Snowflakes Over Holly Cove 2

Do2OodCXkAELlRBAs the snowflakes start to fall, Holly Cove welcomes a new tenant to the beautiful old cottage on the beach…

For lifestyle magazine journalist Tia Armstrong, relationships, as well as Christmas, have lost all their magic. Yet Tia is up against a Christmas deadline for her latest article ‘Love is, actually, all around…’

So, Tia heads to Holly Cove where the restorative sea air and rugged stranger, Nic, slowly but surely start mending her broken heart.

Tia didn’t expect a white Christmas, and she certainly never dared dream that all her Christmas wishes might just come true…

Set in Caswell Bay on the stunningly beautiful Gower Coast, the cottage nestles amid the limestone cliffs and the woodlands, where the emotions run as turbulently as the wind-swept sea.

As cosy as a marshmallow-topped mug of cocoa, fall in love with a heart-warming festive story from the bestselling author of The French Adventure.

My Thoughts

A fun, feel good, festive read, that will leave you feeling happy, hopeful, And craving hot chocolate!❄️

This truly was a beautiful story that evoked every emotion possible in me…. a story that put a big smile on my face and left me wanting to visit South Wales… visit, I’m not sure if the weather is to my liking, but it sure does sound like a lovely place to visit, if you’re cuddled up in front of a roaring fire with that cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows of course!

Tia has lost her mother and is struggling to get her life back together… her boss sees that she is struggling and sends her on assignment to Holly Cove a Village in South Wales…. Tia is a reporter for a lifestyle magazine and her assignment is to write an article on three different happy couples… so will all this love help Tia find a true love of her own?

In spite of some of the more serious storylines this really is a feel-good story… Tia is a relatable and likable character you really want the best for…. The residence of this charming village are quirky, interesting, and delightful! The Romance was sweet, although perhaps a little quick…

A perfect holiday read to put you in the festive holiday spirit!

*** many thanks to the author and Rachel for my copy of this book ***

Designer You by Sarahlyn Bruck @sarahbruck @rararesources #bookreview

Happy Monday everybody!

Delighted to be part of the blog tour for this debut! A huge thank you to Rachel for my invitation and to Sarahlyn Bruck for her wonderful story!💛

Designer You

designer you - high resolutionPam Wheeler checked every box: Happy marriage? Check. Fantastic kid? Check. Booming career? Check.

So when her husband dies in a freak accident and their DIY empire goes on life support, Pam must fix the relationship with her troubled and grief-stricken daughter and save the family business.

Pam and Nate were a couple who just couldn’t get away from each other, sharing not only their bed, but also a successful lifestyle empire as DIY home renovators, bloggers, podcasters, and co-authors.

When Nate dies in a freak accident, Pam becomes a 44-year-old widow, at once too young and too old—too young to be thrust into widowhood and too old to rejoin the dating pool.

Now the single mother of a headstrong and grief-stricken teenager, Pam’s life becomes a juggling act between dealing with her loss and learning how to parent by herself. On top of all that she also must reinvent herself or lose the empire that she and Nate had built so carefully.

It is time for Pam to seize the opportunity to step up as a mother, come out from behind Nate’s shadow, and rise as the sole face of the Designer You brand, and maybe, possibly, hopefully, find love again.

My Thoughts

A raw and reel look at grief…

This was a book with very heavy subject matter that did not weigh you down…. losing a family member is tough and the impact on the family is intense… and know two families or two family members handle the situation the same… this book was about Pam and her daughter Grace navigating life after losing their husband/father Nate…

Nate and Pam were man and wife as well as business partners… they ran an extremely successful DIY business including book deals and blog…. after the death of Nate Pam had to step up not only in the business, but also at home with her daughter Grace… I had tremendous empathy for Pam, she was very insecure as to how to run things after the death of her husband… I also was tremendously frustrated with Pam and how she handled things with her daughter Grace… Grace, now I do realize the girl lost her father, but well I really wanted to reach through the pages and…. The girl was a straight up brat! And Pam just made the situation worse…. it truly is hard to elicit sympathy for someone who acts like that, she was a tough character!

A realistic look a grief… the good… the bad… and the ugly… OK there wasn’t much good, although towards the end Grace and Pam did start to mend their relationship… this book I’m guessing has a sequel? The ending was quite abrupt…. and some things were left unfinished… and some things tied up a little too quickly and neatly for my liking

And engaging story that kept it real! Well structured, beautifully told, I sure hope there is a follow up…

Video Killed the Radio Star by Duncan MacMaster #VKTRSBook @FuriousDShow @fahrenheitpress #bookreview

Happy Monday book people!

Excited to share with you today my review for this campy detective mystery, with a title I could not resist! I mean how could I not review a book when my blog name is based on the same song as the title???

video killed the radio star coverMoney in the bank and his dream girl on his arm – life was looking pretty sweet for Kirby Baxter.

Of course it couldn’t last. Where would the fun be in that? This is a sequel after all.

After solving the murder of a movie starlet the previous year, Kirby is doing his best to live down his burgeoning reputation as part-time Interpol agent and amateur sleuth.

Then reality TV comes knocking next door.

Million Dollar Madhouse is a reality TV show where a bunch of washed up celebrities are thrown together in a dilapidated mansion while their attempts to renovate the building are broadcast 24/7 for the viewers delight.

Kirby’s quiet town is thrown into chaos by the arrival of camera crews, remote control video drones and a cast of characters including disgraced actress Victoria Gorham, political shock-jock Bert Wayne and reality TV royalty Kassandra Kassabian.

When one of the cast members turns up dead the local police turn to the only celebrity detective in town for help and draft an unwilling Kirby into their investigation.

The first body is only the beginning of another rip-roaring adventure for Kirby Baxter and with Gustav his loyal driver/valet/bodyguard/gardener//chef/ass-kicker at his side, our hero plunges into the fray with his usual stunning displays of deductive reasoning and sheer bloody luck.

My Thoughts

Picture this… murder in the Big Brother House, imagine the ratings?!?!

This was a fun modern take on the classic detective story… and as a fan of the reality TV genre (don’t tell anyone though) I thought this was a refreshing update to the detective genre…

Dunkin Baxter is a consultant for Interpol… The why of this is a bit of a mystery, something exceptional happened in Liechtenstein, that we the reader are not privy to as of yet…. Duncan a retired comic book illustrator, professional nerd, and part time Detective is not happy to find out they will be filming “Mansion Madness“ a reality television show, next door to him… and after someone is killed in the house his intelligent, intuitive, and quirky detective services are required…. not an easy task with a house full of vapid suspicious characters, who just so happen to be B list (or possibly see list) celebrities….

This was definitely an entertaining Book that did not take itself too seriously…. I enjoyed all the characters immensely they were so well drawn, with my favorites being Duncan and his sidekick Gustav… seriously we all need a Gustaf in our lives! The mystery was fun and I really enjoyed watching Dunkin solve the case, but if I’m being honest the characters really stole the show for me in this one!

Recommend to those of you who enjoy detective story with a substantial dose of humor🔍
