovation and the kids decide they need to move home, Lucy implodes. But is it a good thing that handsome Will the builder is there to pick up the pieces? Will Lucy and Leo’s marriage fall apart or spark again?
Lucy and I have a lot in common. We are both almost 50, we both have three grown children…. well that might be where it ends, I am no longer married and she is. I thought this story took a very realistic look at marriage and keeping it strong and fresh and try not to take each other for granted. I did really like Lucy, she was the kind of character I would love to be friends with. But if I were her friend I would have told her to stay clear of that Will. If I’m being honest just the implication of cheating really bothers me. I am a firm believer that if you are not happy in your marriage then get out do not cheat, not even sure why this bothers me so much because as far as I know I was never cheated on. But despite that this was a delightful story that made me laugh and just feel good! The perfect read for a lazy summer afternoon!
