Savage Games by Peter Boland @PeterBoland19 @BOTBSPublicity #bookreview #savagegames

Happy Sunday evening/Monday morning!

Hope you had a fabulous weekend! Excited to share with you today my review for this action packed Mystery! Thank you so much Sarah for my invitation to the tour!🕵🏼‍♂️

My Thoughts

This was an action-packed fast-paced thriller. This is the second book in Peter Boland’s John Savage series, but it can absolutely be read as a standalone. The story starts off with a body being found in a tree. A young man approaches JohnSavage to help solve the murder of his father who also happens to be a old school friend of Savages. There is also a second storyline about “undesirables“ living in less than desirable conditions. Two storylines seemingly completely disconnected that come together to form the perfect crime thriller.

This was a well done action driven crime thriller with some pretty remarkable and interesting characters. John Savage suffers from PTSD, there is a constant struggle between his inner demons and himself. I thought this part of John’s character made him so authentic, complex, and vulnerable. Tannaz, Johns sidekick, a hacker who really balances John out. The relationship between these two characters really was the highlight of this book for me.The story was a definite high-octane thriller perfect for adrenaline junkies. In the blurb John Savage is compared to Jack reacher and I thought that was a fair comparison. If I’m being completely honest this is not my favorite type of thriller, but the strength of the characters really made this an enjoyable read for me! So if you like a lot of action in your thrillers you will absolutely love this one! Great characters, high flying action, and a perfect ending!

*** A huge thank you to Sarah and the author for my copy of this book ***

About the Author

After studying to be an architect, Pete realised he wasn’t very good at it. He liked designing buildings he just couldn’t make them stand up, which is a bit of a handicap in an industry that likes to keep things upright. So he switched to advertising, writing ads for everything from cruise lines to zombie video games.

After becoming disillusioned with working in ad agencies, he switched to writing novels (or was it because he wanted to work at home in his pyjamas?). He soon realised there’s no magic formula. You just have to put one word in front of the other (and keep doing that for about a year). It also helps if you can resist the lure of surfing, playing Nintendo Switch with his son, watching America’s Next Top Model with his daughter and drinking beer in a garden chair.

I’ll Never Tell by Catherine McKenzie @CEMcKenzie @luauthors @amazonpub #bookreview #illnevertell

Happy Sunday all!

Delighted to share of the day my review for this thrilling thriller! The story was told from seven different perspectives and done seamlessly!⛺️🛶

My Thoughts

𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆. 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘀. 𝗟𝗶𝗲𝘀.

Catherine McKenzie has crafted a stellar who done it with dynamic characters and a creepy setting. Siblings Ryan, Margot, Mary, Kate, and Lydia have gathered for the reading of their fathers will. The family owns a camp and the will will determine its future, but it is far more complicated than that. 20 years ago Amanda Margo’s best friend was found bloody and bludgeoned in a boat washed up on the shore of the camp. It is the siblings job to vote and determine whether or not Ryan the oldest sibling is guilty of this tragedy. So what happens when your siblings are your judge and jury?

What a book! Catherine Mckenzie seamlessly weaves together this tale told from seven different perspectives. Not only do we get the perspective of the five siblings, but we also get that of Sean the camp caretaker and Amanda the victim of the tragedy years ago. Each character was skillfully crafted with their own unique voice, characteristics, and quirks. The character development in the story was exceptional I felt as though I had a personal relationship with each of these characters. This was a complicated story about family drama, family secrets, and family history. Each of the siblings had something to hide. Really makes you wonder how well do you actually know your own siblings?

There were definitely some twists and turns in the story and an ending I did not see coming. But what truly drove this book was the characters and their relationships to one another. This really is my favorite kind of book. The kind of book that completely draws me in, the kind of book that I can fully escape into, the kind of book that gets me completely invested in the characters lives. Another well told story from Catherine McKenzie! An author who is A definite autoread for me!

*** huge thanks to Lake Union for my copy of this book ***

About the Book

Deeply buried secrets make for a disturbing family reunion in bestselling author Catherine McKenzie’s tantalizing novel of psychological suspense.
What happened to Amanda Holmes?
Twenty years ago, she was found bludgeoned in a rowboat at the MacAllister family’s Camp Macaw. No one was ever charged with the crime.
Now, after their parents’ sudden deaths, the MacAllister siblings return to camp to read the will and decide what to do with the prime real estate the camp occupies. Ryan needs to sell. Margaux hasn’t made up her mind. Mary believes in leaving well enough alone. Kate and Liddie – the twins – have opposing views. And Sean Booth, the groundskeeper, just hopes he still has a home when all is said and done.
But it’s more complicated than a simple vote. The will stipulates that until they unravel the mystery of what happened to Amanda, they can’t settle the estate. Any one of them could have done it, and each one is holding a piece of the puzzle. Will they work together to finally discover the truth, or will their secrets finally tear the family apart?

The Secret – Violet’s Story by Eliza J Scott @elizajscott1 @rararesources #coverreveal #thesecret

Happy Sunday all!

Excited to help reveal the cover for this third book in a series that I have thoroughly enjoyed!💕

The Secret – Violet’s Story

It’s been two years since glamorous and ambitious Violet Smith fell head-over-heels in love with blacksmith Jimby Fairfax, and moved back home to the North Yorkshire village of Lytell Stangdale to be with him.

Life couldn’t get much sweeter. Their romance is blooming and Romantique – the business she set up with Jimby’s sister Kitty, designing luxurious underwear and burlesque costumes with the odd wedding dress throw in – is thriving.

But on a romantic weekend break, a face from her past triggers a series of events which send Violet into turmoil. She finds herself with no alternative but to reveal a secret she’s buried deep for the past sixteen years. A secret she hasn’t shared with anyone, not even her best friends, Kitty and Molly, and they share everything.

With the revelation forcing a wedge between herself and Jimby, heartbroken Violet fears that he won’t ever be able to think of her in the same way again and won’t want anything more to do with her.

As ever, Kitty and Molly rally round, offering their advice and support but Vi is worried that keeping her secret was just a step too far for Jimby.

Will she succeed in showing him their love is strong enough to overcome it?

The Secret – Violet’s Story is book 3 in the Life on the Moors Series.
