My Thoughts

4 Feel Good Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Loved returning to the little cottage on the hill! This is such a fun lighthearted series filled with amazing characters… not to mention a beautiful setting, that I would absolutely love to visit one day!

I was really hoping for Trixie to get her HEA in this book… but what I got instead was a lot of fun… Trixie and Clara are starring in a documentary about Joy’s Acre focusing on their contributions of gardening and cooking…. I really love these ladies and the friendship that they have… i’d really love to see these gardens and taste this food….

Megan is the latest visitor to Joy’s Acre… she has come home to see Liam as well as participate in a blacksmith competition… The competition is to create entry gates, I have never given any thought to gate design or blacksmithing before… truly had no idea so much went into it, you learn something new every day! There also was an element of mystery and suspense to this part of the story that was a lovely addition to the book…

This might be my favorite book in the series so far, but I’m still waiting for Trixie to fall in love! A fun heartwarming escape of a read…. this book left me with a smile on my face and a desire to visit… cannot wait for the next book in the series!

Absolutely recommend if you like friendship, romance, a splash of mystery, fabulous food, beautiful gardens, blacksmithing competitions, or just a good book!

After a varied career, Emma Davies once worked for a design studio where she was asked to provide a fun and humorous (and not necessarily true) anecdote for their website. She wrote the following: ‘I am a bestselling novelist currently masquerading as a thirty something mother of three.’ Well the job in the design studio didn’t work out but she’s now a forty something mother of three and is happy to report the rest of her dream came true.

After many years as a finance manager she now writes full time, and is far happier playing with words than numbers. She lives with her husband, three children, and two guinea pigs in rural Shropshire where she writes in all the gaps in between real life. It’s a county she adores, her love of its beautiful people and landscapes providing endless inspiration for her books, and in fact the only thing that would make Shropshire more idyllic is if it were by the sea.

Today I am sharing my review with you for this engrossing book! Many thanks to Rachel for my invitation to the blog tour!💛

Following years of sexual abuse, Angelica is brought up in care. As a teenager she absconds, living on the streets, before eventually being forced into prostitution to survive. She learns to rely solely on herself and is reluctant to allow anyone to get close to her, until she forms an unlikely bond with Lola. In contrast, Lola is from what appears to be a happy middle-class background – but all is not what it seems…

Slowly, as their friendship grows, cracks start to appear in Lola’s life, and a series of events leave her on the verge of ruin. Can these women break the cycle of their lives? Or will they succumb to the path laid out before them? Angelica Stone is an emotional rollercoaster of laughter and tears as the women embark on a journey of self-discovery, with the support of one another.

My Thoughts

This was a dark and disturbing book that took a real and raw look at life…. admittedly the cover and the blurb did not prepare me for such a dark look at life, but once I switched gears I was fully engrossed…. this is a story about Angelica, but she is really a secondary character the main focus is on Lola… The girls met at work and slowly and awkwardly started a friendship….

This book really was a testament to the Power of friendship… these two girls even though they were from very different backgrounds really were such a blessing and support to one another…. because even though Lola’s life appears picture perfect, she has struggles of her own…. you don’t need to grow up on the streets to have to deal with your past and family issues…. there are many parts of this book that I found quite disturbing, however I don’t believe any thing was gratuitous, just necessary…. I feel as though this review is a bit vague, however I really don’t want to give any of the plot away…. and I’m struggling a bit as to how I really feel about this book…. can’t say that I enjoyed it, but I’m glad I read it… let me clarify, this is not the kind of book that you “enjoy”…. it is the kind of book that consumes your mind and makes you think, and takes you out of your comfort zone for a while…

This was an engrossing story with very well develop characters and a deep plotline… absolutely recommend, but keep the Kleenex close!

Author Bio – Susi Osborne is the author of The Ripples of Life, Grace & Disgrace, Secrets, Lies & Butterflies and Angelica Stone. She lives in Cheshire with her Scottish husband, her actress daughter and their two mischievous little dogs. Susi also has an adult son and a grandson who live nearby. Amongst friends their house is known affectionately (she hopes!) as the Osborne madhouse, for obvious reasons.

Before she became a writer, Susi worked in libraries for many years. She also worked as a classroom assistant in a junior school. In addition to her writing Susi organises Northwich LitFest, which she has been running for the past seven years. Alongside the writing of her latest book, Angelica Stone, Susi has been raising money for Centrepoint, the charity for youth homelessness, and has set up a Just Giving Page for the charity in her name.
