The Beast’s Heart by Leife Shallcross @leioss @BerkleyPub #bookbestiesbeastheart #bookreview #thebeastsheart

TGIF! I am so ready for the weekend!

Super excited to share with you today my review for this magical tale, a beautiful retelling of Beauty and the Beast🌹

This was a fun group read with Jennifer and Kenzi, as always I enjoyed sharing my thoughts with these wonderful ladies!💕

My Thoughts

A magical tale as old as time.

This was an enchanting retelling of Beauty and the Beast, told from the Beast’s perspective…. my only true knowledge of this story is from Disney and from that movie I had a bit of a soft spot for Beast… so I was really excited when I heard this book was going to tell us the story from his point of view… and this book did not disappoint… although I do have to admit because this book had a bit of a young adult vibe the Beast wasn’t quite as alpha as I would have liked… A magical story, lyrically told, that really gave me a real fairytale vibe… The writing was a bit old-fashioned and really gave you a sense of being right there with Beast and Isabeau… this was something that actually threw me off, not being right there with them, but the fact that the main female protagonist was not named Bell but Isabeau… not going to lie it took me a good while to figure out she was the correct love interest, I kept waiting for Bell to show up! Once I got over that I really got into the story and fell in love with this beautiful castle and the adorable Beast…

I am sure most of you are very familiar with this plot so I’m not going to regurgitate it… One thing I think you need to know before you pick it up though it is very heavy on the romance, a very clean romance, but romance all the same… Beast was one determined and relentless man and I have to say I am not sure if Isabeau was worthy of his love? It could possibly be that women were much more reserved in 17th century France then they are today,Isabeau just seemed a little cold… but I really did like her family her father and her sisters, and I like that Beast could glimpse them in that magical mirror…

A beautifully told story Full of heart and charm! Recommend🌹

Tale as old as time
True as it can be
Barely even friends
Then somebody bends
Unexpectedly
Just a little change
Small to say the least
Both a little scared
Neither one prepared
Beauty and the beast
Ever just the same
Ever a surprise
Ever as before and ever just as sure as the sun will rise
Ever just the same
Ever a surprise
Ever as before
Ever just as sure
As the sun will rise
Tale as old as time
Tune as old as song
Bittersweet and strange
Finding you can change
Learning you were wrong
Certain as the sun
Certain as the sun
Rising in the east
Tale as old as time
Song as old as rhyme
Beauty and the beast…

About the Book

A luxuriously magical retelling of Beauty and the Beast set in seventeenth-century France–and told from the point of view of the Beast himself.

I am neither monster nor man—yet I am both.

I am the Beast.

He is a broken, wild thing, his heart’s nature exposed by his beastly form. Long ago cursed with a wretched existence, the Beast prowls the dusty hallways of his ruined château with only magical, unseen servants to keep him company—until a weary traveler disturbs his isolation.

Bewitched by the man’s dreams of his beautiful daughter, the Beast devises a plan to lure her to the château. There, Isabeau courageously exchanges her father’s life for her own and agrees to remain with the Beast for a year. But even as their time together weaves its own spell, the Beast finds winning Isabeau’s love is only the first impossible step in breaking free from the curse . . .

Husbands and Other Sharp Objects by Marilyn Simon Rothstein @suzyapbooktours @NounsandVerbs1 #bookreview #husbandsandothersharpobjects

Happy Friday book people!

Super excited to share this review with you! This book was straight up hilarious! I love humor in my books and this book was packed full of it! A huge thank you too Suzy for my invitation to this delightful tour!🌹

My Thoughts

A hilarious story full of humor and heart!

This book was just straight up fun! A fun heart warming story guaranteed to make you laugh out loud! All families are dysfunctional, some families are more dysfunctional than others… I loved how this book just laid everything out there on the table…. it reminded me of those days when everything is going wrong so you just have to laugh!

Marcy was a fabulous character who I have a lot in common with… I am divorced, have three kids, and have two close friends that help me get through it all! What I don’t have is a John, although I don’t think I’m ready for that, but he was a really nice guy! So this is the second book featuring Marcy, in the first book her husband cheats on her and she kicks him to the curb, however it can absolutely be read as a standalone… in this book marcy, has moved on… her new boyfriend John wants to take their relationship to a more serious level, her soon to be ex cheating husband Harvey wants her back, and her daughter Amanda is getting married… I love the juxtaposition of the wedding and the divorce… I also love how this book accurately portrayed how insane people can act when planning a wedding…

This book was crammed full of little gems this was my absolute favorite is bread still considered white after it has been toasted? that line still makes me chuckle! Just a wonderful book all about life, love, family, good times, bad times, something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue… marcy is just a tremendously relatable character she could be you, she could be your mom, your sister, your BFF, she is someone you are glad you got to spend some time with!

A story that reminds you no matter how messy life gets never lose sight of your sense of humor! recommend!

