The Christmas Spirit by Susan Buchanan @Susan_Buchanan @rararesources #bookreview #giveaway 🎄❄️

Happy Monday bibliophiles!

Delighted to share with you today my review for another festive story full of Christmas spirit! Big thanks to Rachel for my invitation and to Susan Buchanan for her beautiful story🎄❄️

The Christmas Spirit

TCS_cover_finalChristmas is coming, but not everyone is looking forward to it.

Rebecca has just been dumped and the prospect of spending the holiday period with her parents is less than appealing.

Eighty- two year old Stanley lost his beloved wife, Edie, to cancer. How will he cope with his first Christmas without her?

Jacob’s university degree hasn’t helped him get a job, and it looks like he’ll still be signing on come New Year.

Workaholic Meredith would rather spend December 25th at home alone with a ready meal and a DVD box set. Can anything make her embrace the spirit of the season?

The enigmatic Natalie Hope takes over the reins at the Sugar and Spice bakery and café in an attempt to spread some festive cheer and restore Christmas spirit, but will she succeed?

My Thoughts

this book was filled with Sugar and Spice and everything nice!❄️

I have definitely read my fair share of Christmas books this season, and it is impressive how many ways you can write a story about this time of year…. I also get to celebrate Christmas all over the world yesterday I was celebrating Christmas in New York and today I am celebrating in Scotland…. what is so nice about that is I live in Southern California where it does not snow so I get to have a white Christmas and still wear leggings a tank top and no shoes on my feet….

This delightful story was about Natalie Hope, and what an appropriate name because she definitely brought hope to many…. Natalie heads to Scotland for Christmas to help run the Sugar and Spice Café in its owners absence… while there she meets four very lovely but lonely characters…. all of these characters are down on their luck, and Natalie definitely brings HOPE into their lives…. and cake lots and lots of yummy cake, I am so craving cake now!

This little Christmas story had so much packed into it… all the characters were so well developed and they all had tremendous growth within the story…. A feel-good festive story with a splash of romance!

Absolutely recommend as the perfect book to bring some Christmas spirit into your life!❤️💚❤️💚

*** many thanks to the author and Rachelle for my copy of this book ***

The Other Miss Bates by Allie Cresswell @rararesources #bookreview

Happy Monday book friends!

Delighted to share with you today my review for this charming story perfect for the Jane Austen lover! Huge thanks to Rachel for my invitation to the tour!💚❤️💚

The Other Miss Bates

The Other-Miss-BatesJane Bates has left Highbury to become the companion of the invalid widow Mrs Sealy in Brighton. Life in the new, fashionable seaside resort is exciting indeed. A wide circle of interesting acquaintance and a rich tapestry of new experiences – balls at the Assembly rooms, carriage rides and promenades on the Steyne – make her new life all Jane had hoped for.

While Jane’s sister Hetty can be a tiresome conversationalist she proves to be a surprisingly good correspondent and Jane is kept minutely up-to-date with developments in Highbury, particularly the tragic news from Donwell Abbey.

When handsome Lieutenant Weston returns to Brighton Jane expects their attachment to pick up where it left off in Highbury the previous Christmas, but the determined Miss Louisa Churchill, newly arrived with her brother and sister-in-law from Enscombe in Yorkshire, seems to have a different plan in mind.

My Thoughts

this is an elegant story loosely based on Jane Austen‘s Emma…

OK well if I’m being honest I’m not sure if it’s loosely based on Emma or not, because I’ve never read Emma… but it is a fun fancy story filled with fabulous characters… I do believe I would have appreciated the book more if I were a Jane Austen fan or even a fan of Classics…. however, I think it is a credit to the author that I enjoyed this as much as I did, in spite of my lack of Emma knowledge…

This is the story of Jane Bates as she journeys to Brighton to take care of a elderly woman… I really enjoyed the setting of Brighton it was so beachy and glamorous…. I really enjoyed Jane and thought she had a lot of character growth throughout the story… I also enjoyed her very long letters from her sister back home with updates on what was going on in Highberry… A lovely story that perfectly sets the reader up for the final installment in this trilogy….

A wonderful historical Reid with a splash of holiday cheer!