*** many thanks to Lake Union for my copy of this book ***

Author Bio

Rachel J Bonner is the author of the four book Choices and Consequences series, the first of which, Strand of Faith, is due out in November 2018.

Getting a degree in engineering, followed by a career in accountancy is probably not a conventional path to becoming an author, particularly in paranormal romance. Rachel says that, although accountancy isn’t anything like as boring as everyone thinks, writing is a lot more fun. When not writing, she can be found walking in the beautiful countryside near where she lives, which has influenced much of the scenery in her books, or shooting things with her local archery club. Target shooting only, honest. Nothing to worry about.

She also enjoys swimming, eating chocolate chip cookies and growing aromatic herbs, especially thyme and rosemary. It’s no coincidence that her heroine likes the same things.

Finding Grace by K. L. Slater @KimLSlater @bookouture #bookreview #findinggrace

Happy Friday bibliophiles!

So excited to share with you my review for this compelling thriller from one of my favorite authors! Huge thank you to Kim Nash for my invitation to the tour and to Kim Slater for her wonderful story!🌹

My Thoughts

and engaging thriller bursting with twists, secrets, lies, and questions!

This was so much more than a missing child story… although that part of the story will really make you think if you are a parent… when do you let your child walk somewhere on their own, whether it be school or a friends house? The little girl Grace in this story is nine and is begging her parents to allow her to walk from their house to her friends house down the street… I was really thinking about this when did I allow my children to walk somewhere on their own? My oldest two kids a boy and a girl are only 13 months apart so it was usually the two of them and I think I was more comfortable with them walking together… but I had a hard time letting my daughter walk alone even when she was 14, however I probably let her go up the street to her friends? Just last night my youngest who is now 16 asked me if he could walk to the gas station to purchase chips and it was dark out and I really did not want him to go, of course he told me that I let his older brother who is 22 go, also my 22-year-old doesn’t live at home anymore… anyways I even struggled with this last night and my kids are pretty grown…. i’m sure you all wanted to know this😉 anyways all this is to say it is hard to let go and give your children the freedom that they need to become capable responsible adults… BUT can you imagine if the first time you allowed your child to walk alone they were snatched? Welcome to Lucy and Blake’s world….

Blake is a councilman, Lucy is a stay at home mom, they live a nice comfortable life with their two adorable children Grace and baby Oscar… then one day they allow nine-year-old Grace to walk home alone from a friends and their lives are changed forever… as the investigation begins into the who? Why? How? The layers start peeling away from Blake and Lucy‘s so-called perfect lives… both these characters were hiding quite a few things from one another, so many secrets, so many lies, so many suspects….

K L Slater is truly a masterful storyteller! This book was paced perfectly, we kept being fed breadcrumbs of information… just enough to satisfy me and make me wanting more… I really enjoyed how the secrets were revealed, I liked trying to figure out what was going on… another well-crafted thriller from a brilliant author!

A compelling thriller that will mess with your head and make you think what would I have done? Twists, turns, secrets, lies, and a bit of a Darkside! Recommend!

🎵🎵🎵 Song Running Through My Head

I have a tale to tell
Sometimes it gets so hard to hide it well
I was not ready for the fall
Too blind to see the writing on the wall
A man can tell a thousand lies
I’ve learned my lesson well
Hope I live to tell
The secret I have learned, ’till then
It will burn inside of me
I know where beauty lives
I’ve seen it once, I know the warm she gives
The light that you could never see
It shines inside, you can’t take that from me
A man can tell a thousand lies
I’ve learned my lesson well
Hope I live to tell
The secret I have learned, ’till then
It will burn inside of me
The truth is never far behind
You kept it hidden well
If I live to tell
The secret I knew then
Will I ever have the chance again
If I ran away, I’d never have the strength
To go very far
How would…

About the Book

This morning, my daughter sat right here, munching her breakfast, too excited to finish it. Now, she is missing.

The day after her ninth birthday, Lucie and Blake Sullivan agree, for the very first time, to let their daughter, Grace, make the four-minute walk back home alone from a friend’s house just down the street.

They joke with friends about hiding behind bushes to ensure she is safe. But the joke turns sour when Grace does not appear.

Despite the best efforts of the police and local community, Grace seems to have vanished into thin air. With hope fading fast, Lucie knows she can rely on her husband to support her through such dark times. That is until the day she makes a shocking discovery, hidden in Blake’s desk, and suddenly she begins to doubt everything she knew about the man she married.

But Lucie harbours a terrible secret of her own. One that she has never shared with anyone, even Blake …

And as the search for Grace reaches fever pitch, Lucie receives a terrifying message. If she is ever to see Grace again, Lucie has no choice but to face the past she tried hard to bury forever. And she must do it alone.

The most gripping psychological thriller you’ll read this year from the bestselling author K.L. Slater. If you love The Wife Between Us or Gone Girl, you’ll be totally hooked on Finding Grace.
